Also! I would love to know what you thought of this and who else's daily routine you would like to see!
czcams.com/video/OP3dA2GcAh8/video.html Here's a link to an Ali Abdaal video about the concept of The Second Brain. hope you can find it useful
It would maybe be fun to do Vincent Van Gogh's routine? Especially since he became famous after he died, and was actually very poor
Try Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) daily routine
@@marias3222 including no ear situation ?? 😂😂😂😂
Such a great video! To live a routine or pattern of someone that inspires you makes you feel a bit closer to them, definitely the only way to see what makes them tick, what makes them great.
If I was to chose I would like to see John F. Kennedy's routine and Tina Guo's. Very different I know, but I've picked JFK, though I'm not political, it amazes me that being from the UK I know more about American Presidents than British Prime ministers (😅) and he's routine must be fascinating (especially the day time naps).
Tina Guo because she's created something different in music by mixing Classical with Metal. I not overly into heavy metal but I listen to a lot of film soundtracks and she's inspired me to be try something different, especially if no one else has done it before.

"Her life offers an alternative to the unfortunate hustle culture that we see today." Ok, I'm in.
I bet you are, lazy guy
The Greatest go away troll
Agreed
humans still appreciate creative work
YES! That was exactly my thought
She was in her 40s when she became a writer,. Thank you for covering a part of her life.
Big CZcamsrs in 200 years: "I tried Nathaniel Drew's Daily Routine"
I actually want this
Which ends up being an amalgamation of a dozen other influential people's routines :D
They will be SO confused ...in a good way
YT can't last till then ❣️🇮🇳
✨Ha ha good one! 😁
YES! As a black writer today, I appreciated you expanding this series to include a black writer. Very gratifying to see.
This was a treat! Very inspiring ✨
❤❤❤

Is not that we need more female role models, we just need to point the light to them. There are female role models, there has always been, we just need to talk more about them. Great to see you did that! :)
Let's also not focus on the white women. There are plenty women of color who have done amazing things.
@@Kevin-uy4sv not about race … both black and white women have done great things, and both still hasn’t got enough light shined on them so be grateful for this moment.
I read Maya Angelou, I click IMMEDIATELY. I fell in love with Maya in middle school, & 'Letters to my daughter' which my dad bought for me, is one of the books I keep coming back to. I remember drawing a bad portrait of her when I was 15, and crying when I found out she passed. I was an immigrants' daughter in Saudi Arabia, and didn't share many of her experiences. But she struck something within me, nevertheless.
As a new Christian, it was inspiring to look back and see how she loved like Our Creator did, and the prayer she said the day her son got into a car crash, and the miracle that followed. Her journey took a whole new meaning for me recently.
I'm soo glad you enjoy her works too, Nathaniel.
‘Mom & Me & Mom’ did it for me 💛 had a rough relationship with my own mom, like she did.. it was cathartic to read about her experiences, while learning about her amazing career in which she transformed herself many times!
@@fluffyclouds555 I hadn't read that one yet. Right? She was a dancer, singer, writer and so much more. No wonder she was this disciplined
@@WintaAssefa yes she’s an incredible woman. Although her mother wasn’t perfect, I felt like Maya wrote about her very fairly. The good and the bad. The ways she wasn’t there but the times when she showed up for her. I can so relate to that. I haven’t read Letter to my daughter yet but I am planning to now!
Thanks for the book title! Adding it to my list! After watching this I am looking forward to read her and did not know where to start ✨
God Bless you in your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ as a new Christian. May you be salt and light to this world
I love this series and idea. I only wish you gave a bit more at the end on how it affected your life and your overall thoughts about her routine. It felt like it ended abruptly into the sponsored add. Loved it up till that point. Keep at it!!
I felt inspired to try it today and it was very productive! I got so much done! ✨
Yes I was interested in how long he did it for and the overall effect, considering it was a year ago. And yes I sat there waiting for it to continue after the sponsorship but it just ended!! Interesting all the same.
Yup. A bit disappointed that it was so abrupt. Really wanted to see how it turned out for him.
Same
Her voice is really comforting and motivating at the same time.
Yessss for highliting a black woman!! Maya Angelou is such an inspiration
Ayye
There's something about Nathaniel's energy that says he loves and respects women and I'm here for it.
that's the bare minimum but ok.
@@lightlawliet3526I actually completely agree with you, but unfortunately it isn't always the case!
