S-Tier!!! See y'all Monday!!!
One of the greatest rock vocalists ever.
One of the greatest rock vocalists ever.
If you want another melancholy song, but probably much more so, with a man laying his heart out, I'd recommend 'Hurt', by Johnny Cash.
Andy and Alex please consider Who's That Lady by the Isely Brothers. You will love the guitar work. I just found a version of Who's that Lady cover by Box Scaggs, Micheal McDonald and Donald Fagen , the band is the Dukes of September.
Cultural note: When you had long hair in 1972, you could get your ass beat in a truck stop. That's what he was talking about.
Yeah, that's a cultural reference that would probably be lost on people from Andy & Alex's generation. These days, it isn't considered particularly odd or remarkable for a guy to have long hair, and really hasn't excited much comment since... oh, the mid-80s or so, for the most part -- but back in the early-to-mid-'70s, it was *definitely* not considered fashionable or acceptable, especially outside of college towns or areas which were already known for having a strong streak of non-conformism to begin with.
Yep, either that or gang up, hold em’ down and attack his hair with scissors like with early hippies in Humboldt County CA, where I used to live.
I didn’t know anyone who didn’t have long hair in 72.
It is funny how different countries can be. I was in high school in the 70s and almost every guy in my school had long hair to at least his shoulders. Of course it was in a Vancouver BC. Some of the guys you would least want to mess with had hair part way down their backs.
I was 2 yrs old then so I was a long hair as well, no haircut yet. I was a part time nudist and pissed wherever I wanted to. I was a badass until bath time. Those were the days!
When Kid Rock inducted Bob Seger into The Rock an Roll Hall Of Fame he said "Bob Seger paid more dues than the entire current top 100" FACT!
Love the Bob Seger induction into the R&R Hall of Fame. Loved Kid Rocks speech. Another good one was Led Zeppelin with Jack Black. Seeing Robert Plant tear up when Heart played Stairway to Heaven with John Bonhams son on the drum gave me goosebumps. Love to watch the inductions, so many great artists. But I think Seger & Zeppelin have been the best.
@@emmef7970 again,Frigid Pink House of the rising sun
SO FACT.....
That was super cool of him. I can see him giving mad props to Bob. Totally awesome
💯
This isn't just a song, It's a Rock Anthem!!
"Is that a woman or a man" is a reference to the negative attitudes among the middle and working classes towards guys with long hair back in the '60s and '70s. A guy who looked like Bob Seger would have gotten the stink-eye because of his looks if he'd walked into a diner or a truck stop back then.
Exactly...I had a ponytail to my waist from 1972 to 2000. In those 28 yrs, I must have been insulted at least 20 times by some goof saying " Are you a girl or a boy?" I always answered them the same way. I'd look them square in the eye and say "How bad do you want to find out?" Seemed to stop the bullying right away.
Kind of a stereo typing. I grew up with Segar, most of my friends had long hair and their parents were middle class parents. There is always judgmental people in the world - its called insecure
This exactly is it. A "long and lonesome highway east of Omaha" is Iowa. Farmers. Where I grew up. And that's how they'd act. Everyone would stare at the strangers walking through the door.
What is a man supposed to look like?
The question i ask them when they talk shit. About my hair.
They never have an answer.
"And the sign said, 'Long-haired freaky people need not apply'
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said 'You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do'
So I took off my hat, I said 'Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!'"
- Five Man Electrical Band, 1971
Alex has Bobs hair in the 70’s😂
Haha! He does! :)
My favorite Seger song is "Night Moves"....a coming of age classic from the 70's.
Opening sax line "This sounds like sex." OK, try "Night Moves" and you'll be satisfied! Good song.
This song brings back memories of high school summers
Yourself as a youngster, then yourself during your autumn season. Deep
They just need to do NIGHT MOVES.
Probably his most famous song.
Live Bullet is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded
You are 100% right! ❤
That it is.
It's etched into my soul!! Travlin Man/Beautiful Loser together are my favorite!!
You get it!👍
Nine Tonight is also fantastic, a few years after Live Bullet so has a few more hits into the early 80s... Bob and the band just always bring it... had that on double vinyl and it was playing all the time when i was a kid.
Just do yourselves a favor, just listen to the whole “Live Bullet” album.
