- Our 2020 Mercedes GLC300 has already its check engine light on!
Taking it back to the dealership to get it checked

That is expected in the cold weather. It has nothing to do with the car. The battery is not working in the cold.
It was not the battery!
Lol
It's not expected in cold weather. If you expect it, your car's a piece of crap (not yours specifically). I also live in Calgary and I often park in my uni parking lot when it's -20/-30. Engine light never comes on my 2014 Escape. Doesn't have trouble starting either. No need for a block heater.
You got an engine-light first...it shows that there is a problem with ur engine...LOL
Who scrapes their Mercedes paint with an ice scraper?!?” Lol
Welcome to Alabama built cars. We don’t have the same standards as Germany.
Most c450’s and c43’s were so I just assumed. GLCs are built in a lot of south Asian countries. Indonesia, Thailand, also India. Maybe Mercedes just needs to use better parts.
Morgan freeman the Mercedes built in Asia are only sold in Asia.
My GLC-300 sticker says built in Bremen, Germany.
thank you. i booked an appt, now im having 2nd thought about getting one
We absolutely love our GLC 300 2020
Same here no problem at all.
Dad had a problem with his pre facelift GLC 220D where the car basically stalled when the start stop system would start the engine back up in traffic and the car had the 9 speed automatic so Mercedes do sometimes have problems
They always have lots of serious problems... Why buying this if you wanted reliability when Toyota is around the corner?
My Mercedes crapped out at 65k. The best or nothing, I had nothing! I’ll never buy another one! Junk for the money!
What model did u have I'm just curious my 2000 has 166 still going strong

Better get use to it. Many more trips to the dealer to come.
true!
Had my GLC 300 Coupe for 3 months with only 2100 KM, popped a warning sign for the 48v mild hybrid system when starting up the car.
Had similar problems on my 2016 model, after maybe 3-4 visits to the dealer turns out it was some onboard console short circuit. They replaced the whole onboard computer thing in the back of the trunk and everything’s back to normal now. You can probably ask the dealer to check on that next time.
Thx
You should have lemon your car.
Thanks for the video. Dunno u still have it though. Hows the EQ boost on GLC300 pls? Any issues? Thanks bud.
sir!! park your Mercedes inside and baby it~ the parts tolerance on those Mercedes are very small. under that cold, you will damage your battery
What you say is wrong, these cars are parked on dealer lots every year at this weather outside. Our GLA250 parked outside 24 hours a day did not have an issue. Our 2nd GLC300 was parked in the garage overnight and it was parked outside during work. When the car was started after work it got a check engine light. The next day was going to take it in for service and it was parked in the garage overnight and it was not drive able and had to be towed to a dealer. We had way too many brand new cars and never have had an issue like these including other Mercedes
@@POGAuto under that kind of temp -25, this will kill your battery, and when the time come you need to replace them....$$$$ , you think dealer care those car? they don't, but as owner, suggest you park inside when temp gets cold, i park my A250 inside anyway. and garage temp is set to 5 degree C.
check engine light usually relates to something from engine itself, it could relates to cold temp but rare
@@POGAuto when cold, The greater the resistance for power to flow, + you have not full charged battery, some of electronic component might not get enough power to turn itself. + you engine oil need pump to get into engine, the cold the temp and make harder for oil pump to get oil into your engine. factory oil is NOT good enough. many factors adds together, and your car is new, everything is very tight, the cold make material shrink, harder to move, + if you have not enough power to turn. you got check engine light. dealer can not reproduce it because they don't have the same condition as you had, you drive to dealer, your battery gets charged it and car is not cold. for you car, the same as mine, that Mercedes me takes power from starter battery a LOT. just careful on that.
Not true. Of course the battery will have to work harder but that's why the OEM Varta batteries for MBs have a good amount of CCAs in it. I have an 8 year old C300 that spends most of it's time outside. I replaced the battery last year just for the heck of it and it starts up on a dime no matter the weather. Of course in the cold it will need a bit of time to warm up and needs to be driven lightly to get fluids up to temp.
@@IKhanNot you could be right, but a check engine light when new! is not right
Was it the extreme sub-zero temperature that caused the problem? Did the same happened on your other GLC?
