DartingPast Thank you!
DartingPast thank you
DartingPast Thanks he was dragging the whole thing out smh
A CDL is a CDL. That's all that matters. Get that.
Since I got my CDL permit last month this information was really helpful.
These truck drives just have nobody to talk to, getting to the point after 8 minutes.
If you live in Texas and are poor you can get your CDL free though the Texas Workforce Commission's Workforce Innovations and Opportunities Act (WIOA).
BigDish101 I have an appointment with them on the June 11th, 2018.
@@derriw2048 how did it go?
I'm going through the wioa program here in Illinois 👍
What about Toronto Canada ? Does anyone know where to get free AZ ?
What is a good cdl school that has a campus?
omg get to the point of the video THE TITLE no one clicked this video to hear u cry about dispatch and ur loads.
DartingPast i see your point... but I actually enjoyed that bit of insight.
😂
My company brings a guy in for a week to train people 1on 1. This may not be practical but it's been great for our drivers.
What company is this please may I ask?
The pay just never match up with all the works, responsibilities, and danger.
Joel Johnson It’s not like you have someone next to you smelling you 24/7 and plus the smell goes way after a few hours
God bless you brother
Lol, I got fleeced for $3,300 in 2004! One month of training from a 3rd party school. You learn the gauges and how to shift and up and down the highway. First time out on my own was from the midwest to BFE Pennsylvania and white knuckled the fuck where they sent me with a 53' trailer! Narrow roads in Quaker Oatville.
Going through a employer training is recommended. You get experience as you learn. You have a job afterwards. You are paid while doing so. You pay back the tuition, mainly by them deducting the pay out of your check.
Damn I realized half way that you’re driving though my hometown.. Grand Rapids MI
A new driver who attended a truck school has more credentials then a driver with no truck school, if i have to make a decision on a new driver I would go with the student who has attended truck school. Every industry has a bad side to it.
Truck schools don't teach you how to drive at all, only to pass a test. You know shit about driving a truck after school. The way I did was get a job on a farm hauling grain without a cdl. Learn how to drive for a year then go get Cdl's, then it will be a breeze. At that point you have experience and Cdl's and anybody will hire you.
Great channel
Bald head -- Welcome to the club. Keep the beard fresh.
i went to a small school in fresno. i had an excellent teacher. i passed all my tests at the dmv with flying colors. it cost me 2000 dollars but with what i learned i went to a company and did a drive test with no experience and passed the road test. they hired me on the spot.
Richard Estrada FUCK bulldogs
What school did you go to,Bro..I live in Fresno too ..Chestnut&tulare ave area
There is a HUGE problem with this info.
You have to stay with the company for a year and hope to god they dont let you go before you finish your payment for the school.
If you go to a carrier sponsored school and you get fired before you finish payment of the school payment, you will not get your school completion certificate,
and you still owe and have to pay back that carrier for the school process & time, Even after you are fired, they are going to get that money one way or another.
BTW - The carrier always holds on to this until the payment is completed for the school.
If you go through a normal CDL school in your hometown, and you take the road test in your home town as well, you dont need to stay with them for a year as you do with carrier sponsored schools
, and you get your certificate of completion right away from the school of your hometown, once you pass the DMV road test. Because the payment is already made.
Unlike carriers that will make you wait an entire year in order for them to hand you the certificate of completion of the school.
So basically if you have a normal job, save up your money and go through your hometown school and DMV. - You will have more freedom once you pass the DMV and you get the school certificate.
Many companies require drivers to show them the original document of the school completion certificate, or they will make you go through a school all over again until you can furnish the certificate.
Also for special families that are either low income or can obtain financial aid, they can get financial aid for trucking school, if the city agency see's that you are trying to better your life and be independant. They have extremely strict rules regarding financial aid for driving schools though, and in many cases you have to pay for half over a certain amount of time, but that depends on
your individual circumstances of that particular person and family and history they have on file with City, State and Federal records including but not limited to work history from Social Security Office..
You can also get a Educational Grant from the federal or State government, which will give you a grant for the school.
The trueth. I had to pay 85 for a physical and a drug screen and that's all.
