When I was like 14 (I’m 20 now, several years ago) I was in Canberra (capital of Australia) with my Grandparents for a holiday and we went to the Glassworks there. A *master glass blower* was there creating a new piece with two apprentices or assistants or something and I was so damn fascinated. He approached us after he finished the piece and said that he had never seen anyone stay as long as I had. He was pleasantly surprised that I, a young teen at the time, stayed for the entire process and all I could say in return was “molten bubble art”
He laughed
I think I made his day
Also, even from the safety high up balcony we were watching from, my grandparents and I could *feel* the heat from the kilns
It's amazing💕😍I sincerely admire the work done, and watching how this product works, what it is made from, etc. I think this is a masterpiece❤❤❤

There used to be an ornamental glassworks not far from me. It's gone now, but they had a cafe with a huge glass partition, through which you could watch guys like this at work.
The skill was astonishing, and it made for seriously compulsive viewing. They had a huge range of the most stunning glassware for sale, and you could even 'book' a piece you were watching being made.
My wife still has an exquisite 12" tall reindeer that cost me a small fortune.
People are a lot more compelled to buy hand made stuff when they see its being made.

This is nothing as far as glass blowing goes. There are some ridiculous pieces. Look at dab rigs.
I’ve been blowing glass for a good 5 years (including Covid time). I’d say this is a relatively very easy piece to make. I could definitely do it on my first try. But holy shit there are some stuff out that that is utterly unbelievable

The fact that this doesn’t burn your fingers when you are soooooo close to heat on these projects is insane!
FR! it’s like molten lava or something!
mama!
*magma
@@adorableadory9645 you can just edit your comment-
It doesn’t burn his finger because the type of metal used for the rods they use for glass blowing typical doesn’t transport heat as far, and the tips of his fingers have also been exposed to heat enough that some of the nerves are weaker from the heat
What an amazing artistic medium. 🤩

@@JPdraws_ We've been smelting glass for centuries, it's nothing more complex than a furnace that heats sand and other materials to fusion point, while face timing not only accounts for the complex engineering for smartphones, but building entire databases and servers to make them happen. i couldn’t work here bc the overwhelming urge to touch or take a big bite out of it would be too strong
As someone who's been burned by glowing hot glass I can tell you one touch is gonna cure that urge forever. Unfathomably hot. Boiling oil is like luke warm water in comparison. Takes ages to heal too because of how deep and how quickly it burns you.
