    Anytime a fight is close do that and watch how you judge each round completely different with the sound off vs with the sound on and commentators in your year telling whats going on. Glad you tried it!!

    Very well said Roy Jones over Mayweather any day, at least Jones fought a lot while both was in his prime. Jones was one of the most feared boxers and when giving a chance he fought. There was no question Jones fought the top in his division, but there are fighters out there May still has not fought that are holding belts and at the top of the division. To many fighters he did not face that is why May is not the best of all times, never will be.

    @oomzie500 It is a matter of perspective, then: some will consider effectiveness as punches that land clean; some others, like myself, will define effectiveness as the ability to make the opponent fight at your pace, in your style. Both things happened in different moments during this fight, and Castillo landed more punches, and Floyd was forced to fight, something that you don't see often. Thanx for answering, have a good day.

    the difference between all the other fighters that floyd beat and pacman is that pacman always comes at you with combinations all the time........if any of the flurry of punches can land effectively is another question.. as we know floyd is very evasive. and he can also box!!

    Yea you pretty much named all of Floyd's fights that some people consider close. I only consider the first Castillo fight close. I scored the second Castillo fight 9-3 or 8-4. I had the Hoya fight 9-3. I had the Judah fight 9-3. I also had the Cotto fight 9-3.

    Well said..Floyd scored a knock down in Rd 2 but it was ruled a "Slip" How?.Mayweather landed a punch just before his foot stepped on Castillo,s foot.Ref made a mistake cos Castillo would have gone anyway with or without the foot stamp.Castillo should have been deducted more than one point cos he kept punching several times after the break..Good Fight over all..

  • @Antrizzle2009
    @Antrizzle2009 Před 13 lety

    Nobody talks about this but that Castillo did trip over his own legs after getting hit by Floyd, so technically they could have been called a knockdown in round 2.

    Castillo was 9 pounds heavier than floyd. That's why he tried to put his body weight on Floyd the whole entire fight. I have round 1, 2, 3, and 4 for Mayweather so far. The crowd is cheering every time castillo throws a combination. Don't let that fool you.

  • @Phoenix_KDE

    @TheMechanizim yea but a round is scored on EFFECTIVE aggression defense and punching...castillo was aggressive in round 3 but what did he land? floyd was landing the punches...he had good defense so thats 2 out of the 3 castillo was only aggressive so that means they fucked up giving castillo the 3rd rounds it was like floyd vs chavez when in round 1 floyd landed 25/50+ and chavez landed 5/90+ but they gave chavez the round

    the number 2 guy was a natural super featherweight who never fought so much as junior welterweight,let alone the welterweight level he did fight at.Rank wise,mosely would be the best choice since he is considered the number 1 welterweight by many people but he's not the big name that mayweather likes to fight.

    Yes I notice he runs more now, before he was a lot active, but I feel fighters that really have a chance with him he doubts himself a bit. Yeah a few, including Judah, Corley and Mitchell. Against Judah especially he took a few rounds to figure him out (and then went on to dominate) and Zab was able to land some decent shots. I think Manny has a chance, but the smart money is on Mayweather.

    Larry Merchant is a sportswriter and a commentator. Most people thought Castillo won. The entire crowd was booing the decision. Jim Lampley said "I dont know what fight the judges were watching"..that says a lot. If a fight is close, and he doesnt agree, he doesnt say that kind of thing. He only says it if its a travesty WHICH IT WAS!

    @robinwu87 I would have no problem with what you're saying except when EVERYONE ELSE beats these same guys they get tons of credit. Judah-Cotto andKhan have these as theyre signature wins. Baldomir was a FOY candidate when they fought..- De La Hoya-this was win that REALLY made Manny a household name. Hatton- Pac got a ton of credit for beating this guy. Mosley-Floyd fought him off a big win, and was considered still one of the best in the world, Pac also got a lot credit for that win

    @TheDolfan2010 While I wouldn't say I am a true "fan" of Floyd, just not a fan of his pre-fight antics... I am a die-hard boxing fan, and truly appreciate his talent, and execution... I am looking at this objectively, most fans are not die-hards, and want heavy hitting action (look at the decline in boxing since Tyson)... Floyd is drawing interest, because he seems unbeatable (IMO, Castillo won this fight though)... once he is beaten, if he is... alot of his general interest is gone.

  • @SupremeGodSon

    hates them? I doubt that very much and you cant prove it. Larry Merchant lavishes Floyd with praise. He constantly speaks of how skilled he is and how he is winning the fight. Cotto vs Mayweather was close till about round 9 ( I still had Mayweather ahead by a round or two) but then Floyd took over! He clearly won that fight and Lampley had the same score!

  • @Marz916
    @Marz916 Před 11 lety

    Castillo is, and will always be the most offensively skilled fighter Mayweather has ever fought. Marquez may have been the most skilled overall, but not as offensively skilled as Castillo, while Marquez is more of a counter-punching boxer and a thinker, and he was unable to out-think and and out-speed Floyd.
    Castillo's offense is very similar to Julio Cesar Chavez in terms of mixing his punches up, patiently cutting distance, and using feints, and winning exchanges.

Also, all the HBO analysts felt Castillo won and the entire crowd was booing at the dubious decision!

    Round 3 to Floyd as well. Castillo is pressing unlike the 1st round but he's not landing. Floyd lands stiff jabs to head and particularly the stomach and the occasional right hand. In any cast not a lot of out put from either fighter and Floyd doesn't stay on the ropes long enough for Castillo to put together any real work.

    A fight can be close(meaning it was competitive every single round) but still be won clearly(meaning one of the fighters won more rounds), now if you say the fight was VERY close(meaning it could should have been a DRAW), and then say it was a clear win, then you are contradicting yourself. At this stage we can just guess how a Pac-May fight will play, to say one win surely win is just not right, knowing GREAT upsets have happened in Boxing, and this isn't even mismatch, it can go either way.

    there's no way we're talking about the same fight.Oscar De La Hoya wasn't nearly as drained as everyone made him out to be.I think it was his age more so than his weight that contributed to his loss.Plus the fact that he can beat good fighters,not great ones.ODLH with all his money and experience had to have had a nutritionist to make sure he lost the weight properly.He chose to fight manny.That he didn't prepare right isn't an excuse.And Floyd's timing was too good for marquez at any weight.

    personally i rate a clean shot higher than a hold and hit shot. I understand your point that castillo won because of his inside work but i didn't rate his inside work because he was going low too often and was holding too much. I have watched this fight a few times and the first few times i had floyd winning by a point or 2 then i rewatched, taking castillo's inside work into account and i had him winning, I've also scored it 114-114. All i'm saying is that it wasn't a clear win for either guy.

    Make no mistake about this... Mayweather needs that money more than Pacquiao (not that either is in desperate need)... Pacquiao is a far bigger name worldwide... Mayweather tried to run for political office, he'd get laughed at... Pac-Man is on a road to presidency in the Philippines... plus he is already transitioning into movies... I wouldn't be surprised if he is the 4th athlete to reach the Billion dollar mark (1st - Tiger; 2nd - LeBron; 3rd - De La Hoya).