😂. You don’t need a certificate, you need a CDL Drivers License.
@@chilloften By certificate they are referring to a certificate of completion from the accredited institution allowing you to even take the CDL skills test in the first place before obtaining the actual CDL license!
I got a prequal from werner in 2012 so I spent $2500 on the cheapest school I could find. when I graduated werner changed their mind. I guess I had too many speeding tickets.
I ended up driving for the ice company, I probably make twice as much as I would have at werner
I disagree. I went to Houston Community College trucking school and I learned everything their has to do about driving a truck. they taught me the basics. it wasn't til I was out driving on my own when I started to learn the game of trucking and I'm still learning. so the 6 Weeks of school I took was very helpful. So yes school did help and guide me.
I tried to tell my brother. I went to school and he got his CDLs on his own and I asked him since going to school is a bunch of sh*t why you ain't driving for a Big company. I went to school in 1994 is was a requirement for you to have some type of training before you got with a company.
@@biggdaddzilla There's pro's to going to school. It really boils down to money and how much it will cost you. If its free or fairly low cost sure.
That Grand Rapids time lapse was beautiful sounding. You put that music together yourself or what?
Never got a trainer small company just put me in and said DRIVE!! They did have driver that couldnt drive for shit be with me 2 days 😂
You need to be in broadcast journalism. You would be fantastic and make a ton of money. Try it.
If you can go to a CDL school I’d say do it! Yes you can pass all the tests on your own and rent a truck and take the DPS test but you will most likely fail the first few times and it takes a while before you can re take the test. I went to the school because I wanted to get used to the feel of the truck and they also taught us in standards so you wouldn’t have that restriction on your license. Yeah some of the instructors where just there for a check but some actually have a shit and you can also learn a lot from guys that’s been driving for a long time.
Other than using your GoPro for time-lapse do you keep it rolling as kinda like a dash cam in case you get into an accident?
I have been wanting to get my cdl, I currently drive armored trucks in Los Angeles, which sucks. we are grossly underpaid. there are a few places to get a cdl out here, I just need to get the money to do it and find a company to hire me.
wow thank you
What about just getting the booklet from your local dmv and just taking the written test then finding someone with a truck to show you the basics and allow you to use their truck or rent a truck and take drivers test. Less than $500.
For your edification... no matter how you got your CDL you're not free to shop around.... so don't get the big head... you're not a truck driver yet... you have to go with an over-the-road trainer before you can solo.... that means you have to stay with a self-insured carrier... other carriers require 2 years experience their insurance won't cover you!
Getting your CDL: Take the written test, get a physical, find someone with a truck to take the driving test. You just completed CDL school...
+situationmoney That's a great idea and everything but unfortunately no company will touch you unless you go to an accredited school with a certificate. Maybe a company is out there that would accept that but I seriously doubt it would be a company worth working for. I know many guys/gals (over a dozen) that have tried the method you stated and they couldn't get hired without going back through a credited school.
This works fine if your a farmer and plan to work for the family business. Otherwise it is difficult to accomplish due to insurance requirements.
As the other guys said, TOTAL nonsense as you would NEVER be able to work in the industry.
It's hard enough when you graduate from a REAL school, much less a shit or no school.
+DemocracyDoctor1 wrong, that's what the big companies would like you to believe but you apply to smaller companies and one will give you a shot and you by pass that 15cpm bullshit those big companies put people through.
+Timothy Gagliardi Please give us a list of these "small companies" that will hire you W/O graduating from an accredited school?
I plan on going to truck driving school. I plan on getting a grant through Michigan works. Free money to go to school.
Question Can You Get A CDL Just by going to your local DMV?
Bob S NOOO
@@HeyArnoldGotAFootballHead not true
You should change your name to Run Hard GET LAID!! HA HA. Safe travels
Need to ask if you just got your class c license and want to drive CDL right away what do you do?
How many hours do you drive per day ? Back in the old days I was told that truckers drove up to 16 hrs. I don't know how you guys could do it . I could barely drive from San Antonio tx to Corpus Christi .That's just a little over an 1 1/2 drive and it gets me tired.
ridiculous starts half way threw the video.