Exactly
Yes please
This is one of the greatest live albums from 1st song to the last. If they ever want to do a full album review of live albums, this must be in the running. It would be my choice
I saw him in concert. Such a tight and talented band.
What he said.
Bob Seger's music story is a fantastic Rabbit hole discovery.
Where can it be found?

" "Travelin' Man/ Beautiful Loser" off the same album" Agree 100%. You just have to hear it.
Agreed!
KILLER track. GOTTA happen, A & A. Ssssssmokin' - on many levels.
The whole side 1 is outstanding. Timeless!
Yes, Traveling man/ Beautiful loser is very tasty! Definitely need to react to this one. Also, agree with A+ on Turn the page!
Yes, absolutely!!!🎶🎶
"It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our lifelong friend and band mate, Alto Reed. Alto passed away this morning at his home with his family by his side after fighting a courageous battle with colon cancer. Alto has been a part of our musical family, on and off stage, for nearly 50 years. I first started playing with Alto in 1971. He was amazing - he could play just about anything…he was funky, could scat and play tenor sax and alto sax at the same time.We worked with Alto often and when we booked our first headline arena gigs at Cobo Hall, we asked him to be a part of those shows. No doubt his iconic performance on Turn The Page helped lift us to another level. He has been with us on that stage virtually every show, ever since. And whether it was Turn The Page, Mainstreet, or Old Time Rock And Roll, audiences roared every time he played his part. In our band, Alto was the rock star.Off stage, Alto had a passion for discovering and experiencing new things. He taught me how to sail on Biscayne Bay, we swam with the sharks (unintentionally!), and he often introduced us to local foods and restaurants he had discovered. I called him Captain. He was bolder than I was. I remember visiting him in the Miami area and I found him feeding the manatees in a lagoon behind his house. Most of us feed the seagulls, Alto fed the manatees! Alto started a family and was a fabulous father. He helped raise two talented, beautiful, intelligent young ladies. Over the years, his passion for music, life and new adventures never diminished. We loved him like a brother and will miss him forever." - Bob Seger
Did he feed him lettuce? I am sorry to hear about your friend. I always enjoyed both of your music.
Goosebumps every time...the loneliness of the road..the longing for loved one...the fear of cultural rejection...the pain of the aftermath of performing..it's all there!
This is autobiographical. He was considered a Journeyman who paid his dues before making it big!
He was overly cautious and didn't want to go into debt, so he kept all his early tours close to Detroit. His first hit was in 1969, but they didn't break big until this live album
When Kid Rock inducted Bob Seger to the Roock and Roll Hall of fame, he said "Bob Seger has payed more dues than all the artists on the current top 40 list combined". He wasn't kidding. Bob Seger is beyond S tier.
Traveling Man, Beautiful Loser....Bob Seger....Live Bullet
Bob Seger is the real deal. He had been playing in local Detroit bands since 1961, and you are hearing, in this song, a man 14 yrs into a career of obscure struggle. He had seen little success outside the Detroit area, where we loved him, and this song is his account of the mental/emotional strain of the experience. This 1975 live album was very well received, but still did not translate to stardom. Check this quote out:
"Yet still, Seger had a popularity imbalance. In June 1976, he was a featured performer at the Pontiac Silverdome outside Detroit in front of nearly 80,000 fans. The next night, Seger played before fewer than a thousand people in Chicago".
~ It is known
When Bob finally reached the pinnacle of success in the late 70s and 80s, it was so gratifying for we fans from his hometown region, to see an amazing storyteller and artist get his due. It felt like a victory for both Bob and the city that supported him until the rest of America caught up. It is also reported that he is a good, down to earth man, who makes time for fans. in a blue collar town, that still counts for something.
Man doesn't have a bad song! Do yourself a favor and keep listening. Saw him live back in the day...totally awesome!
Fact
Freaking unbelievable that you haven’t heard Bob Seeger!! You will get lost in his voice! CONGRATS!
Rock And Roll Never Forgets, Hollywood Nights, Feel Like A Number, Night Moves. One of the best rock and roll voices you'll ever hear.
Feel Like A Number is sooo good. Shoulda been a hit for him.
Against the Wind
Jamie Williams ‘wish I didn’t know now, what I didn’t know then’. One of the best lines in rock and roll.😎🥂
Yes, they are missing the target. These songs are spot on as representative of Seger's career.