Video coming soon about the other GLC
I have the same car, but diesel. It's the first car I've had to buy an OBD code reader for :) Saves money sometimes.
Probably petrol cap. Always check it when any vehicles engine light stays on.
I dod check the fuel cap.
What are you talking about lmao
The fuel cap is an Evap system fault, nothing to do with a misfire.
Thanks for sharing this. I live in New York City. I just custom ordered the GLE 450. I need to wait until April to get it though. It can get quite cold here (not as cold as your city though). Have you had other issues? The GLE and GLC share a lot in common actually.
So far its good thankfully but I heard from someone that their 2020 GLE 450 had check engine light before we got it on both of our cars. But again Mercedes is a amazing car and its just inconvenient when things like this happens but they take care of it quick
I love how you had to include the word “custom” when saying you ordered a GLE like it’s something special like an AMG or an exotic. A GLE is a pedestrian crossover in NYC. Do not ever say you “Custom order your GLE” publicly in NYC. You sound way too much like a try hard. Unless you’re in North Korea, no one is dreaming about you.
@@RevAlSharptonz ohhh i bet you are fun at parties... Why do you have to be so pathetic and depressive? are you jealous or did your wife cheat on you?
@@RevAlSharptonzkick rocks kid
Your parking your car outside in -21 degrees. A cold and bad battery can lead to starting issues. Your oil can also get thick and cause problems in your engine.
I have glc250 4matic 2018 , I love the car however it has sooooo many problems ... suspension, snagging when in full lock to be some, other being electrical .... and this is in the Uk .... I’m tempted yet to order another even tho I have had those problems as I’m hoping it just was a Monday car ??
That ambient lighting is just beautiful
I got a 2016 glc and the wheel judders when I turn it fully, does it happen to urs?
I am in Canada too, I think that's why lots of neighbors always park their Germany cars like Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Porsche in their garage, and leave CRV, Rav 4 on their driveways, germany cars are good but too precious, lol
There is motor heaters from DEFA and Swedish CALIX available for MB GLC, GLE etc. Motor heaters widely used in northern europe and scandinavian countries
I can confirm this. You definitely should use motor heating unit in your car. Here in northern Europe it's recommended to use it always when it goes below the 0 degrees of celsius.
More than likely u bought a new car and it was probably moved around a lot at the dealership prior to your purchase. Short drive cycles in cold weather and cold starts where the engine tends to run richer and it properly never had a chance to gets up to temperature where it would lean out and start dialling back the short term fuel trim. I’m assuming the spark plug on cylinder number 2 probably got a bit fuel Fouled and wasn’t sparking properly due to gas being a hydrocarbon and a conductor. This is not too uncommon for direct injected engines where fuel pressures go well above 1000 psi easy. It’s not too big a deal if it happens again they’ll probably throw a new plug in under warranty.
Always lease your new MBZ. You will know if you want to purchase it when the lease is up.
Couldn’t agree more
I have a 2016 GLC 300 with under 40,000 miles and within the past two months I had to get the engine replaced because the piston plate in the first cylinder broke off and yesterday the transmission failed. When I was at the dealership getting the engine replaced, the shop manager showed me 5 other Mercedes SUV's that all had the exact same problem that I had.
Sad to hear
And why do you still have the car? How come you did not pursue relief under a lemon law?
Not even a month old and check-engine lght ON wow
That’s why I would buy a Lexus instead of this.
Same here
That's totally normal for "the best or nothing" vehicle. They all normally fall apart within 3-4 years. G class may last a bit longer, but that's a gamble as well.. Lexus is a way more reliable car
The BMW are worse

wait.. WHAT did he say?!?!
FYI. CEL typically is an indication of an emissions system fault. NBD.
Bro thats too cold
I see that u have Volkswagen Tiguan.
Seriously! Mine got issue on 4th day! Power steering wheel malfunction. I can’t even comprehend how disappointed i’m.
Shoulda got a Honda baby lol stay humble
How is it now? Im bout to get this car but seem like it has so many problem?
That's why you have a warranty. All cars will eventually have issues no matter the age. I had a 4Runner that had a bad 4wd actuator. They are mechanical machines and will have issues, it's not the end of the world.
Hello there , how much u paid for glc ? And r u armenian ?
