I really thought the "fail" in the title meant the jack failed but it really didn't. The jack did what it was supposed to do. I'm happy with my purchase of the same jack.
you're right, I was a newb(with jacks) when I made this video. I have since learned to use it better by placing it under the control arms on taller trucks. Works fine with cars as is. In general its a fine product, similar to any cheap way-mart one.
I knew I was buying a cheaply made jack but it'll mainly be used for my riding mower to change the tires. I'm sure it'll be fine for that. Bought the HF jack stands too.

Put the jack under the lower A-arm from the front of the vehicle and it should lift it quite nicely. Then use a jack stand under the point your were originally lifting from for safety. The same thing goes for lifting the rear. Hope this helps! Take care, G.

hey bro! I recommend using a piece of 1x2 wood and putting it on top of the cup that raises and makes contact with the car's chassis. It's good idea, most jacks tend to use a piece of wood to absorb some of the metal to metal impact.

Mine works like a charm. I keep it in my trunk for flat tires. Doesn't take up hardly any room and it a far sight better than the scissors jack (piece of crap) that came with the car.

I just bought one of these for my everyday driver just to change a flat. I tossed the scissor jack in my garage lol. Yes these are cheap but they work for changing flat tires.
Don’t complain about the amount of force you need to push the handle. The length is smaller than most jacks, therefore you need to apply more force to apply the same amount of torque. If you want it to be easier extend the handle

Sure I know now, but I once bought larger jack stands thinking only that they'd be safer - only to find that the jack I already owned wouldn't lift the car high enough to even slide the new stands under. So when you're just starting out these things might not be so obvious. As you say these jacks can still have their uses.
I figure if this SUV weights at most 4000 pounds, if I'm lifting one wheel off the ground, therefore at least half the car Is still on the ground, I'm not using more than one ton that way. Thanks for the stupid comment btw.

Yes, if I'm ever under the car I do use two separate jacks, they were not shown in this video because I was simply just testing the total lift heigh of this cheap jack. and btw, are you an apple fan? or maybe Samsung androids? guess what both are built in china. ENJOY!!!
The jack is OK, while it works, ... you just need to buy one that goes up enough for the height of the vehicle you plan to used it on. The piece of wood would do the job for around a 2" extra lift. Regardless the above, beware: I had this same jack and used it about 10 times. Worked fine until the last time, when one of the metal supports (arms) that hold it up just twisted and the car dropped! So, I am sad to say that this item is quite dangerous.

I know the average weight of a 6 cyl pickup is about 3k pounds. At 4k pounds (prob actually around 3800 max) it seems like a 2 ton jack would be able to lift most rears or fronts of most pick ups / SUVS. I'm wondering how these cheaper jacks hold up against older manufactured japanese or american jacks. Have these cheaper jacks from harbor freight broken down on you after 10 or more uses?
I use this same jack when working on my 2011 Camry. No complaints at all as far as reliability (used it over 10 times). Though it's too small to lift the entire front of my car without 4in of wood.
If having to remove a tire, most often you should lift the vehicle under the control arm ( I own 4x4 trucks and so the jack goes under the rear or front axle) so the tire almost instantly starts to raise off of the ground once you started pumping the jack. If you lift the vehicle under it's body, this will most often just lift the body up while the suspension/axle/tire will just keep relaxing down thus doesn't lift off of the ground or will only lift very little off of the ground
This should really just be in the vehicle to change flats. If people want one for their garage then get the 1.5 ton or 3 ton floor jacks.. This isnt meant as a main jack..
You need the larger trolley jack for the larger & heavier vehicle , it’s not safe to use that size jack for a jeep or van using a piece of wood on top at all .
I've seen these in the UK (re-badged China 2 ton) for £13 -£17 at the least. This vid made me curious. I've got a better old one I've had for years but, I was wondering they should be fine for motorcycles should anyone need one for little jobs like chain adjustments, to get the rear wheel off the ground. For that would make a decent spare. I would get an axle stand underneath it as fast as possible though on that SUV!
hey buddy! I thought that at first also, but let me assure you, this jack is fine and I still use it once in a while, nothing has broken. Just be sure to pump the handle slowly and it will be fine. This is a very cheap model, so that is to be expected, but it works just fine and is very compact so you can easily drive around with it in your car.
WTH - are you nuts - there is nothing wrong with this jack??? I bought one and I have a stock Jeep Wrangler and just did a tire rotation on my jeep using this jack. Worked perfectly. It only goes so high dude and it says it on the box. If you want it to go any higher then put a spacer on it like a 2x4 or something or buy one that's taller. There is no fail in the video. The jack performs as designed. It also fits nice and neatly under the back seat in the Wrangler. When I do a lift kit on my Wrangler I will put an extension on this jack to go higher.
I just bought the exact same thing here in Canada, only rebranded Husky. Exactly the same in all aspects including the really low price. If you look on Amazon, there are a dozen different brands selling exactly the same thing in different colors for $40. All these are made at the same place in China. Tell you something: your spare jack that come inside you car trunk, is safer that all these utter horrible floor jacks. Never use one of these $40 floor jacks other than for the occasional flat tire on the side of the road and even then - never get any body part under a car supported by these absolute and dangerous junks. It's not a problem with the Pittsburgh brand - they have other amazing floor jacks and tools, it's the problem with the industry how is putting on the market these very very low cost products. If you ever buy car parts (suspension, bushings, tie rods, etc) you already know that the market is flooded with $5 car parts that last from a few days to at best 2 months. That's what's happening with the market today: all companies are selling very very low quality parts at incredible low prices that have absolutely no durability and quality to them - why ? - simply because unfortunately there are buyers for these, so who says buyers says profits.
Space warrior it's a 2 ton jack. It's good for changing a spare on most cars. If a car weighs 4,000lbs (2 tons) your only lifting part of the car for a flat. It will do fine.
I bought a better one at HF and almost get killed when one swivel caser wheels broke. The fall damaged my fog light and more: cost of repair for my Mercedes is 500!

