I think I was at this game. I had just moved to SC and this was my first game at Turner Field. I know it was against the Pirates and it was a close game that Smoltz saved.
The famous experiment where Pete and Skip got taken off TBS in the name of making the broadcasts more "neutral." Some idiot in management at Turner Sports thought they were too homer-ish. Fortunately this didn't last long. Joe and Don are fine broadcasters but neither has any business doing 9 innings of play-by-play.
Yeah..it is..From Texas I used to love watching Braves baseball on the superstition, and recognized all the players and announcers. I couldn't tell u who called the games now if u put the names in front of me.
Even though we lost Glavine in the off season, this might be my favorite Braves team. Really loved that 2003 offense. If only we could’ve gotten out of the first round in the playoffs…
@@russsnyder2026 forgot about Aramis Ramirez, he was a heck of a hitter. That pitching staff though, ugh. Still remember them trotting the lefty Jimmy Anderson out outing after outing and he was simply horrendous but because he was a lefty it was "we gotta put him out there". Lloyd McClendon had no right being a skipper either, he was a prototypical bench coach.
@@russsnyder2026 starters were okay. Bullpen sucked. I believe that if the Pirates had kept Lofton, Ramirez and Sanders, they could have cracked .500 in '04-'05.
@@bafa7353They could've cracked it in 06 once guys like Snell and Maholm were there, and Wells and Morris signed on, then sold guys like Lofton for scraps in 07, and reloaded the staff for the influx of Cutch, Neil, Jones, and Alvarez around 09-10.
I grew up watching the Braves play from 2003 till now I still watch them. Always a Braves fan forever

Brian Giles was a monster…. One of the more unrecognized/underrated players of his era
always love rewatching older Braves game. So much nostalgia and really started getting into baseball around 1999 and been watching ever since

This!
I knew something was with that
Thanks for posting this.
It’s so refreshing to watch a baseball game and not hear the words launch angle or exit velo

Any more TBS Braves games from 2004 & 2005?
I miss the home run music being blared through tv speakers as well. What they do at Truist now is a joke
Do you have the 1996 open to TBS games Brooks?

Pirates had a solid lineup, not sure why their record was so bad
Our pitching stuff was garbage. Youre right though we did have some good hitters like Giles, Kendall, Lofton.
@@manhalen7046 Ramirez. Sanders. Terrible pitching
