PERFECT GOLF SWING TAKEAWAY DRILL - For Your Driver & Irons

  • Learn how to take the golf club away in the backswing. The first move in the backswing we call the golf swing takeaway. For many golfers learning to get a great backswing takeaway feeling can transform your golf swing. Many swing faults in the downswing can be caused during the first few feet of your backswing - your golf takeaway.
You will often see player like Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Justin Thomas still working on this fundamental part of the golf swing on a regular basis
Learning how to take the club online on the backswing can prevent unnecessary compensations (faults) such as over the top and the opening and closing of the club face.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Danny I've just had a massive light bulb moment after watching this video. Most pro don't talk about the weight and forces of the golf swing but the way you explained it made so much sense. Now I understand that I need to keep the weight of the club in front of me which I use as a feel and it puts me in all the right places. I've often ended up fanning the face open on the take away because it felt natural to me but now I understand its the momentum and the weight that was causing that. Can't thank you enough for this gem.

Inside takeaway has been my nemesis for years and the resulting blocked shot. Saw this video and immediately went to the range. Spectacular advice! Added benefit - I always use contact tape when practicing. Six shots with the driver the impression on the contact tape almost silver dollar in size. Utilizing this technique the contact impression was the size of a quarter.

Only comment here after I've applied on range or on course. Report from yesterday afternoon session (sheltering today in Kent) applying this lesson. The 'set kink in the left wrist' and the 'left arm lever' really worked for me with driver and all longer clubs. Straighter and good distance with what felt like a 75% swing. Another lightbulb moment from an admirably clear and concise lesson. Thanks and keep 'em coming Danny.

A slow low relaxed takeaway with my driver is one of the first real golf lessons I learned from my dad as a child. I'm still using the same swing some 60+ years later and it is still extremely effective. I'm known in my Club for my long fluid easy swinging drives that go a long ways down the fairway. I don't work at it. I've just learned the feel like you say in this video. If a person learns that feel it will stick with you. You are always a pleasure to watch. You make learning so easy. Just took my son out to the range with your instructions. This is his first year into playing golf and the adjustments you suggest had him hitting clean and straight within 100 or so balls. Spot on, Dan. My strongest club in the bag for some strange reason... I seem to be able to stay far more disciplined with the driver, 3 and 7 wood more than any of the others. The face and turn are key fundamentals that I have taken from you historically.

This is brilliant... I've always taken the club back inside, and known I do so, but struggled to find why even when I tried not to. With my swing, I didn't re-route and come over the top, I stayed inside and often swing in to out through the ball by as much as 10-12 Degrees (Trackman measured) = pull-hooks and giant push/fades! Simply resisting the force of the clubhead dropping makes it so easy to keep the clubhead outside the hands, and leads to much straighter delivery into the ball. Thanks Danny!

As a new member of a golf club and a soon to be high handicapper, I've just commenced having golf lessons with an accredited teacher. Money well spent. Videos such as this add to what I am learning and reinforce the importance of getting the takeaway correct. How good is golf?! Keep up the good work. From the Land Downunder.

My biggest issue over the years has been my back swing. Your tips seem to be exactly what i needed to fully understand the take away. Funny thing is I do that that golf accessory, but always used it as a warm up tool only (haha), never thought it could be used as you did. Can't wait to give this a shot. Thanks. Your communication skills are very good and if you can't get people to understand what you are talking about, it doesn't matter how much you know, it won't transfer. Thank you.

Even implemented it with my irons and it's getting greater consistency. Amazing that such simple tips can make such a difference. Cheers mate

All this worked really well on the course today. Back on track! (5 hcp). The idea of "resisting gravity" (lifting club just a hair) made me feel the weight of the club and leading edge parallel to my spine (at the end of take away) I was able to feel the club head and have a very consistent strike. THANKS!!
