These videos are very helpful. The goat skin on my Djembe has slipped off. Can I reuse it, or do I need to buy a new goat skin? Thanks!

Are flesh ring and retaining ring the same size?

Great video series. I’m just now replacing my skin on mine, I’ve found that it’s dried up and the bearing edge is not even . Should I use a rasp to grind it level?

If the edge is rough or bumpy, I would smooth is a bit with sandpaper or a rasp. If the edge has a gradual slope or dip, I would not worry about it. Good luck and happy drumming.

I would smooth out the bearing edge with a rasp of sand paper.

What kind of wood is the djembe drum? How can I get me a piece? I want to make my own! Thanks!

How much bigger than the drum is the ring

The ring should fit snugly to the drum with just enough room between the ring and the drum for the thickness of the skin.
