  • This is a 2023 Sun Tracker Bass Buggy 18 pontoon boat on rough and windy day. WaterSnake brand trolling motor 54lb thrust.
    Just a ride along and how well the boat rides in the choppy water with 10-15 mph winds at Ocean Pond - Lake City, FL.

    We have a 1993 18 foot bass buggy and put a new 50hp Tohatsu 3 years ago. Run us around just fine.

      Nice, I just bought a new 20 hp Tohatsu for my Jon boat, last year, and it is great, love that thing.

    I live in Florida and don’t consider it rough until white caps appear. Just test drove Ranger 220F with Merc 150. Winds on lake Harris was about 15 and increased to 25 by the time we went back to the dock. Ride was pretty nice. White caps started to form after we left so looking forward to seeing how it handles moderate white caps when I get it.

    Hey I have the exact same rig. I added a Talon to the back though. We just got back from scalloping over by crystal river with it today.

    I'm in the market for a boat and am looking heavily at the sun tracker fishing pontoons, if you get a chance to film yourself launching and recovering your boat that'd be super helpful! Thanks for the content!

      Thanks for your comment, it is high on my list to get a video of a launch and recovery, I will do it soon. I highly recommend these boats, for the price point they are offered at.

    Is the 75 enough power? I just rented one at Cedar Key with a 60 with 5 people, it was under powered. Would you do anything different? Looks like a great boat! Thanks

    • @northfloridafishing904
      @northfloridafishing904  Před rokem +1

      It is rated for a 75hp max, and this is good enough for us. With just me and my wife, I can hit 25 mph. It is no speed boat, but we are really happy and would not change anything right now. We cannot wait to go over to Cedar Key for the weekend and stay in a waterfront cottage there, any recommendations?

    That was great to see how smooth she ran. We pick our Bass Buggy 18 up tomorrow. If you mentioned it in the video I didn't catch it, but what size Mercury did you go with?

    Can you talk a little about your trolling motor setup? I want to add one to my Bass Buggy, and am looking at options.

    family and i want a pontoon as well. they told us 33k with trailer for the same boat but its 2024. is that a fair price?

    • @northfloridafishing904
      @northfloridafishing904  Před 2 měsíci

      I think that is the same as I paid 1 year ago, but we love the boat and very happy to have it, it just seems so big and comfortable from what we have had before. I wouldn't want 6 or 7 adults on here all day but for 2 of us its great.

  • @bcarss1970

    Is that a 60 on there or a 75? Have you ever had it in the salt? I am looking for bay boat for fishing in NJ. Thanks.

    • @northfloridafishing904
      @northfloridafishing904  Před rokem +2

      It is the 75 hp, always get the most motor that you can. I use it in salt all the time here in Florida, we love fishing in this boat it is so much more comfortable than the other boats we have had.

  • @thecrappiepilehunter3794

    Very nice boat sir and I wish they told me I could've got the 75hp when I got mine. My 18dlx is on my page if you wanna have a look.

    What does the boat draft ? Can I take that boat in the flats in Florida and fish ?

    • @northfloridafishing904
      @northfloridafishing904  Před 3 měsíci

      I just measured from about where the boat rides to the bottom of the motor all the way down it is about 24 to 27 inches. Hope that helps.

    Nice boat. Have you run it in salt water too?

    • @northfloridafishing904
      @northfloridafishing904  Před rokem +1

      Yes, we use it in saltwater as well, there is no way to avoid that here in Florida. I use a pressure washer with a soap dispenser to real hose it down well, especially the trailer after each time out.

      Good advice, but the first few videos I did were just with my phone, I might upgrade equipment in the future or maybe just try to figure out how to lower the volume on the wind noise piece.
      Thanks
