    Just find a reference point (grass) 2-4 inches behind the ball where you are intending your driver to bottom out. Look there and not at the ball. Slice will be gone and you’ll collect the ball on the way up. If you have a baby hook after just you drop your right foot back 1-2 inches it will work. Works for me! GL

    I took this concept to the range yesterday and hit 10 driver shots either dead straight or slightly off center. It occurred to me that if this works with the driver it should work with all the other clubs, so I tried multiple irons and hybrids. All dead straight. This is what Mo Norman used to do but he never explained why. From his videos all he ever said is that's how he always did it. But I found that I must focus on a point about 4 inches directly behind the ball, place my club there before take away and continue looking at the spot throughout the entire swing. I never looked at the ball after setup, the club just went there completely squared. Anxious to see if I can repeat this. But, and here's the kicker - I must keep my left arm straight and my wrists cocked (lag) all the way back and through the swing. Thanks for this tip Steve.

    Same exact idea, but the way I managed to really feel it, is to swing like I'm almost "pushing" the ball forward rather than actually hitting it sideways. It initially genuinely felt like I was swinging diagonally. I just had to keep my arms closer to my body, closing the face, and "push" my hands out as I released my upper body to keep it straight. This combined with a stronger grip eliminated a good 95% of that nasty, almost 90 degree angle slice I had. Now it's closer to a fade.
    For fairway woods, what helped the most was bringing the ball more in the middle of my stance, and making said stance a tiny bit narrower. I kept putting the ball almost as far forward as with the driver, which meant on release I was topping them.

    Hi Steve. Thx for the video! I always enjoy your content. I’m finding what you’re explaining a little hard to understand. As I understand it, slices are caused by the face being open to the club path. What I’ve learned is that we need to square the face soon after starting the downswing while rotating through the ball. I think that the feeling you’re suggesting we should go for will definitely lead to an early release by dumping all the speed we’ve built up in the backswing well behind the ball. That would square the face and reduce slices, but the ball would go nowhere. Maybe I’m missing something.
    I used to slice like crazy and I learned to lessen it greatly in part by moving the ball a little further back in my stance and coming more from the inside. I mentioned squaring the face in the downswing, but this should just happen naturally if the grip is right (neutral to slightly strong). As far as club path, by moving the ball back a little (about 1 ball more towards the center of the stance), you’re contacting the ball more towards the bottom of the swing arc. That, together with a face more square to the club path (assuming a square swing path), should produce a straighter ball flight. For me it’s a 5 yard fade on my best shots. I just think that the feeling you talk about might lead to more frustration if implemented incorrectly. I think that early release together with over the top downswing and coming out of our posture to square the face is the number one killer of amateur golfers’ swings and this might lead to making it worse. Again, maybe I’m missing something. Please let me know what you think. Thx!

    I’ve been playing for a year and I can never fix my slice.I watched tons of vids on fixing driver slices. They all have titles like this vid, like it’s gonna do wonders. I chanced upon this vid yesterday, felt that it wasn’t really well done as it didn’t show the flight of the ball and I was pretty skeptical. I just finish a session at the range and I tried what he did at 4:50. First shot, dead straight. 2nd shot was straight too. Hit about 20 shots in all. About 3-4 shots slice but nowhere as bad as before. A few draws. About half of them straight. Which is a massive improvement I would say. I wanna give credit due. Subscribed and liked.

  • @yardsaleuw3075
    @yardsaleuw3075 Před rokem

    I believe the center of my swing when both hands are on the club is my Belly Button. Where ever my belly button is at impact is where the club releases. Therefore with the Driver my belly button never passes the ball but is aimed at the back of the ball and the ball is in the middle of my stance. With my shoulders closed at impact I produce a Draw. With my shoulders Open at impact and my belly button aimed at the front of the ball I produce a Fade or wicked slice if I spin out to fast. Overpowering your swing and way too much turning is my opinion for the slice. Golfers are taught to twist way too much and out running the club, this is why topping and slicing are so common. With irons my belly button is always 12" infront of the ball at impact. I use to hit everything FAT and when I twisted faster I would go from Fat to Thin or Toping it. Everybody has an exact place at which release must occur every single time you swing and the only way to find that is to go back and forth between 3 iron and SW until you find that exact place. 20 balls in a row for both clubs without fat or thin shot and 20 3w and Driver without a slice was my drill. I would place a tee 12" in front of the ball for Irons and stop my stomach at that spot everytime. For Driver I move my right foot back and point my belly behind the ball and never even turn and just hit like i was swing a hammer and sometimes even snap the wrist to produce a massive hook. If you learn how to curve the ball extremly left or right your golf swing will develop itself and become more enjoyable when you get in trouble and need to curve the ball around trees or water.
