    Here’s why I like Eric‘s videos so much. My attention span can normally only handle the videos that are 5 to 10 minutes long. Eric‘s are always in the 12 to 17 minute range but there’s so much good information that it feels like it’s more in that 5 - 10 minute range. Informative, entertaining and stays on topic

    Wow! I saw Dennis for an in person lesson about a month ago. Imagine my surprise when he shows up on a Cogorno video! For the record he's the 4th coach I've ever seen and the FIRST one I actually feel really good about that actually knows his stuff. I've played some of my best rounds since directly after that lesson and set a few PRs.

    Made the change to bring the hands more in on the takeaway yesterday combined with the twist away method and had one of the best ball striking rounds in years. On video the club shallows out more on this hand path as well. Good stuff Eric.

    This was amazing. I was really disheartened after a range session where I couldn't connect. I watched this video and a clip of me at the range and saw that my takeaway was off. I spent half of my next range time doing the drill and was hitting pure again. Now when I stand up to the ball, my practice swing will always emphasises this and my swing is a lot more consistent. Thank you.

It is the only club swing thought that I have now. I love your channel, you have the best instruction on you tube. Thanks for all the help this year. Stay safe my friend!

    I would also recommend keeping the chest rotating back. If you do a good takeaway, you can still roll the club if you stop rotating the chest and have the arms keep going on their own. Keep the chest rotating back with the arms as long as possible. Discovering that today was the final piece of the puzzle for me. I had tried everything and even though I had the proper takeaway, I didn't rotate the chest enough so the club would roll when it hinged. I discovered this today from watching some PGA and realized what I was doing wrong. It's a major part of the backswing. The problem is, with the left hand on the club, it can appear that our left shoulder has crossed the front 90 degree line when it hasn't. I switched to thinking about where the center of the chest is pointing, and making sure it's pointed back behind me. By combining that thought with the back of the left hand and right palm pointing down at the ball as long as humanly possible, the proper hinge and club position at top of backswing happened on its own. I video'd myself and it was the best my backswing has ever looked. I like the pause ideas in this video, that's what I need to use at the range, or else the old bad rolling habit will come back. Great advice on the pause, pause, hit.

      @@CogornoGolf Thanks! Your videos have helped, I hope I can make this work. So far so good in practice without the ball there, but when I stand over the ball to actually hit, my hands want to roll and do it the old (and wrong) way. It will take a lot of slow rehearsal to get this right. I hope it works! Thanks for all the great videos Eric and team. Your other video helped too (elbow down, top of arm down, back of left hand down).

    Hi Eric. This video has made such a huge difference to my game. Despite being a very low handicap golfer, I have always had an inside take away which does cause me all sorts of problems. Now, the normal thought process is that if the club is going inside I need to get my hand path further outside, which actually makes the situation worse in my case. It seems counterintuitive to want to get the hands moving behind in order to fix an inside take away, but, it makes perfect sense when you see it and try it.......I also shared this video with some other guys who struggle and it was like a Eureka moment for them also! I still make inside take aways when my tempo gets quick but by and large the issue is fixed. Many thanks!

    I’ve been so obsessed with takeaway ! Literally my swing thought has been which takeaway will work this time ! This video clears up a big misconception of mine. I equated taking hands to inside to taking club inside ? If I understand this video, taking club inside or “inside takeaway” really refers to club head going inside….correct? My other confusing thought is maintain shaft lean with take away but I guess if you takeaway with shoulders and not hands that becomes a moot point. My obsession with takeaway is rooted in my feeling if I get this correct everything else should be a natural reaction.

  • @davee3951
    @davee3951 Před 2 lety +1

    Thanks for what probably is, the best takeaway tip on CZcams. What works for me, is imagining that my trailside thigh is larger than normal and my goal is to scrape it with the tee. I find that this move helps my pitching as well as fitting in well with my full swing practice. I'm not sure how well it will work, while actually playing, because thinking about what the hands are doing, makes the swing more complicated.

  • @stevemiller5467
    @stevemiller5467 Před 2 lety +2

    I found this drill actually helps on the shoulder tilt. Arms out on the takeaway seems to promote a flatter shoulder tilt. Close to the body seems to help the shoulder tilt. Just my feel.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 2 lety +1

      100% will.
      To keep on one plane you want the club basically right down your toe line in the takeaway when the shaft is first parallel to the ground.
      then butt of club pointing on the ball target line by left arm parallel in backswing

      you COULD yep
      If you want the clubhead more OUTSIDE your hands as your hands go in you would
      1. Reduce arm rotation
      2. Increase hinge

    I think it important to note the wrists must hinge up as the tee is touching the thigh, I tend to lack early wrist hinge and tend to have a below plane swing that then leads to a host of other issues ……even though I do a good job not letting my wrist roll….

      Hey Tommie!
      There is SOME of that vertical hinging going on from P1-P2 (during the the takeaway), but VERY LITTLE in a neutral, stock model. Of course, you'll see the rate of vertical hinge be different from player to player. If you search my name and "wrist hinge" here on CZcams, you'll find a bunch you may enjoy checking out!
      Hope this helps!

    What are your thoughts on the single plane swing? I don't use it, but my hands are definitely further away from my body at address that what I see in this video, so it's hard to use this drill. Is is truly necessary to have your arms hang basically straight down from the shoulder at address? I enjoy your videos and use them to try to improve my game. I'm not far from Dennis, so I may go take a lesson from him in person.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před 2 lety +1

      Dennis is great!
      The reality is there is essentially no "one plane swing" as that plane will be changing constantly BUT getting the LOOK of that is good.
      Most players I see that are good are on a slightly lower plane on the downswing than backswing so I like "Same plane" or slightly under in downswing

    It's very similar to having an alignment rod connected to the lead side of the club and the lead side of your body. But obviously you can't hit a ball like that.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před rokem

      Hey there!
      The arms, hands and club head would immediately start moving BACK, IN, and UP all at the same time as they move around the body. The wrists are hinging and the body is rotating continuously from the start of the swing. What you need to FEEL depends a bit on where you're coming from.
