I don’t think it’s realistic at all, the man is a perfect teacher and manages to rehabilitate a street prostitute cause he felt like it. It shows the ugly sides of society under an extremely romanticising light.

Since I lost my wife last year leaving me and my 3 children ages 6-8 behind I have the same stare he has. And I listen to his monologue as I try to make sense of everything. Just like the house of Usher is my state of mind. The only thing that takes me out of it is my boys. They give me purpose to continue. They keep me sane.
I think this represents what will become of classrooms in America, if our government doesn't start supporting our educational system, if discipline isn't enforced in the schools, and teachers aren't provided support, a safe environment, and proper compensation.
The government doesn't support public schools on purpose in order to get children into expensive private schools. America is just a really big bussiness

Charter schools, which are a direct creation of neoliberalism, has been a result of private industry attempting to subjugate education with the intend of turning it not into a public utility, but into a private business venture beholden to the market. If you want to blame someone? Blame the source. Blame business. They are the ones the government actually answers to.

Wrong, he was always attached. But he always has known that love for teaching and human beings would be his undoing. Thus, he fight it back with forced detachment.
The shot that gets me here is the girl’s empty chair behind the kid who called her names and verbally bullied her in class. His head in his hand. I don’t know how you ever get over your role in that suicide. It’s so easy to still be dumb at that age, to lash out at someone weaker than you are cause then you’re not the target. And he did throughout the film, til she stopped it by ending her life. I can’t imagine ever getting over having done that, having played a part in that. That’s the kid of thing that can end your life right there. 😢
That's wasn't the sole reason to why she ended her life. It was how her father spoke of her interests, of her, of her appearance, things she loved. It all starts at home, home is our first base. I'm not denying role of that kid who bullied and lashed out at her. He was definitely wrong but, if she had high self esteem, good support system she would never have let his comments get to him or anybody's comments for that matter.
when i was in 3-6 class of school i had been feeling fear and humiliate from classmates and other classes, but nothing like 'weight'. what kind of emotion it describes?
Weight is sort of a loose, open to-interpretation word. It is sort of an amalgamation of the things you mentioned. Fear, humiliation, the feeling of being judged, etc.