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." Really inspiring quote wow 👏👏
Her passion and empathy was so strong. This was beautifully shown in the video Nathaniel. We all need to be inspired by incredibly creative people like her.
Thanks for featuring the great Maya Angelou- and breaking the mold by learning from a woman, and a black woman as well, she was exemplary and her "Still I Rise" poem is a classic and so inspirational...Great Job. Now I"m off to watch your Picasso one, as I'm an artist as well, and you've drawn me in! Your editing and storytelling skills are amazing by the way.
As a black woman, thanks for doing this! Then for Maya's routine- sublime!
Men need more female role models.
Progre.
No.
Men need more role models
I agree, maybe then those who think the world was built only by men will realize how mistaken they are in that assumption.
No sir, you are terribly mistaken.
As a series finale if you will, I would love to see your daily routine. Maybe it is completely different from the routines you've done or a combination of them all. That would be really interesting.
She had such a marvelous voice. I haven't heard it for some time now. I still recall coming across her book "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings". It was that title alone that drew me in... for me that would be circa 1977 at the age of 15. Great video!
In Bill Clinton’s eulogy at her funeral he said something along the lines of god finally calling her home because he needed his voice back. I thought that was just beautiful
Met her in college in 1974 and we all stood around her and she talked to us like she was our friend!!
her voice is so calming
This looked like such a simple routine to keep to, but the real power of it comes from being disciplined and sticking to it every day. This is a really interesting and inspiring series!
I recently learned her untold story was she was molested as an 8 year old. Her abuser spent 1 day in jail, when that person was found dead, she was horrified, and with a child's understanding, believed that her voice could kill; and did not speak again for 5 years.
Read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
Read all of her biographical books. She’s literally an adult human
I’m an old girl and many years ago I was reading James Baldwin’s book Giovanni Room on the bus. A white guy saw that and we discussed all things Baldwin. He went from one book to the next with enthusiasm. I can still feel how refreshing it was to experience that. I hated when he got off the bus. As a Black woman, that was my first time experiencing that. It was around 1995-96. Now this in 2021.🤗
Nathaniel Drew: “this is somewhat informal series”
Me an amateur youtuber: “uuhhhhh this editing is pristine” 😅
😍 amen 🙌🏻✨✨
you can see the amount of effort he puts in making these videos, always quality
Wonderful video, really took a lot away from this. I love Maya Angelou's outlook on life, and it was really cool to see you dip into her routine. Also, I use Notion too -- really helpful to see how YOU use it! :))
So insightful and inspiring. I tried it today and it was amazing! Very productive
Her work, her voice and her legacy is just amazing
✨ I've been with you since a couple hundred subs back in 2015, but this is my first comment. I remember back then I wanted to say "Nathaniel, you look exactly like one of those Fayum mummy portraits!" (I'm part Egyptian) but decided I'd be a silent partner instead. When I moved to Paris (from London where I live) and you followed a couple years later I thought I'd ask to meet for a coffee (although I drink tea - English upriniging) but decided I'd be an invisible partner instead. But you had to go and big up Maya Angelou and donate money to good black causes and I had no choice but to come out of my shell finally and give you an e-hug. You're a dear unrealised friend and I appreciate you. Hyden. ✨
Dear god, this is so damned inspiring. I’ve adored Maya since discovering her biographies, then poetry. I was always fascinated by her rumored work schedule; a hotel room with no phone, a mini refrigerator, paper, pens, a table. I love this series you’re doing, thanks so so much for creating these videos. So useful & helpful 🙏🏼🌹

I may not know you personally, but I believe in you my friend! 🙏
love love love this quote - thanks for sharing
I love this quote
Thanks for that
Thanks for sharing! Awesome Quote.
Thanks you fellow human
"Life's a bitch. You've gotta go out and kick ass." Best quote
Absolutely true
Ha ha... I thought he said, "You've gotta go out and get gas."
I saw the title of this video and thought, "hmmm where is he going with this." Wow -- this was so well done. Really appreciate the words you said in the beginning. The necessary framing we all needed.
Isolation is a great way to help get work done. I've heard of authors doing something similar going to hotels and doing something similar or even someone buying a flight to Japan and back, just to get alone time for deep work.
There are writers who went on long train rides for that purpose, also. I think Amtrak used to have a program where writers could apply for a free train trip to work on a writing project. Maybe it's still available.