Also Old Time Rock and Roll
There are not ANY bad Bob Seeger songs. The guy is a fantastic wordsmith with the soul of Motown.
Live Bullet is definitely what you would play on a road trip ❤
And still do 50 years later!
Rock n roll Never Forgets, Main street and Night Moves. Seger is the real deal!
Lived on Main street...lol
Yes! Please! And soon!
Absolutely agree.
Not sure why, but "Mainstreet" brings a tear to my eye...
Two of my favorite songs of his are the slower ones, Mainstreet and Shame On the Moon.
His words are direct; his thoughts are uncluttered. He does more with 10 syllables than most do with a complete stanza. Main Street hits deeply.
Metoo. I thought I was the ONLY fool who thinks that song is incredibly sad. 😢
Me too -
"Famous Final Scene" does it for me!
Bob Seger is the epitome of Rock and Roll!
Simply THE Best!
Alex and Andy, how can you not call this an S? it is one of the best live songs ever by one of the best rock singers ever, backed by one of the best bands ever. That's without even getting into lyrics' poetry and imagery. No one else can invoke a mood or an emotion like Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in just a few spare notes. I'm a writer and I'm sitting here shaking my head and bereft of the words to describe what he means to an entire generation
"Night Moves", " Hollywood Nights", "We've Got Tonight"," Mainstreet", "Against The Wind", "Even Now", "Her Strut."
Yeah, do Her Strut next simply because it's so different and funky and, of course, great.
Perfect....even in the right order!
Sunspot Baby!
"Ramblin Gamblin Man" will show you where he really came from in the 60's with his gritty Detroit rock n' soul. He paid dues for a decade before he hit big, as he's said "I've never had a tour bus because we went straight from station wagons to jets". Also worked in an auto plant, the real deal, that's why praise for fake-ass blue collar-wannabe Springsteen grinds my gears. Keep it rolling!
Ryan Poortenga never knew Springsteen wasn’t blue-Collar.....
dude, no hating on Springsteen. they are both legit, but just working different areas of rock.
This album is Patreon worthy. Bob is the MAN, no matter what he sings. He could sing a toxicology report and make it burn.
Saw him in concert 1976. He opened for Black Sabbath. Most of us left when he was done.
It was Soooo good.
"Mainstreet", "Night Moves", "We've Got Tonight", "Her Strut", "Against The Wind" " Hollywood Nights" "Even Now" " Roll Me Away"
"Still The Same", "You'll Accompany Me", C'est La Vie", "Shame On The Moon"
Amazing how many great songs he has.
Like a Rock, Travelin’ Man/Beautiful Loser (live).
"Fire Lake" is my under the Radar song, but "Night Moves" is the recommended song for the entry level listener of Bob Seger.
Her Strut. 💜
He does have a ton of songs, but Night Moves... Night Moves, Night Moves, and Night Moves... and if I didn't mention it, Night Moves.
After that, Against the Wind, Hollywood Nights and Mainstreet are must listens.
"Horizontal Bop" is my under the Radar recommendation, but Agreed, "Night Moves" is the recommended song for the entry level listener of Bob Seger.
Spot on, Night Moves and Against The Wind!
Night moves makes me feel like I was a teenager during that era, even though I'm decades removed from it.
After that, my personal favorites are "Still the Same" "Hollywood Nights" and "Rock and Roll Never Forgets"
I could not agree more. Thanks for writing this post for me. And everyone else who is going to agree with you. NIGHT MOVES. Do you remember how much play this got? The whole album is incredible. Sometimes I think they end up with the wrong tracks to represent the artists initially.
He has a lot of high quality songs but " Night Moves " is his masterpiece.
Bob Seger’s “Against The Wind” is one of his greatest songs too
I most heartily agree. After a breakup long ago, I sat in a bar and played it on the juke box for hours until they chased me out of the bar
His best of many extraordinary songs.
"Turn The page" is one of the reasons I play guitar.... full stop.
The lyric "is that a woman or a man" relates to the long hair culture wars in the 60's and 70's. This was the common insult thrown at men with long hair. Your generation probably doesn't experience that, but you have your own battles to fight.
Yeah... men’s long hair was a big issue back then. Funny that, because of the size of his crew, he was safe from, all to common, harrassment.
