Re: Zidane that was me on stream. It was the best play based on my hand but a horrible play in general which I would never do if my hand had anything remotely good. Chocobo Joe who was watching can attest to this. Zidane single handedly won both mirror games in Swiss and my Chark match. I just can't agree with it being a bad or overrated card. Even then at minimum it is the best dual color for those colors which is kinda needed. I think you look too much into the card advantage aspect (for which you are correct) and put too little value on the unblockable damage pressure and constant one sided information you get in a deck where your wincon is a non-sticky 7k fwd.
I’m still like.. the only person that holds the opinion haha. I think if it wasn’t the only competent Fire/Wind card, it wouldn’t even be a question but… well, it is. I still want to try Vaan a bit - the haste on Zidane is important and matters but if Vaan helps more consistently cast WoL, that’s kind of the same thing. I dunno, I get the idea of also knowledge but you also have 3 mystery cards most of the time anyway so I find the hand knowledge, outside of exactly Amat checking for Refia protection.
Fun fact about the Zack in Anthony's list. It is just there because he likes the character, but in our match he stole Xande with Zidane, so he cast xande, evraed xande, and then cast zack using xande to deal 10K and kill my Taivas. One of the funniest moments in the tourny for me.
"I think 8 bartz is too much" brother i wish i had room for more LOL. also re: the knights game on stream, i've practiced against knights a lot and you cant bartz in wol4 because serjes just says wol doesnt block. i still usually go for it but my hands those games demanded i get lightning cp to cloud the laswell and fire cp for amat. hard af matchup and the knights player has to brick, and honestly my plan was to just dodge it, which i did in swiss lol. also imo the big advantage about bartz in the mirror is that you get online faster and more consistently, not slower. both games against sam tuell first round of top cut, i got online before he did and was in full control of the match. sure if non-bartz draws all their backups and then also refia and also wol, they can get online faster, but bartz is getting online faster in 90% of games. re: the 1cp backup left up on turn 2 when doing sarah ffl for bartz stuff, it really isnt as bad as people make it out to be. you hold up the cp for cucu/amat/mist or you can just leo lb.
I’ve tested both quite a bit - it’s an interesting dilemma. If any WoL Bartz had a EX, it’d be so much easier lol. RE Serjes - you’re still basically hand ripping them and they only get the 1 Serjes bullet at which point you’ve still removed Lasswell or Delita and reduced the damage potential. I get the idea though. It’s a tough matchup for sure.
I think Fran probably super cuttable- I was worried somewhat because penelo couldn’t search herself like norch can but if I’ve already drawn three sky pirates (filo x2 + kytes) realistically I’ve drawn enough cards where I probably hit one of the other back ups. Im contemplating swapping out all together for an echidna for asurable lulu esque storm capabilities as well as asurable water cp for tidus limit break And Zack or the second tidus should probably be series realistically just for tyro probably the most impactful LB-1 cards- unfortunately can’t run the cloud all that efficiently cause I alllllways want to either triple Leo or Leo x2 tidus though I did consider Yugiri lightning ex and a copy of wind ninja back up as an alt target besides yuffie but the list felt tight and I already think it’s bordering upon too much of trying to do everything all at once and not accomplishing anything perfectly haha
I think you’re right on that the deck is extremely tight and borderline as is - Yugiri might be decent if you needed cloud access but it would muck up your LB casts for the game. Too bad there isn’t really a good Wind/Water forward, the closest is probably Aerith who feels very lackluster I think.
Yeah, between Tyro and Shantotto, I don’t doubt that you can cast the card after the early game. It’s definitely an interesting idea. It’s also just a little risky since the card is a brick until you have the right backup in play.
@@GhoulSRL Absolutely true, I just think that the potential floor of the card is nothing compared to the potential ceiling of the card. Ama lockdown is almost impossible to get out of if Unei lives a single turn just like with Ark. It is admittedly pitch fodder more often than not, but due to the high cost nature of most of the deck itself, it's not that big of a deal anyway - so far I haven't had it be a problem personally.
Newer player here, still learning the meta. I noticed a few of the blue decks playing pupu and was wondering why they opt for that over the set 1 moogle that draws before the discard
Obviously if you have cards in hand, Moogle is better than Pupu. However, the difference is pretty negligible and if you have no cards in hand, you can cast Pupu, discard 1 of the 0 cards in hand and draw 2 which is very good.
I probably know as much or more about the game than anyone on the planet haha. Was one of the people that pushed the RNG manipulation in the game to the point it is now.

3x ama chark deck guy here - shantotto can cast ama and ama bypasses gigawol special to kill threats. Ama also beats the mirror.