You want to return it and buy a bottle jack? That might work fine for the SUV, but I just had to return a bottle jack I bought at Harbor Freight because it was too tall for my standard height VW Golf. You're probably better off buying a 3 ton floor jack with a larger lift range, or buying that bottle jack in addition to this trolley jack.

bought the similar one from torin called the "big red", wouldn't lift my blazer off the ground. took it right back. I'm sure it would work great for cars, not so much for suvs

I'm sure this thing will work in a pinch I just prefer bigger jacks that you can throw right under the frame and toss the truck up in the air, but full disclaimer my craftsman jack is pretty small too so I'm not trying to talk shit lol, and at the end of the day if you can get the wheels off the ground with a cheaper jack than that's a win!

I guess you have to know your vehicle. Bought the same jack to work on my Miata, it works exactly as I hoped. I’m pretty sure it will work on my Fit as well. Not a good choice for something further off the ground and or heavier.

hey buddy! thanks for watching. I still have this jack and use it quite frequently, it's been perfect. Anyway, I don't own any real SUVs or trucks. All my cars weight less than 2 tons. Plus when you jack up the car you're not lifting the entire weight, at most you're putting up 25% of the jacks capacity anyway.
hello, this is a basic small and cheap floor jack with wheels. IT works well enough, no issues since purchase. Maybe you are referring to a bottle type jack, this isn't one of those.

You would take a car only a few years old to a garage for an MOT (road worthiness test) & they would say it would cost more than it's worth to repair because of underside rust & stuff. And you would be better buying a new one. They're a little bit better these days.
$100 buys you a 2 ton jack of 3 feet long having a lever of another 3 feet. With an arm that raises your wheels half a meter up in the air. Why use a tiny $15 2 ton jack?

For better operation, it's suggested you always bleed it so there won't be any air inside it and it'll lift easier. Those trolley jacks are mostly meant for smaller and lower cars, I don't know why they claimed it can tow light trucks. I have this trolley jack on my small car and the 3 ton heavy duty on the trucks and works great.

hey buddy! So I still have this jack to this day and it has not failed. I use it pretty frequently, and I have realized that if you jack up the taller cars under the suspension arms it works perfectly also. So it's a good buy overall.

I've had one like that for over 20 years..I keep it lubed and replaced the jack oil with ATF, which also makes it usable at sub 0 °F temps..

That Jack is not made for trucks and suvs like that. That jack is made for little cars like civics that weight 3000 lbs. or less.

I drive a fiat punto, I just lift the car up when I need to change a flat

I guess you have to know your vehicle. Bought the same jack to work on my Miata, it works exactly as I hoped. I’m pretty sure it will work on my Fit as well. Not a good choice for something further off the ground and or heavier.
hey buddy! I still have this jack, and it's fine. I use it from time to time and it's good enough for most jobs. BTW I realized you could put it under the A-ARM of the taller trucks and it's fine. Still not totally ideal, but it's enough to change a wheels.

Not if you use plywood. Just cut a few pieces of appropriate size and glue them together to the thickness you want. Good for life.
The jack works. The owner, not so much. There was no fail from this jack.

hey buddy! thanks for watching. I still have this jack and use it quite frequently, it's been perfect. Anyway, I don't own any real SUVs or trucks. All my cars weight less than 2 tons. Plus when you jack up the car you're not lifting the entire weight, at most you're putting up 25% of the jacks capacity anyway.

This jack is great as a safety jack in addition to jack stands to double the safety while working under the car.
I've since gotten to like this jack and it still performs flawlessly. If you use it under the a-arms then the height is fine.

hello, this is a basic small and cheap floor jack with wheels. IT works well enough, no issues since purchase. Maybe you are referring to a bottle type jack, this isn't one of those.

it seems like you have no hydraulic jack fluid in it. You would need to add some through the service hole, check here on you tube for that subject.

i nkow, the whle side rails are rusty near the jack point. Body is fine, its aluminum. All suspension parts are alum too.
3mariusx In the eighties & early 90's over here in the UK it was like that. You would take a car only a few years old to a garage for an MOT (road worthiness test) & they would say it would cost more than it's worth to repair because of underside rust & stuff. And you would be better buying a new one. They're a little bit better these days.
$100 buys you a 2 ton jack of 3 feet long having a lever of another 3 feet. With an arm that raises your wheels half a meter up in the air. Why use a tiny $15 2 ton jack?
@Mr602 Exactly. I bought one for my car that weighs 2 tons. I only plan on using this for changing a flat tire. Only part of the car is lifted so these are good enough.

For better operation, it's suggested you always bleed it so there won't be any air inside it and it'll lift easier.
Those trolley jacks are mostly meant for smaller and lower cars, I don't know why they claimed it can tow light trucks. I have this trolley jack on my small car and the 3 ton heavy duty on the trucks and works great.
I bought this jack today for my everyday driver car. It'll only be used to change a flat tire if it ever happens. For the $30 bucks it should do fine.

hey buddy! So I still have this jack to this day and it has not failed. I use it pretty frequently, and I have realized that if you jack up the taller cars under the suspension arms it works perfectly also. So it's a good buy overall.
