I have that exact glove. It was extremely stiff so I sent it to the goalie glove guy to get it broken in and added a skate lace pocket and floating tee and I absolutely love it.
Thanks for this. Even Bauer doesnt do a good job explaining the differences between these 2. Do you think the sizing is based mostly on arm length or does torso/chest section change with every size as well? Just wondering bc ive got a beer league belly but fairly short arms lol. Also, do you think an already big goalie might be TOO big in the Mach, like a lacrosse goalie, or have more trouble fitting into jerseys?
@@BeerLeagueGoalieGodfather both arms and torso change between sizes. Some people opt to go custom and get different size body and arms i.e. Large body/medium arms. If you’re stuck with stock sizing, I’d go more off torso since the arms can be adjusted somewhat. As far as it fitting in a jersey, I wouldn’t worry about it. The overall mass of the unit isn’t really bigger than others, it’s the shape of it and how it’s constructed that gives it more of a squared off boxy shape.
@@L7spider thanks so much for the quick reply!
Hi friend. I need your opinion. Between Vaughn Ventus SLR3 Pro and Bauer Vapor HYP2RLITE. Which one is better for you. And if possible, the pros and cons of both chests! I am also an amateur, from the beer league, where there are many schoolchildren and former professionals, coaches and referees. Slim build, I play for release and style just like you have a bro hybrid 💪
@@maytherealwaysbepeace first, are we talking about the SLR 3 Pro or the Pro Carbon. Because the Pro is a lower level unit. The Pro Carbon is what would compete with the Hyperlite 2. I did a video on the SLR 3 Pro Carbon if you want to watch that to get my opinion on it. For me, the choice is easily the Bauer Hyperlite 2. Awesome mobility and protection.
Yes, I meant the carbon version. and yes, I watched your video and understood everything. Thank you! I will continue to follow your CZcams : robot goalkeeper ✌️😉 I'm also leaning towards Bauer Hyperlite 2🙏
Any issues with protection behind the breast plate / below the arm pit. It seems like a puck could find it way through as the breast plate is so narrow. I’m coming from an SLR2 where the breast plates are huge hinder my movement. I’m stuck between the shadow and this.
@@gv4156 no issues for me.

How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I am 5 foot 11 in. looking to switch from 34 +2 CCM Eflex 3 pads. I like the higher thigh rise, so I am considering going with the Large (35+1) for when I switch to the Hyperlite pad. However I have never used a modern pad that sits higher up on the skate, so I wonder if the Medium (34 +1) would maybe still be best. I understand you can't give me a definite answer, any of your input from your experiences would be greatly appreciated! Great video too btw.
I’m 5’11, but you shouldn’t go by overall height. ATK (ankle to knee) measurement is the best way to figure out your size. I’m a 17.5 ATK.
@@L7spider Thank you, definitely gonna measure my my ATK!
I am 5'11", weigh 185 and am looking at a Mach. Would I got with a Medium or large? I'm concerned that the Hpyerlite 2 won't fit in any of my jerseys. I am a non-tucker. (I currently use a Reebok 9k, Medium)
You could use either. It would be more a personal choice. I prefer medium in Mach (5’11 170) and large in Hyperlite 2. I also don’t tuck. Not sure why you think the Hyperlite 2 would be an issue for your jerseys, but the Mach is the bulkier of the two units.
@@L7spider thank you!!
Question: have you found that you need to hold your hand different depending on the gloves? I used 580 and 590 koho, rbk, ccm (Lefevre) growing up and Ive been struggling to catch with the vaughn (45?).
You do have to hold it differently depending on where you want the pocket positioned. For me it’s mainly just the feel of my hand in the glove though. A 590 (60°) is the only thing that feels natural to me.
Thanks for getting back so quick!, I'll keep trying it... I have a hunter shepard set that I don't want to break up.... I'm at the age where I just want to look good for pickup and beer league subbing lol Yes very weird glove, and I had no idea what the angle was. Thanks for the video!