25.000 dollars a cdl would set you back here at private driving schools. but we also have state run schools that you can take if over 21 years old and are 19 weeks. but they are free.
kids can also start out in transportation school. after two years at 18 they go out as apptrentice drivers for another two years.
so the skill level when drivers go out to work are so high that often no need for driving with a trainer.
Stian well spill it. What's the name of these schools?
Over the Road is a waste of time you don't make enough money for all the time your gone, I own my own truck and I work in the Oilfield in West Texas and I'm home every night and right now I'm bringing home after fuel and insurance I bring home $3500-$5000 a week but you gotta be willing to run and bust ass but IMO it's worth it
What instumental was that playing in the background
Watching this vid I needed another pair of sunglasses j/k lmao
lmao. I was thinking same thing after saw the vid before saw this one.
It probably a good idea to go straight to the point in regards to the topic of the video presented.
Is there a company that will help you get your CDLs when you just got your drivers license
Glasses look heavy af!!
Andrew Davis 😆
Bro, how hard the truck school lessons about CdL? The thing that bother me the most is about mechanicals. I’m going to school in a couple of months
was this loop 202? or sr51?
It's a start so not a waste
how can i get a cdl. i live in NH. I drive a van for a living now.
Same thing applies to electrical apprenticeships
cool
i live in allen park i started studying for my CDL what school would you suggest? i was thinking trainco only cause its like 10 minutes away but would love your advise.
+Brian Wafflee maybe i should of watched the entire video before asking my question.
This should have been uploaded in 2 separate videos. 8 minutes of BS in one and the school advice in another.
masterjbrown 😂😂😂😩
LOL !
8:15. I got my license. Through. The virginia unemployment. . they paid the full amount . there was no way. I was going to pay 5gs for a cdl . sometimes they charge 3k. . but I would not pay out of pocket. Is ridiculous .
12:30 in and you tell what not to do. Can you be more efficient with your and our time?
Hey buddy, all I need to do is take my skills test.Im in ohio do you know anyone that has a class a truck I can use? Just askin, tryin to save some money! Thanks
Quick tip to viewers to save their time: The guy really remembers the subject after 10.00 and has generally said what has to be said by 14.00
Not all CDL schools are bad. Depends on the school, the instructors, the instruction material or the equipment. Do your research. Go visit the school.
I wish I wouldn't of wasted what I did on road master myself
Jay Da Trucker what's the deal with roadmaster?
10Digit they charge too damn much $6-10k when all you have todo is go to a training swift/prime knight ect,ect company do a year and its free
Money mike Slick will yeah, I know, I was planning on going to that school, what school do you suggest that I look into?
10Digit man go to trucker path look at all the company schools look at the least min contract required go with them i suggest prime
Money mike Slick will for sure. I appreciate that
difference between Cdl school and company sponsored cdl school. Going 3rd party you can go to any company you want that takes graduates and can move on to a better company at 6 months. Company Sponsored: gotta commit to that company for 1 year for paying for your school
+Anthony Tillman Yep, that seems to be the way to go. I'm goin to SAGE for my schooling. Far as I can find they're the best ones out there. I can't find any negative reviews about them so far. It also means I don't have to go off to some other state for a month and live in a hotel, and then wait a couple weeks after school for my license to transfer back to my state.
soon you won't be able to be "sponsored" by another truck driver anymore to get your license, a new law is going to be in effect soon that requires that anyone who wants to get a CDL must take an accredited course in trucking
Wish I had looked down at the comments first. I just sat through 8 minutes of George Costanza's ramblings. Actually, I skipped ahead until I heard pertinent words.
where be that Ean Hannah boi at anyways Abe? Halla back now...C-ya! ;)
A little ebonics thrown in the mix!
CDL school grants are everywhere... there is no need to pay anything if you can do some paperwork. The real question is does it equal more money starting out???? And does signing with one of the starting CDL company programs screw you to lower pay and or a bad company?
If you go to a Tech college, for about 2K you get the training and the test.
Biggest mistake you could ever make is walking into anything thinking you know it all.
Do they teach you how to drive even tho you don't know how to drive manual ?