One of the best rock and roll storytellers EVER.
Being from Michigan, where he is from, he's a god here.
Bob Segar and the Silver bullet band.
Are always perfection.
SEGER NOT SEGAR!
Is that a woman or a man comes from the fact that it was the 70s, he was a long hair and those comments were often said as a slam
A friend, who's hair was like Brian May's and also a guitarist, dining somewhere in Texas, he hears a man say to another man, 'That boy has more hair on his head than some of my sheep.'
Even today I'd argue long hair on men isn't really socially acceptable. Society seems to prefer men to look like they are ready for the military.
Those of us that were around then, knew exactly what he was talking about. Thanks for explaining it for the Boys though.
At that time not everyone was comfortable with guys having long hair. From one who was asked to leave a restaurant in Dallas and made fun of in a Mid West Texas town because of it at just the time this song came out.
Yes that feeling was everywhere and my hair wasn't even that long. My solidarity with black lives came from that feeling even though the hatred was 100 thousand times worst.
LIVE BULLET is fantastic from beginning to end.
If you want to hear Bob Seger grit then Katmandu is your song. Guaranteed S tier.
Such a great lyricist and story teller. One of the greatest lines ever written is in the Bob Seger song "Against the Wind", Seger fans already know what I'm gonna say, the line is "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then". EVERY time I hear that line, I close eyes and shake my head not on purpose, it just kinda happens.
Absolutely right when you said "Seger fans already know what I'm gonna say." The funny thing is that Bob put that line in as a place saver, intending to replace it because he thought it sounded dumb and didn't make sense. His friends who he ran the song by convinced him to keep it in. Lucky for him, because that's the line that grabs you.
My favorite line from ANY song I ever heard. But I do know now what I didn't know then and even with the regret, I am better because I know.
@@janesharp4341 So cool to hear others say exactly what you feel. Unquestionably the greatest lyric I have ever heard.
@@jimbass5825 Thanks, I clearly remember that phrase from the very first time I heard that song. Second fav: "Janie was lovely, she was the queen of my nights, laying in the dark with the radio playing low...."
I don't miss my youth however, but I do miss that wistfulness that it held.
The original saying goes , Wish I knew then what I know now! SEGER put his own Spin on it!
His storytelling is like watching a 3D movie in your head. Please check out: "Mainstreet", "Night Moves", "We've Got Tonight", "Her Strut", "Against The Wind"
Like a rock
I like "Fire Lake." But "Night Moves" is the recommended song for the entry level listener of Bob Seger.
@@pennywells9824 For all Chevy fans!
Well put. I never could quite put a finger on why his lyrics are so good and you just nailed it
I forgot about "Her Strut". I believe it was written about Jane Fonda during the height of her activist days.
Come To Poppa; Seger. If you like that sax then Gerry Rafferty, Bakers Street
Couldn't agree more with the sentiment!!! Was just listening to "Baker Street " last night. Love that sax!!
Right Down the Line by Rafferty, too. Also, for the catchiest sax I've ever heard, "The One You Love" by Glen Frey.
If they haven’t done Baker Street yet ... oh maaaaan. They gotta.
Seger has a huge catalog of classics
“Out there in the spotlight you’re a million miles away. Every ounce of energy you try to give away, as the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.

'AGAINST THE WIND'....
Music of my youth. Man we had the BEST music.....
If you want to enjoy another magnificent "band on the road" song, you have to do Jackson Browne "The Load Out/Stay A Little Longer. Of course it must be the live version. ENJOY.
I second this. Is there a version of this that isn't live?
Was just jamming to that song yesterday, great song(s).
There’s a lot on that album to love. Like Running On Empty, or The Road. The coolest thing about The Road is the venue change in the middle. Many years ago I used that song to teach my late son’s elementary school class about echolocation. Jackson Browne is a killer songwriter but he doesn’t have Seeger’s voice.
Otis Dylan That album was recorded on the road, in hotel rooms, on the bus, in venues. In the case of The Road, the first half of the song was recorded in a hotel room and the second half in a venue, it may have been Meriwether Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD.
@@koshersalaami That's true, but I was asking abut "The Load Out/Stay", not the whole album.
Bob Seger's Come to Poppa has got me though many of a day in this life. Never did find my poppa but I still dream of him.