How much force do uou need to apply to thr V10s to get them to bend kn thr soft top? I currently habe 7 year old V7s would thr V10 soft still be notocably stiffer than a new set of V7s?
If you get the soft build V10’s, they bend pretty easily. Not much force needed. As far as how it compares to V7’s, it’s been so long since I’ve had V7’s that it’s hard for me to say. It’s definitely in the same ballpark.
Very practical advice. I deal with so many of these types of questions like this when it comes to new baseball gloves. My answer is generally the same. If what you are using has been performing at a high level, the next new technological advance may not do anything but empty your wallet. I rock 1S's which have been punched such that I am comfy in there barefoot. I did try on the Konekts [unmolded] with my pads on, but was unsure what advantage i was gaining. They did fee quite good as I am wider foot. I am debating on whether to get them as my next pair, but the only 'if it aint broke, don't fix it comes to mind." The good thing is that I can rechassis my 1s for roller so its not a total waste.
Is there anything you do like about them besides the tie system? And if not, why do you keep buying them?
As I say in the video, this specific set belonged to my friend and he let me try it. So there was no money involved from me. If you watch my Catalyst 9x3 review, you will see more I like about it. With the catalyst pads it was a matter of the sliding material that comes on their stock pad that really ruined the experience for me. I keep trying True because I feel like they are so close to making something I might really like, so it makes me curious to try their new products.
Бобровский💪
I am in an older large Bauer Elite. You mentioned sizing down potentially and that your friend did go down to a medium. You mentioned he’s a little shorter, but not either of your heights. I’m 5’10 and seems like I am in between sizes. I know this video was a while ago but any advice on sizing?
I would go with a medium for you.
@@L7spider thanks.
How long was the wait time?

@@L7spider nice, 5 more weeks left for mine then 😭, trying out the two piece blocker

Are the True's double break? I currently own both sets myself. Vaughns are brand new still and unused. True's are amazing pieces of equipment.
Single break
I agree 100% regarding the depth of the DECOi mask and the X mask versus the Bauer mask!!! I have a Bauer 960 Pro and the back of the helmet exposes gaps, plus the Innegra material is top notch!!! My condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Dad!!!
I need the soft builds or dbl breaks. I can’t get my hip to rotate enough to get a 5-hole seal on any straight, stiff pad. No matter how tall the rise. 😢
Is the hyperlite 2 as big as mach chesty! I cant decide between those 2
I don’t know about bigger per say, but I’d say the Mach is a little more squared off in the shoulders while the HL2 is a little more form fitting. I’d say the Mach presents bigger, at least.
Hey buddy. What size were you wearing and how tall are you? Thank you!
Size large and I’m 5’11.
Thank you! Do you feel a size medium could have helped with combating the bulkiness? I’m 5,11 as well and tried on the small and actually liked it but felt I could go larger just didn’t want to make the huge jump to large.
@@pierrehenripauillac7506 I don’t think so. I had worn large in previous SLR units and also the bulkiness didn’t feel like a size issue, just a padding issue. I am very much a mobility first type guy so I am very sensitive to things being bulky. Others may love the unit or feel they need the extra bulk. 🤷🏼♂️
Oh ok yeah makes sense. Appreciate all the help. Keep up the great videos!
Bro… cut that f’n elastic off the damn blocker. I mod all my gear I would cut the strap and the cuff off if I need to. I guarantee in all the years you have played you have never been hit in the cuff of any blocker let alone this one
LOL, I was really on the verge of it, I got it to stretch out enough eventually. It’s a dumb design though imo.
Um…husband…get out of my account if you’re gonna comment on these hockey videos. I don’t need these dudes thinking I know anything about hockey, or blockers, or “modding my gear.” ❤️, your non-hockey playing wife.
