Matt Monro was one of Britain’s most iconic singers.
He recorded the very first James Bond Theme song -‘From Russia With Love’ - represented Britain in the Eurovision Song contest in 1964 with ‘I Love the Little Things’ (in Copenhagen) - finishing second - and had many international hits which included ‘Born Free’, ‘Walk Away’, and ‘Portrait of My Love’.
Matt died on 7 February 1985 aged 54 and only 5 days after receiving a telegram from Frank Sinatra which said:
“Sorry to hear that you've taken ill and hope you'll soon be on the mend and up and about. I send you love and prayers.
Your fellow boy singer,
Frank Sinatra"
Frank Sinatra said of Matt:
"His pitch was right on the nose: his word enunciation letter perfect: his understanding of a song thorough.
“He will be missed very much, not only by myself, but by his fans all over the world."

I agree that 'Splendored' is the correct word for the title of the song, however, Matt's interpretation of how he chose to sing it has him clearly singing 'splendid' over 'splendored'. A good choice too as it sounds much better.
@@717007 If you listen carefully you'll notice that Matt pronounces "splendored" the British way, dropping the "r". The beautiful word "many-splendored", coined by the author, means something that spreads "multiple splendors" (flowers, golden crowns, life inspiration etc) , whereas "many splendid" is simply a grammatical error.

The singer is mispronouncing "splendid". It sounds like he's saying "splendored".
He is not mispronouncing 'splendid' he is actually singing 'splendid'. The actual name of the song is 'Love is A Many Splendored Thing' but Matt prefers to use the word 'splendid' rather than 'splendored' which I think works very well. Artistic choice and all that. I think you maybe meant to say that the other way round.