Bob Seger first hit the charts with a great rock song: "ramblin Gamblin Man"
How about East Side Story/
Night Moves is the quintessential Bob Seger song. An absolutely must listen.
The whole album is a must
Absolutely ❗❗
Fire Lake too
Yes
“Against the Wind”
“Fire Lake”
“Her Strut”
“Night Moves”
Good Stuff!
Great list. Sunspot Baby.
Yeah and Ramblin Gamblin Man too, which was a big hit for him before anyone knew who he was. It never got a lot of classic rock radio airplay, but Tarantino used it in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last year, giving it a little bit of a comeback
Chase Wingard no disrespect but why do so many love Fire Lake? IMO it’s one of the weakest songs he’s put out. Corny lyrics, weird countryish style. Shame on the Moon is far better if you’re into Country Bob.
Forgot Still the Same.
Joe Casey
You had to be there...
Lol! I’m actually a Rocker.
"Roll Me Away" will give u more goosebumps in a happy, upbeat way. Bob is phenomenal. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many killer, genuinely-lovable and now legendary rock classics.
"Being on stage is like being naked a little bit." See... this is what makes you guys more than just a couple of college students reacting.
Night Moves. Note the shift in the lyrics in the third verse, where he’s now looking back on his younger years and ruminating on what it means to get older. Some of the most poignant lyrics ever.
Kent Zepick love that song. Seger let’s the song breathe too over a few bars. Slows it all down till it almost stops. Very evocative, reflective “with autumn closing in...”. Master story teller and songwriter/ musician.
Yes, they simply must do this song to get the proper exposure to Bob Seger. Bob Seger is a great choice for these guys that seem to have a lot of Boomer subscribers. Remember Seger was in his Thirties when this "breakthrough" album was released. The whole album is a masterpiece IMO. They could do a listen to the whole thing and that would be epic for us, would it not?
David Terry I agree! I wish I had been able to see him in concert before he retired. He is one of the few artists you can confidently enjoy the entire album. Any album. 🙂
Love move the boomers! I am Gen X myself. 1970
Night Moves should have been first.
When he barely gets out that "last night I woke to sound of thunder" and his voice is wavering, I AT LEAST tear up every time. The dude is a master of invoking emotions through his singing. Its incredible
"Mainstreet" "Come To Papa" "Night Moves" "You'll Accompany Me" "Her Strut" "Against The Wind"......And so on.
For a saucy vocal performance by Seger, one of my favorites is “Fire Down Below.” I think you guys would love it.
I really can't explain it but one of my favorites off of live bullet was always not Bush city limits
"Katmandu" on the same 'Live Bullet' album has even more killer raucous live vocals
"Night Moves"
Another great ballad is "Main Street"
“Night Moves”, 😜 “Her Strut”, “against the Wind”, “Main Street.” I suggest “Her Strut” and “Night Moves” next- 2 different feels but just as damn tasty! ❤️❤️💟☮️🤘🏼✌️
Yes, definitely, Her Strut
You must listen to “Main Street” and “Her Strut”. Different sound but both are incredible. Another with a different sound and not as popular, is “Fire Lake”. Thank you! -Brandi K

Travellin' Man/Beautiful Loser absolutely killer on Live Bullit.
"Damn right you better clap for that."
Hell yes.
THIS is the Bob Seger song that I have played over and over and over and NEVER got tired of hearing or singing along to.
There's no one like Seger. He's one of a kind!
"Sun Spot Baby" is cute little ditty. All of his songs tell a story.
Sun Spot is my fav Seger cut....and I struggle to think of many of his I don’t love! Just reminds me of growing up in Detroit.
Another nice one is The Famous Final Scene.
Riding around with my dad when I was a young child, Bob Segar and the Eagles remind me of those days, my dad used to love to play them.
i hear it as a tribute to all bands, not just leads, who used to spend so much of their lives traveling from city to city to give their fans what they wanted. their talent created larger than life alter egos, changing the performers into actors. another show means more solitude and separation from the personal life they want
Also: new group. CROSBY, STILLS, NASH AND YOUNG. Either Suite: Judy Blue Eyes or Carry On to get started. MUST start with one of those 2 in my humble opinion, but there's a shit ton of great stuff by them.
Wooden ships too.