I've instructed a lot of years and gotten hundreds of students their CDL. And to answer your question it's easier to teach somebody that does not know how to drive a manual than it is to teach someone that does. They don't have bad habits already
My state requires a 3 Months corse. I have school on top of that plus I have to run my trucking business. Getting a CDL shouldn’t be so complicated is not like everyone is applying for this jobs.
You get what you pay for bud
Roadmaster's took me in then kicked me out when I couldn't find a co signer.
Chris t , us xpress, prime, Schneider, crst?
Chris t wow
Shit. Just signed up with them. I go on Sept 10. Two weeks. I'm looking into a local school. College class. Maybe I can still cancel roadmasters
Abe please break up your videos properly so that we don't have to wait 8 minutes for the actual video title description. You start talking about CDL at about 8:09. Keep it up brother.
I got a grant to go to cdl school for free. I will take it. You will only know enough to pass the cdl a test. You don't even learn how to drop and rehook the trailer in school. This way I get to pick the company I work for even tho ill still have to ride with a trainer. The fee at this particular school is 3000 or 3500 w/ hotel. I would not pay to go to a school.
Abe do more swearing in your videos please!!!!!!
Look majority of these companies won’t take you without experience and a lot of them are starting to require a minimum of 2 yrs OTR just pay and go thru the school
Da Chop Up very true
Da Chop Up so i guess the truckdriver shortage story is bullshit.
i work for Amazon and they have a program where the pay for 95% of schools and they paied for my CDL i only paid $250 for the school $25 for my physical and $25 for the dmv now i have my class A
more info?
Martay Beatty more info on what? the cdl class or the Amazon paying for class?
+Josue Guzman both
Martay Beatty when you work at amazon (not the temp agency) after 1 continuous year they pay 95% of tuition of any trade school and other programs, in my building they have a classroom where they bring teachers in and train us on the program, for the cdl its easy, the hard part was the off set backing, but most of it is easy, like driving a bigger car, my program was 8 weeks, 4 weeks class time 4 weeks on the range
Josue Guzman are you local then?
Who are you working for now?
Jennifer Mcfadden I work for a mail contractor as a truck mechanic now.
what do you think about England cdl program? Is it legite?
+El Pokool you get very little drive time there (i only got a couple of hours), if you get your cdl from them and dont complete your 9 months (6 for veterans) you owe them 7500.
+BEACHHUNNY64 what would you recommend?
Blue Jesus who is the best to join in which I can get my cdl and stay with them for a year and just pay them back like that without owing all that money?? recruiter info or contacts would be appreciated m,,thanks
who you drive for
Want some cheese with that whine?
7 minutes into the video and not a word about why not to pay for school.
What if I told all of you that all of the instructors at my school laugh at his videos and think he's a complete whiner?
louisdiaz316 we laugh back at em for being CDL school instructors making maybe 40k a year lmao
RunHard GetPaid Yeah, no. My instructor made 220K last year. Thank you.
RunHard GetPaid Or retired with nearly a million in their savings.
louisdiaz316 unless he owned the cdl school, he's full of shit. But you're a know nothing cdl trainee, you'll believe anything lol
RunHard GetPaid Don't forget you were a trainee at one point Mr. Cry Hard & Get Tissues.
Dude we gotta learn to drive a truck before we take the driving portion of the DMV cdl test right. YOu dont get the cdl license thru the school right
ulk
Had to abandon
Sorry,. I have watched quit a bit of your videos. This is my last. I believe no matter what industry you would be in, that you would have a lot of issues due to your negative attitude. Good luck man.
I disagree. My school helped me out tremendously!! If you go to a company sponsored program, you will be locked with that company until they recoup their money from you.
I wanted to drive a truck so bad,but all the comments are negative,i I'll just keep selling drugs!
libtard sniper88 haha but look man fuck the comments if you wanna change ya life get on a truck look up Trucker Brown he is real talk
Yes some clds school due just want your money but that why you stay away from 3rd party schools. I'm going to a big school with a 6 mouth program. It's a 11k class I got a grant for 5k then when I leave I'll get hired with a company that pays tuition reimbursement 150 bucks a month up to 6k. That's my class A license with doubles, triples, and tanker indorsement payed off. Just do some research before picking a school. Talk to some people
It depends on how many hours of training your promise like my program I'll leave with around 480 hours
which school? Presently going to NTTS, in Liverpool, NY 18 week, 602 clock hour.