Its maybe because of the -23 Degrees xd
king ruby so what? Not even cold.
nikke Filppula depends what system you use, Celsius is very cold and Fahrenheit is not too cold compare to Celsius
Batteries have a cold cranking amp rating but that’s tested at -18c. At -23 It’s pretty normal to have that type of issue if the oem selected a battery that has just enough cold cranking amps to save a couple bucks instead of throwing in something more overbuilt for the application.
My frikin 20 year old Toyota can start with one Fucking crank
It’s not that cold out there a ford would have been better they always start
I have a 2021 Eclass 350. It has 4K miles and has been on the shop three times already. Piece of crap 💩. I’m hoping I can lemon it out. Same thing happened to me. Of course there aren’t any loaner cars available so I’m out of luck. I’ll never ever lease a Mercedes Benz again. Should have kept my Porsche Cayman
Is the new glc made in Georgia?
Erm cars tend not to start if the temperature is below 25. You have to have a block heater...
Those cars need to be garage kept if possible in the winter months especially.
For 3 years GLA and C class kept outside in the extreme cold never a issue never
Still Mercedes all the way.
What do you expect when you leave your car outside in -21 degrees? Park it somewhere warm
Exactly! The battery will probably not work correctly.
He needs to park it in his bedroom and buy duvet covers for it.
If I had to stay outside in sub zero temperatures all night I think I would not be working good either 🥶
Hmm. 2020 GLC 300 4MATIC we get in Canada are made in Bremen, Germany. I have one waiting now and will be following it once it departs Bremerhaven! Is this model made in Alabama for US customers?
The vin starts with WD so Germany
@@POGAuto Thank you Danke!
Did you plug in your block heater? Check battery?
There is no block heater on any of our 4 Benz vehicles and the dealer said there is no block heater that they can install, it's parked in a heated garage now
I have an 3 year old e-class. Tons of issues with it. Uses engine Oil, Doors where not aligned when delivered, digital screen replaced, compressor for suspension broke and latest is clear cloat is peeling of. Have had other wierd Electronic errors coming and going also. No more benz for me thats for sure, crap car
I love the car 😍😍
Mercedes has a proble with the remote start. A lot of people have issues with the phone app.
Which is more reliable?
Ford or Mercedes Benz?
You should have bought the GLC43 AMG! It’s super reliable. I have one for 3 years so far
This car is like this most likely because Alberta is going through extreme cold temperatures and the car is still in the break in period. GLC 43 is nice but around that price I would probably consider GLE 450
POGAuto makes sense.
Same for me i had one for 2 years and no problem
John Paul I’ve got a BMW X5 50i since 2013 and never had any problems. I always get German sporty cars
GTI Gaming very much agreed.👍
Have ever heared about webasto or eber?
I got the 43amg 2018 in Canada Québec... not the new one but still after 2 years i have no problem
Bravo
My granny had a Mercedes-benz E320 for 14 years, and not one problem had occurred.
We are not allowed this function in the UK 🙁
Jason king in Germany you are not too :(
Are You in Canada ? Does the Mercedes me work in Canada I called mbus and they say it doesn't work in Canada
Yes I am in Canada, I believe the car has to be 2019 or above. My 2018 C Class does not have the app
TheClueless15 interesting, I have the 2017 GLC43 AMG and the app works in the state
It works with Verizon and it is working fine since forever in US but in Canada they cannot insure that would work
I really didn’t expect from Mercedes-Benz this kind of issue😩.
An engine light so early is not good sign.
What happened to c300
Still have it and starts
Why you dont have motor heater, example cooling water heater of motor heater what works with diesel. In Finland we use all time winter motor heaters because gold start damaged motor. One gold start damaging motor about 1000 drived kilometer
The GLC 300 takes Gas not diesel
@@POGAuto okay, you can get pre-heating what works with electric, example DEFA (company) made that heater.
it works by heating the coolant and then circulating the warm coolant in the engine. this is completely electric.
Where was this one made ?
Germany according to the vin
I got my 2020 brand new off the lot with only 10 miles and my engine light would come on off at random i was driving one day in December in sunny California and my engine exploded here it is a month later my car is still with Mercedes the entire engine has to replaced and I’m in a 2021 loaner gla 250 and the check engine light is on lol
Ouch
You got slumped
Lemon laws. The loaner will have an engine failure as well
Its moisture in engine cuz of the cold weather.