I think Southern Cross would be a good starting point too. I know it's a bit of a later one, but the harmonies in the chorus are so beautiful.
I've been asking them for weeks now to do them. The iconic harmony voices of the 60's & 70's. 🔥🔥🔥
Don't forget "Ohio"
Woodstock
Same album, "Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser" (another "multi-song" song!), it's a must-listen. ;)
I second that.
@@vestel777 Third - MUST be the live version - talk about the sauce!

Check out “Get out of Denver” and “Kathmandu”. You can’t find a bad song on the disc!
Giant +1 for "Get out of Denver". Real hard-driving traditional Rock 'n' Roll. Some of the very best ever.
Agree, both songs are excellent live, much better than the studio versions. Totally worthy of an A&A review. Here's hoping.
Bob Seger was my parents favorite band of course they saw this Live Bullet. I believe they saw the band 20 plus times in several states they were so ridiculously good from start to finish.I grew up o this music heard it almost everyday along with CCR and just about every other great band in this time.I feel blessed I was able to grow up with such great music.
Bob Seger is such a Word Painter. I love your reactions and review of songs and music. You guys are listening and reviewing the soundtrack of my life. Imagine these songs out for the first time on radio n records. You guys get it.
Indeed. We were so very blessed.
All his tunes are decent, with most in the “story teller” mode... his earlier work tended to be grittier. To hear Seger at the other end of the spectrum you definitely need “Hollywood Nights” or Rambling Gambling Man” & “Kathmandu”...
Decent?
Couldn't agree with you more. Of course with a name like yours, I have to agree.
This is one of his mellow ballads. Bob can rock it out hard. Get to those!
"Main Street" is my favorite one.
I agree!
Main Street😁‼️‼️🎤🎶🎶
Top 3 for me, but it paints THE best visual of all his songs. I think the guys should hold off on Main Street and Roll Me Away and do a couple of up tempo ones next.
Yup it gets me right in my heart. Every single time.
Love Bob Seger!!! My favorite
I love this song, it's a tough call between the music or the words, I love the words in this. Any and all of his songs are incredible. I love that you picked up on there I am up on the stage...that's it's a job, he's separate from HIM.
His best vocally, Hollywood Nights by far!!
Yes!!
“Is that a woman or a man” was a snarky insult made to guys with long hair back in the 70s.
yeah... thought Alex would have caught that.
Anita R True👍🏻
Was lucky enough to make this concert in my home town of Detroit at Cobo Hall, downtown on the Detroit river. No sex ever left the lasting impression as that song live!! First time I seen Bob Seger was at “Notre Damn” high school on 8 Mile. They were known as the “Bob Seger System”. It cost 4 cans of soup to get in. Last school dance they ever played. They had just came out with “2 + 2 Is On My Mind”. Great song, and the rest is history!!!
Yeah 2 + 2 was kinda his first early bigger hit.
dawg every single time he starts singing the hook tha last time at tha end it ALWAYS gives me goosebumps, tha way he belts it out mannnn
He's total mainstream rock n roll. Can't deny AOR radio loved him to death, he got endless airplay of a lot of his songs.
Agree. His albums are packed with Radio Hits! Not cheesy ones either.
I love Seger but he did get over played on many stations
Back in the 60's and Early 70's "is that a woman or a man" was a tired cliche any guy with long hair heard too often.
Alex would have heard it!
Into the 80s as well.
I remember my High School VP grabbing me back the back of the head and saying "When are you going to get a Hair Cut"? Ahh Good ol' days. ;o)
I even had this on metal concert man rest rooms. A guy stepping in, take a look at me an thinks he's in the womans rest room :) Guess I was just too pretty..
If you were growing up in the early to late 60's and had long hair it was more than a cliche. If you were in the wrong neighborhood it could get you in real trouble fast - or worse. I think the point he was making was 'playing the star' involved more than just 16 hour road trip, one night stands, and sweat pour out your body. It also involved other real dangers too. At least where I grew up. His statement about you always seem out numbered and you don't dare make a stand meant a lot to many of us that grew up during that era. For us, you had to watch your back, don't get caught alone. I didn't even live in the worst areas. I knew of areas much worse than mine, which I pretty much avoided as much as possible. They used standard bully tactics. The never missed an opportunity to push it and never seemed to be alone. There was always the leader. Sometime you could get out of it if you could take out the leader - fast. Been there, done that - when there was absolutely no other way.
