  • An out of the box look at the new Vaughn V10 line and how it’s built and designed.
    I know it’s a long video guys, but I had a lot to say about this stuff and there’s definitely some new design changes, especially when it comes to the blocker and leg pads. Here are the time stamps if you want to jump to a specific part.
    Blocker: 3:30
    Glove: 11:23
    Leg Pads: 25:25
    *NOTE*
    Glove is apparently not 60° but actually 45° even though Vaughn’s website says 60°

    Great video! I just ordered my first custom set, V10’s through Wack. My only somewhat concern is the cord stitching in the Quickslide area. I know it’s recessed, but seemed to be cleaner on the V9 stock pads I have currently. FYI I ordered almost the same set up, soft upper and boot, with thigh strap.

    This isn't a 60 degree break. 60 Degree is only offered in the XP glove, but you can also do the 70 Degree.

      Your website/catalogue has it as a 60° 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I appreciate the detail of your reviews. I have my eye on a used set of V9s to try and get some modern pad upgrades to maybe help my aging game and aging hip issue. I’m currently in custom Battram pads with feel very much like my old V5s did. Using that as a reference, do you think the v9s offer some advancements that will help? Or is it a side step and Vaughn has stayed close to the same all these years. My age and my hip make it hard to justify ordering new custom for the price and the wait plus I keep hearing the v10s are too stiff. My other thoughts were 2nd price tier, off the shelf, eflex or true.

      @L7spider  Před 11 měsíci +1

      If you can get your hands on some V9’s that have the custom soft build, I think that would be exactly what you’re looking for as far as something modern yet still has a classic feel. Seems like you’re talking about just going with stock pads though, and I think you might find even the stock V9 too stiff. I feel like you would be running into the same problem with CCM and True. Unfortunately anything stock currently is pretty stiff.

      @@L7spider thanks for the input. That’s another reason I was looking at used custom v9’s. But like you said, I’ll probably have to get very lucky to find my size and those specs.

    Upgrading from my V2’s soon and was thinking of going with Hyperlites. Really interested to hear your thoughts on the V10’s. I love Vaughn pads but can get Bauer discount so….. Thanks again

      My last couple sets have been custom Vaughn pads I will always love Vaughn. My last set I was lucky enough to have a friend hook me up with a free set of hyperlites and I love them I probably wouldnt have tried them if I had to pay honestly.

      Yes! It definitely slides better than regular Jen pro. I would say it slides the best out of any of the specific “sliding materials” currently out there.

      @@slimybread4259 well anything that slides better than you’re currently used to, will cause some overslide at first, but then you adjust. At this point, I would not order a Vaughn pad without it.

    I hear you about Vaughn. I generally love the feel of their gear, but so many of the changes over the years to the pads don't make sense to me. The air mesh is terrible. It wears so poorly and feels cheap. The velcro from the straps tears it up. They had the best professor strap in the industry with the magnetic closer. Now that's gone. The pads are way way too stiff now. I couldn't go with the v9's because of the split in the knee wing - what a terrible idea. No idea why they thought that was good to do. And the graphics keep getting worse. I don't get it.

    Nice video! About the catcher, in another video, I saw that the V10 XP glove now comes in more than just two angles (60 and 70): it also comes with a 50-degree and a 55-degree breaks. Check out this video at 8:25: czcams.com/video/NtU65gxQBGE/video.html I wonder what those respective breaks correspond to in previous Vaughn catchers.

    • @L7spider
      @L7spider  Před rokem

      Yes, I saw that video. It’s unclear whether Vaughn is offering those other angles currently or if it’s something they will offer in the future. Either way, it just further goes to show Vaughn’s poor communication as far as what’s available and what they offer.
