    Really pretty combination and nice sewing! ❤️ I like 809 or Craft Fuse in the card slots, too. Nice and sturdy. And I like the extra room from putting the snap up higher. 👍 This is my favorite wallet to make - I use Jessica Cruzan's simplified version except that I always put in two zipper pockets and I curve the front of the flap. I made the first couple of dozen on a 1947 Singer 15-91 and sewing those final side pieces was mur. Der. 😄 I bought an industrial and a hand press and those changed *everything.* Thank you so much for all the hours of videos, you young women are keeping me company. 😊

    I Have just watched your very interesting video. Having made a couple myself, even now I have picked up some wonderful tips, which I will incorporate in my next wallet., however one tip I have which you may find useful is ,when you are measuring to insert the magnetic fastener, use the bottom of the fastener (the one with the holes in), rather than the piece with the prongs. Lay this piece down flat on your fabric and mark through the two little slits, and then make your cut. I think this is much easier than trying to make a mark with the prongs. Thank you for the tutorial. I am in the UK , and will be watching for further tutorials from you.

    Another great video. I like that you are relaxed and not afraid to show your thought process. You have just the right amount of talking to showing. I also like that you are not afraid to do something different from what's in the pattern. In addition to getting a good handle on the pattern, I learned something in this video about positioning my left hand. Also, I love to watch your machine. It has such a nice sound and pinpoint accuracy! I don't know if you would consider trying the Apricate clutch (or if you're allowed). It has a zillion pieces . . .

    Beautiful wallet! I've always been afraid of this pattern simply because of the folds. I know I would never be able to fit those in my machine, but the rivets look much easier. Maybe I will purchase it now. You would think at 60 years old I would know how to do that, so thank you so much for demonstrating that on camera.

    You are so good at these tutorials! I've been looking at this pattern for ages but think that my domestic will hate it with all the layers in some parts. Do you think that if you cut the interfacing a touch smaller so it wasn't in the seams/edges of the card slots it would make attaching it under the 'wings' easier? And when attaching the zipper pocket at the end, do you think you could sew the rectangle onto the pocket while it is still separate and then attach it to the slots with a couple of rivets instead of sewing it all together? Also, what would be a good substitute for the Decovil that you use for the main flap?

    • @SiahSwag
      @SiahSwag  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey there! Yes if you keep the interfacing out of the seam allowances AND use cotton you can do this on a domestic for sure, I started that way. I am not sure about the zipper pocket part, give it a go! And I would substitute some kind of peltex in place of the decovil, again out of your seam allowances. 😃

    I really love the wallet. If I may suggest something. When you added the inner section and sewed it with white thread, it took so much from wallet. If you sewed the middle section together and put rivets to connect the outside piece. I personally think it would add so much to the wallet. You do beautiful work. I love to watch you channel.

    What is that tool you use, looks like a seam ripper but I think it’s a burning tool? I can see so many adaptations I could use inside the wallet to personalize. Thanks

    Wonderful video! What thread do you use with your industrial...it looks like a good topstitch thread. Also, if I can't find Decovil Light, is there something else I can use on the flap?

      Hello! I use a bonded poly or nylon thread usually weight Tex 69-70. I’m sure there is a Pellon equivalent to decovil but I’m not sure what it is...

    Is there a place I could request a step by step for a pattern? I absolutely love the look of the Mynta wallet by Hansedelli and would love a video ❤️ all of your videos have been really helpful 😉

    I like your way of stitching the wallet much better than the pattern method, but doesn’t starting the final topstitching on the zipper pocket partway down the side seam leave raw edges from there up to the zipper tab? It does on mine 🤷‍♀️ Or am I getting something wrong?

    Loved your tutorial. Made my first NCW yesterday. Made a second one today. However, I think the vinyl was a little bit thicker and the last step where you insert the card slots and sew the flaps down. My feed dogs chewed a little bit of the corner. Any advice??

      Yes my machine wants to eat my vinyl sometimes as well! I put a scrap piece of vinyl behind and and under it to get started on the edges and that seems to help.

    Love this! I'm going to attempt this wallet pattern soon! If you don't mind.... I'm thinking about getting an industrial machine... Which one do you have?