@@ChristinaJoyEmpowered 😂😂😂
Ok so I didn’t realize it was my wife’s account, sorry! I cut the whole back padding and wrist strap off of a Vaughn catch glove because I couldn’t really flare it “fingers up” and the wrist mobility was amazing after. They always over do the protection in some areas for the “just in case” shot you might never see. In the unlikely event you do get hit there… put some ice on that shit and call it a save brother!! 🤣
Dumb idea, why not add single kevlar high tensile strings across the open areas? You can get 200-300 lb string that would stop sticks and blades, not intended to stop a puck though.
Another great review Louis. I love my True 12.2 but considering trying a set of these.
Any stingers?
Nope. Protection has been great!
I’ll stretch your elastic out… ❤
i have a 7x3 set i do agree that the sliding really sucks i recommend getting this stuff called ice kream it is like a pad lubricant that helps with sliding and that the glove and blocker have too much extra stuff with the upper straps i removed the elastic Velcro and kept the nylon i believe it gave you the same feel without it being as chunky as the wide elastic also i don't really understand how the stiffness makes the pads feel better i previously had a pair of super old Bauer pads that were i think were extremely soft other than that i love the pads and think they're great if you're on a tight budget and want pads that you'll love.
was thinking on getting the 7x3s coming from a eflex 4 pad. what are your thoughts on the toe bungees?
@@gibburtI used the bungees for a few months than switched to laces because the screws kept falling off and getting loose. It was the best decision I’ve made yet I highly recommend just taking off the bungees obviously keeping them if you snap your lace but the laces give you better a RVH seal your ankles will thank you tremendously and your game will get better so I recommend using laces their are plenty of CZcams videos out there on how to do them
@@owenmckinley781 sounds good! thanks for the tips. I've also heard mixed feelings on the slide surface of the pad that has been tempting me to switch to a bauer pad. What are your thoughts on the slide and is there a real issue with it?
@@gibburt I won’t lie the sliding surface is pretty rough but strength and proper technique will do you better than relying on the sliding surface if you really like the true pads I’d get this thing called ice kream it’s like a wax/lube you put on the sliding surface to make it slide better
@@gibburtto add on to what I said once you have them and build up the strength to overcome the decent sliding surface it’s not something to be worried about
Thanks so much for the help! I've got a hyperlite 1 set, long time Vaughn guy and I love em.
After time, still prefer the v9 to V10?
On pure comfort the V9 was a little better, but V10 has better performance. Kind of toss up. Either one is a good option.
I never felt like 590 style gloves were ever really meant for catching ability, but for coverage. I've always had issues catching with them.
It’s a lot of personal preference when it comes to that. Overall 590 works the best for me. Within the 590 gloves, some work better than others for me. My 590 Vaughn XP glove is the best I’ve ever owned.
Personal preference. I catch by far the best with 590 style gloves. Cannot use the 600 to save my life and the 580 was just awkward for me.
Bud would u try a warrior e6.1 I had the hyperlite 1 set pads and mitts. I had the same problem as u with the glove. I bought a warrior glover and solved my problems.
Oh I know Warrior gloves are good. One of my first videos was on an R/GT set and I liked the glove. As far as trying things, I’m willing to try anything, it comes down what I’m willing to drop money on. There has to be something about the gear that intrigues me enough to buy it. Nothing Warrior has put out in awhile has done that. I’m right there with you on their gloves though.
Looks good man, can’t wait for your next reviews.
Love your content. Sorry for your loss
What are your thoughts on going custom with a hyperlite chesty and mach arms? Do you think that would be beneficial?
It’s really just personal preference when it comes to that. I think if that’s the combination you want, it’s worth doing it.
My condolence to you

I don’t have the receipt handy, but I wanna say it was like $800 for the mask. Around there. It’s on par with the price for most other pro level masks, but the store was selling it for 10% off as well. Wrap was $350 including shipping.
U mentioned u had warrior gloves. Curious why you’d choose Vaughn over warrior. Thanks
I only used the Warrior gloves because I bought a full set of gear to try. The catcher wasn’t bad and I really liked the wrist flexion it provides, but overall I just like Vaughn better. It’s more comfortable and I catch better with the Vaughn.
