- Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We start off by playing a game of ‘Ditch it or Fix it’: Relationship Habits Edition.
Our first caller is attending an expensive bachelorette party, and the bride is bragging that she doesn't have to pay for anything. Our caller no longer wants to go, but doesnt want to anger the bride and let the financial burden fall on the others. Our second caller hates her old job, but feels like her husband is not supportive of a career shift. She has a school and profession in mind, but his past marriage has made money a trigger for him… thus he’s resistant to helping her pay for it. Our final caller’s friend is having relationships with random men, with the specific intention to have a child. These men are unaware of that, and our caller wants to confront her with disapproval, but not come off as judgmental.

The last caller is sounding entitled, sarcastic, and not really calling because she worries about her “friend.” She just wants to gossip about her friend and judge her in a negative way. Lame.
The last caller sounds WILD......... how many times can you repeat "I have the right to say something because she loves my relationship". She needs to seek counseling on why she thinks she's on this moral highground.
Literally never could be friends with the last caller-in. She sounds pious AF and this comes from an already somewhat pious person 😅

The last caller seems unstable. Her “concern” over her friend seems odd. She was all over the place and seemed overly involved in her friend’s life.
That bride sounds awful. I’m getting married in August and I decided to not have a wedding party as to not put people out. It’s one thing to go out for dinner and drinks and them buy you a few drinks or whatever but to expect a whole trip to be paid for by your wedding party is outrageous! They’re already spending so much money on dresses, shoes, hair, makeup etc. Presentation. Like calm down girl!
Re the last caller: I mentor young women from underprivileged backgrounds and the first thing I learned is that you can give your advice but you cannot force someone to take it. And you have to be ok with it. The caller was on this high horse of I have a wonderful relationship and she has to act like me to get the same thing. The caller sounds like an awful friend to be honest. And did she say at the beginning that she’s sleeping with strangers but later said she talks to these men for months??? That doesn’t sound like a stranger.
The last caller is so annoying. I could never be friends with someone like that she sounds so judgmental
But her friend is trying to entrap men to have their baby.. so whose being more harmful?

Last caller whoa! Girl speak to your therapist about this. I think there’s things you need to address within you before you can judge or even focus on your friend’s issues. Wish you both well
The second caller called her husband both high maintenance and a prima-donna, and her daughter "special". She's very unhappy but I don't think it's just with her job. She sounds really difficult. I would suggest looking for a job that allows her to use her current degree, or a hobby that allows her to pursue her dreams, and to use the free time that would otherwise be spent studying/school on working on her marriage.
Nick’s advice for the second caller (wants to go back to school for interior design) is SO SPOT ON. I hope she listens.

The way Nick goes from relaxed to leg shaking all over the place while talking to the last caller. It’s probably killing him while talking to her and not being able to just tell her the harsh truth.
Caller 2 and caller 3 were both extremely delusional lol I feel like Nick could have been even harder on them
I have some thoughts for caller 2. I am in interior design. It is NOT an easy or lesser stress job at all. She also DOES NOT need to go to school, especially a trade school, for staging. I went to a 4 yesr university and have a bachelor of science in interior design. Its very elitist. No one will care if she has this 1 year program. No one. Its not enough time to develop actual design skills. 4 years didnt cover enough. What she needs to do is start staging furniture/accessories for family and friends and develop a portfolio of actual work. Watch some youtube videos from professionals in the staging game. There are also phenomenol trainings through linked in learning (just one example) on software, etc.. i feel VERY strongly she not do this program. I hope she sees this comment.
Also, make real estate connections. Speak at their monthly meetings. Hand out business cards.
Yes!!! When she said you had to have a degree I was so confused. (Me doing it without an interior design degree.) $15,000 would be thrown out. It's really all about who you know and working long ass hours barely getting paid to make your way up. I love what I do but it is extremely hard to get to a successful place.
Expecting your friends to pay for your holiday is insane!! If someone or the group offers to pay a part of it, great, but demanding 😳.
Just a thought for the second caller, sounds like she wants to be an Interior Decorator, rather than Interior Designer. Decorator would provide more affordable educational choices as well. Designer has a lot more architecture/math involved, along with study of human behaviors - followed by certification and licenses required AFTER school. Decorator sounds like it might be a better thing to try first, before fully committing to an interior design degree. Just sayin :) Good luck, girl!

The wedding caller…. it’s unreal how little communicating is being done, in BOTH directions. The bride is awful but everyone is at fault. You should’ve stated upfront that you had a hard budget and what it is. Instead of canceling on the bride, I would frame it as a set of options for her. Like this is my budget, I originally thought it would be OK because I was asked to contribute this much, but now it’s sounding like it’s going to be more like…, But in order to stay within my budget, these are the options and you can choose: either I don’t go but will still pay for the Airbnb so you guys can have fun, or I can go, but only pay… amount total. And I would make that a group thread so that everyone can pipe in about their own limitations as well.

Last caller sounds like a horrible friend, instead of being so concerned about what a 30 year old woman is doing worry about yourself because you don’t seem like you genuinely care…. More like you put yourself on this high pedestal (which by hearing this you shouldn’t) and expect her to be the same like who are you😂 how will you be as a mother?
I work in interior design without a degree. Granted I live in a big city. But it’s definitely the most stressful job I’ve had HA
I would be against my spouse trying to start a costly new career as an interior designer/decorator. In my neck of the woods, they are a dime a dozen and don’t have stable income unless they are renowned. And if we were not in a financial position to do so? Heck no! Maybe that is not the caller’s situation though.
But girl-saying the cost of necessary dental work is the same as the cost of the schooling for a new career? 🤨 That’s wild.
callers aside i do think that Nick needs to let them speak talking over doesn’t give us much of info i do think he’s a great listener and gives great feedback but just seems so disrespectful talking over them.

I can say i can relate to her or my best friend can. I wanted an elaborate bachelorette in Nashville but my maid of honor came to me and she simply could nto sfford it all. 12 people ended up spliting the house and we did 3 day trip and relaxed and play games it was fun! But im glad my friend came to me and told me to think of eveyone's budget cause she was stressed. She bought all the decorations and eveything

Nick acting shocked with the first call 😂 girls are crazy! I had a roommate that was mad at her sister for getting engaged when she herself wasn’t even dating anyone. Like what? She was insane. She was also the same way where she always projected her body image issues onto me and didn’t like being around me because she was the “fat” friend.

Just close the cabinet door ; what is the problem Nick... and that's not such a big adjustment ...considering one day you might get something like Parkinson's[impossible to deal w the progression downwards of the muscles not listening to the brain ] and really have to modify your lifestyle as your world closes around you
