Welcome to Mercia Marina, without a doubt the best Marina in the UK to moor your boat and live aboard your boat. We love life aboard our 57ft narrowboat but its about to change because we have bought a 70ft Aqualine Wide Beam boat.
In this vlog we take you around the marina and give you an update on what is going on in our lives at the moment.

Hi Darren hope you’re both well 👍 you asked for fishing advice? Try to set your hook (size 14) only 12-18 inches from your float and fish with red maggots. You’re bound to catch lots of fish this way especially silver bream perch and Rudd.. also try to choose slack water for perch. All the best matey. Tight lines!

OMG I’m so excited for you both, the wide beam is now so close I can taste it and can’t wait to see more of it, I so envy you your lives at the moment. Well we’ve downsized, just about to sell the motorhome and buy a caravan, I just 30 minutes ago put a deposit down on one. Our dream of going over there, buying a narrowboat and staying for 12 months really is now, just that, a dream, we’re being held captive here and I worry IF by some amazing miracle we managed to get to the UK if Covid hit badly again would we be able to come home, so many uncertainties. Looks like we continue to watch you guys and dream. Henri (husband) said, they’re likeable aren’t they,you two he means. Oh happy belated birthday Mrs B. Never say never is on e of our motto’s! I so hope one day Pauline we can have a brew and natter together, we would put the worlds to rights! Hi guys fingers crossed for you on the new boat. We have our name down for residential mooring at Mercia haven't even got our boat yet! We need air travel to get back to normal as we aim to be abroad in the winter so our plans are dependant on the covid situation. Your vlogs gives us inspiration and keeps us positive. So wierd having a walk around Mercia. Mate I randomly stopped in there on the way back from a bike trip round Scotland end of last year, just after you'd moved in. Had a cracking breakfast at the cafe with a lovely view.

We don't have sloes on this side of the pond, but we do have some interesting berries and fruit which make nice cordials. I have a bunch of damson plums and aronia berries soaking in vodka (with a bit of rum to take the edge off the aronia flavour. Another jar has Asian pears undergoing the same magical transformation.

ok i have something for you to try next time you have a Gin and Tonic...... put in some pomegranite seeds and mint leaves..... OMG it is devine.... well I think so .. you don;t have to put them together but they are both nice in a gin and tonic.. Go on try it...

Not far but thats ok Clare as we are full time live aboard floaters not boaters. Mrs B xx
Why do you have to move twice a year when in a mooring?
It has something to do with us being a residential moorer. It’s only one boat up on the pontoon and it’s rather nice to do. Mrs b xx
As a floater in a Mariner do you have to pay council taxes or are they included in your Mariner charges? Same question about private moorings.

Very interesting, how long does it take to walk from the Marina to the towpath ? Thinking this is a lovely area .

@@marianryan1072 Hi Marian, thank you so much for the lovely comments. Each boat mooring has a water point so when the boat runs low we just hook up the hose pipe. The marina also has the facilities for whatever type of toilet your boat has, so emptying the toilet isn’t an issue. The marina really is a lovely place to live with brilliant facilities. Mrs B xx
