Zone defense typically does help bad defenders due to the second wing/weak side defender. However this does not mitigate Matisse's effectiveness. He's the best defensive player in the draft. Matisse's reaction timing is what we have to focus on. It's absurd. He has better twitch reaction than Joel Embiid who has one of the best reaction timing skills in the league. But it's not just reaction timing. It's incredibly disciplined and awareness. His rotations are excellent not a wasted motion. Has Kawhi Leonard-esque hands and discipline doesn't reach. Low fouls given outrageous production.