These were no joking, cliche, matters where I grew up - many people took it very seriously. They just started the harassing with 'is that a lady or a man' before it got pushed further.
Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man-
Early Bob Seger. Great Song!
This is my favorite Bob Seger song.
Growing up near Detroit, we were exposed to a lot of Seger. Much like Springsteen, he is the great Rock n Roll story teller.
Lyrics remind my a bit of Paul Simon.
Closer to Springsteen. I see now they’re stopping songs to hear the lyrics. If they’d been doing that when they listened to Thunder Road, they’d have been a lot more impressed.
Segers a legend, so much so, Metallica covered this song.
Legend 🌿💜
Metallica's cover of this is SO good.
Right, when Metallica covers you, you're the Man!
it's a song of real loneliness
As much as I appreciate Metallica, their version falls short. No shame, tough to top this one
Recorded live "Cobo Hall Detroit"1976 Bob's a Detroit legend!
Her Strut is a guttural classic Rock song with unbelievable guitar licks. My volume 11 when I listen to it!!
If is could sing, I would want to sound like Bob Seger.
Me too!! And I'm a woman. Lol
"Night Moves" is Seger's most iconic song. I'd also suggest "Hollywood Nights" for a faster paced recording.
I agree! Night Moves is the song!
And Against the Wind is another classic
NIGHT MOVES
Yes. Night Moves' is one of the most honest songs ever.
hollywood nights its the drum tempo that gets me
Hey Andy and Alex, here’s one you MUST do: Jackson Browne’s Live Album version of Load Out/Stay!!
100%
YES!!!!
OK I've read a couple hundred comments and can't believe Beautiful Loser / Travelin' Man from the same Live album hasn't been suggested. It's an eight minute track but it perfectly captures how much effort Seger and the Silver Bullet Band put into every concert.
My favorite Bob S song. Guys your going to love him. Other great songs “Like a Rock,” was used in Chevy Truck commercials. Bob gave the song to them for them to use. Ol Time Rock & Roll” was used in the movie “Risky Business” probably have heard both of these.✨Then “Night Moves,” Still the Same” Against the Wind” I don’t think he has a bad song. Bob stopped touring in 2018-19. 🔥🔥🔥🔥I forgot one “Katmandu” it’s fast pace song. Bob is my favorite rock story tellers & he can belt them out.🤘🏼
Anyone who saw risky business heard Bob while Tom dances
I had completely forgotten about "Still the Same". One of his best. Chevrolet ruined "Like a Rock" for me. I can remember watching football games on Sunday and every other commercial was the one that played that song. I got sick of it.🤮
CL8ON J I hear ya, but it’s still a great song!
One of the best storytellers in rock and roll without a doubt. Try"night moves","rambliin gamblin man","travelin man/ beautiful loser","come to papa","against the wind","fire lake","like a rock","shame on the moon","famous final scene","her strut","we've got tonight". He is awesome in concert saw him several times over the last 40 plus years ☮️
Back for a Bob fix. For those who've heard the studio version, you know the live version is the shit. They honed and built this masterpiece from the raw bones of the studio version. And what an evolutioni it was. I've been a Bob Seger fan all my life. He may be getting old like all of us, but his music stands the test of time. Turn the Page was always a favorite. This, in my mind, is a nearly perfect song. That it's recorded live only makes it that much more impressive. The way it builds with every verse and his wail of "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" near the end sends chills down my spine to this day. One of the biggest regrets of my life was not going to see them live in Kansas City when I had the chance at the top of their game.
'Like a Rock' by Bob Seger is a must, too.
"Night Moves" is a MUST if you follow up with more Seger. Another personal favorite is "Her Strut".
NIGHT MOVES
Night Moves, Roll Me Away, Against the Wind...with Bob the hits just don't end.
I absolutely love watching y’all’s reaction to songs. I’m 55 years old and I grew up in the 70s early 80s and in my opinion the 70s totally rock! Bob Seger is the man! “Turn the Page” is probably one of the best songs I think I’ve ever heard. A lot of these people who do the reaction videos don’t really pay attention to the music like you guys do. I’m going to assume that y’all have a musical background. I absolutely love watching y’all’s reactions! Keep it up dudes!!!