I'm going to All state career school, 6 month program about 11 grand, it's an credited school. It's in Pittsburgh
Boney Grave I looked in to going to all state to get my CDL when I got laid off from my job. I was actually enrolled in Rosedale tech's truck driving program and the week before I was supposed to start school my job called me back to work so I never went.
GEEZUS 11K TO LEARN TO DRIVE A TRUCK!?!?
A CDL is just a license to drive. Trucking is a horrible industry. You'll get shit on in every way imaginable, you'll get paid poverty wages.
You're cute.
Is he still talking? Why?
what the hell bald. realy
I didn't know trucking was a fashion show.
Any truckers in here? Question have you ever heard of this? I had a friend drove a semi and he would leave his seat going lets say 70 mph and go get shit out his mini ridge and stuff like that. Leaving the truck going down the road with no one at the wheel or even at the seat!!! Has anyone ever heard of someone doing something so crazy? Cant be normal
Run hard? What a joke.. Run hard to the nearest yard, your fired. from what i see, your allways getting fired. Whats up with that? run hard.
Man fuck that its always a negative review why you still doing it then don't let these people discourage you
sorry but from the way you talk to people that disagree with you doesn't help your case. its no wounder you have such a problem with CDL schools. my dad has been driving trucks for over 30 yrs and says these "problems" are totally BS. working for a year under contract after CDL school is nothing. once that year is up go work for someone else hiring asap with 15k bonus
SIGH this video teaches you patience, the whole point of the video starts halfway through stick to the point man.
What was the point to this video. No point at all oh my God he just went on and cried about loads and dispatches . Finally got to the point about 8 minutes in but even then really never made the point of the video. Just a waist of time but even though be safe out there.
CDL School is a joke!
The one I went to and quit was crap! they let you drive around a gravel pit with a trailer and bob tailing about all they taught was changing gears and double clutching!! They did teach air brakes in 2 classes and how to adjust them but that was it no backing trailers or chaining tires, Basically if you could change gears and lanes on the highway you passed!! $11 000 to basically to learn how to clear the trailer on turns. 2 grads from that school found a diving job that did not last 2 months..they were both fired for not being able to handle the truck! and they were CDL graduates!!
The entire course was 11 000 including our fuel . they gave us a log book and most or us had no idea what the fuck to do with it I had a person about to graduate ask me how to fill it out I had the book but had to say fucked if I know! Know when they learnt the way to use the logbook was with the company that hired them, after they were taken out of service by The Department of Highways who fined the company!
I never did this but they did not even have a book for the course, they drove for 4 hours a day for 2 weeks and put on public highways in traffic for the road test
I did heavy equipment on a front end loader, a excavator, and a bulldozer and learnt a lot more than CDL Instructors taught us about trucks
Dennis Austin LOL DAMN!
Damn that’s crazy lmao. I did a 6 week course, paid for by a Virginia work force grant, learned to offset back, straight line, 90 degree back, and 45 degree back, as well as accumulating 300 miles of driving time. We learned double clutch method. Passed DMV with flying colors, got my CDL. While we were there, we could see Swift and some other CDL school bring people to fail while my school had a 98% success rate. SVCC in Virginia.
Dennis Austin I am good with my paid CDL I am my own free man and I was able to dictate my own adventure in trucking and what a ride it was for 14 months now I’m in the gas and oil industry
Holy crap WTF!!!!! Get to the point. Short?????? Really. What about the don’t waste your time????? Finally. OMG. Half way through the effing video.
Way too long...
.
Negative energy on every video
I think home for you is LIVING with your mommy big MOUTH
thanks for the laugh of you being the most handsomest trucker, BS. knowlageabe, in your mind. sence you are bad mouthing the trucking industry, you should get out of it, or shut up about it.I don't think that you have never been in the Military, so you don't know what it is like. each and every trucking company is what you make of it.
Terry Tackett how do you make the best of it ?