I have a mercedes benz vehicle and I honestly never use the app because the mercedes me USA app is shit. Like to be honest it has many many poor reviews on Google play. I don't know about the app store for Apple but there have been many complaints of how the functions on the app are not functioning properly as supposed to as far as the connection with the car.
It honestly would be nice if mercedes would just have a remote start from the key fob. That way I can just use the key instead and don't have to be freezing my butt in the car when the winter comes. However I was told that in Europe, somebody told me it is "not allowed to have that feature" on any German car because of the country regulations.
Remote start on keyfob will be the best.
-23 Celsius!?? Where do you live man?
peter p might be some part of Canada
Why do the buttons light up orange and not white?

No, for example on the steering wheel. Why do the buttons light up in orange there.

Every so often every car manufacturer has an issue. Its normal. Even Toyota. Theres only a problem if your dealership does nothing about it. But as we see they fixed it. No problems🤷🏽♂️
Yes they have fixed it however we own two 2020 GLC’s and both had issues and one had to be towed. Leaving us with one less car without a loaner. I understand that all cars can have issues but it’s different experience when both of the cars have issues especially after owning other benz’s without problems
POGAuto I dont know how this posted as a solo post lol. This was meant for someone who was talking bad about mercedes in the comments😂🤦🏽♂️ But yes i see your point. Two brand new cars at once having problems right off the bat is very bad. The lemon law here where i live is if you take it in at least 3 times while its still brand new, they have to give you another one.
I am not sure but I think in Alberta we do not have lemon law. Thankfully it all got resolved tho :)
@@POGAuto I've had 2 Honda and they had issues as well. Also bmw are a pile of crap
You let your car to freeze out in the cold. Of course its gonna have problems. Put it in a safe garage.
seriously?! 😅
Either that or start the car and let it run before you go to bed in those temperatures. -20.. of course it doesn’t want to start.
oww cold weather is not very good for cars isnt it :/
Shoulda bought a Lexus
Haha mine was built in Germany stratesburg never had any problems
Where do u live ? Minus 25 degree Celcius?
Must be canada
I wouldn't function in those temperatures, Move to a warmer climate,

Gasoline
Im disappointed with my GLC 2020 that I can't install A GPS. Paying huge amount of money and they cannot install a gps. Regret getting a mercedez.
Should I get this car for my wife, please let me know ?
Definitely, It is an amazing car. So far we did not have any more issues with them!
What did you expected.........
Ok i see some people saying Mercedes is a garbage car.. just only expensive!!! What about BMW it is OK??? Most people advising not to buy .. because of expensive repair and much problems!!?? Is anyone have BMW for many years and happy with that... by the way i am living in Wisconsin.. maybe cold weather affect the engine??? Any advice..
Trade market between bmw and mercedes i would definitely say mercedes
hey i had an bmw 330i e90 for 10 years, and 0 problems. i live also in canada with -20 degrees and 0 problems. now i have a bmw 540i g30 and again, no problems. bmw is way better mate.
Overprice like no other car in the world. The sad part MB is never known for quality. They just look nice.
I never had issues with my c class or the GLA. This happened most likely because of the extreme cold weather. Both GLC being new with low mileage most like why it was caused. I also do not find Mercedes overpriced because it is a luxury car
Starting your car with a PhONe and it loading!!??🤮
This will never happen to a Lexus
Its fuckin -23° thats the point . Too cold for car bruhh
hey you can park it in my garage car like that should be in a warm garage lol
These cars are not parked in garage every day in dealer lots. We also have a GLA 250 parked outside 24/7 and not a single issue. Our black 2020 GLC300 was parked in the garage overnight and it still got a check engine light and it had to get towed.
My A220 has A LOT OF PROBLEMS as well after one month from buying it. It’s been 8 months since I bought it and literally I take it to the service every week or two weeks maximum, and every time my car stayed in service like three weeks till they get it done. I think a Mercedes is days has these issues it’s not good Mercedes anymore.
make sure the Mercedes you spend your $ is actually Made in Germany ( better, but sometime still could have small problem )
what problems did you encounter? i also had mine for less than a month and the gearbox was found to be defective!