This is the first routine that includes family time - finally something that is relatable for those of us with childcare responsibilities! I'm going to try it out. I don't really have a hotel room I can go to, but I have a room that's my home office that does have just a bed, bookshelf, and desk.
The storytelling, the choice of person to imitate, The choice of words to convey the story and the person. Everything. Simply outstanding.
I love the shift here in this series. Although we are all aware you're someone who admire diversity, I was sort of missing it in the videos. This is sooo good and sooo well done and I absolutely love that you picked Maya Angelou! Much respect! ❤️
“And still I rise” is literally tattooed on my forearm! One of my fav quotes from her 💛 loved this
I love that you chose Maya and did this genuinely and thoughtfully.
Love this.
Maya Angelou is such a mysterious charecter despite writing such relatable human experiences. Exploring her morning routine can give a perspective about the headspace she may have been in during some of her earlier years.
I started following your work during some of your "Learned (insert language) in" videos but your "Daily Routine" series, unofficial or not, is such a gem.
Wow, a white guy observing a strong successful black woman, what wonders are to be made! Congrats on your review, sir.
He's not white!
@@11kwright he’s white passing
I see a beautiful human. A wholesome guy.
You are incredible my dear sir! And thanks for bringing in a black voice to your work, this was necessary 💭
One of your Black American female followers here who finds you incredibly inspiring. Thanks so much for your tribute to this great woman from my community !!
I myself don't do it enough as I should, but waking up and starting your day early is a marvelous thing; there's almost a magical quality to it.
And I agree with other commentors: I want to watch a video of your daily routine😄
As a Black female, I appreciate seeing your inspiration related to a Black woman. I am a Certified Educator student who is learning the benefit of seeking out voices other than my own. I gain so much understanding about myself and the interconnectedness of humanity. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love when you do these daily routines! Incredibly insightful.
I loved the formatting and pacing of this so much i was invested from start to finish
These Deep Dive/Appreciation Projects are absolute gold, thanks Nathaniel!
I think this series of yours deserves its own playlist in your channel. Amazing video Nathan!
I love how you work through each artists’ daily routines! Absolutely loved this one, I definitely feel isolation helps me work (ironically given last year!)
Thank you so so much Nath for putting this beauty. Seeing your consistent uploads is kinda therapy for me.
I love this series. Gives me a deeper look into amazing people's lives. ❤
I love how each new video you release inspires me to chase an interesting life.
Dude, you’re an incredible filmmaker. I can’t wait to see what you do in the future
This is why you're one of my favorite CZcamsrs! So well done!!!
This is one of my most favorite youtube videos in a long time. Thank you. Her words, her thoughts, her energy, her writing influenced me so much growing up. She was a real example. My soul actually misses hers being here on this earth. I cried the day she passed.
I cried, too.
I loved her inside & out.
She was the mother, grandmother, aunt & professor I never had. I'm so grateful for what she left for us to dig through.
I love that you put in the effort to try to live her daily routine and that you shared it. Thank you for all the work that you put into this. I too love simplicity. It is how I prefer to live my life. I love to think and be in my own thoughts so Maya's routine is beautiful to me.
I love hearing her words about her experiences in interviews as you share your experience of her routine. Brilliant and inspiring. Thank you.
Dear Nathaniel. Thank you for this great post.
I'm black African and knew about Maya Angelou but now I see her with fresh eyes.
I came back to your channel after see you on Pick up Limes and wanted to dhare your links about how to learn Spanish for a friend and German for myself( I know even know if you did that yet😂).
Thank you very much
Divinely inconvenient - best description ever!
I love this video! I usually wake at 5am, but it’s been a struggle lately. This was a helpful reminder of that purpose.
This was just great, Nathaniel! Loved all the clips you put in! Really enjoyed seeing this wonderful woman through your eyes in your own way!!
Nathaniel this was one of your best videos. I loved the use of the phone alarm each day really driving home Maya's disciplined approach to creating her art. I'm in the thought phase of creating my own channel and you are an inspiration because your content is almost always deeper and gives the viewer insight into the commonality of our human condition. Thank you sir.
I’m shocked how little views this upload has you are the man thank you for the inspirational content!
Wow Nate, I love watching you explore the world, not only seeing and capturing but actually trying to live the experience. It's an inspiration to us all to get outside and really look at the world through a new perspective. Jeez such a gem.
you videos are so cinematic and captivating. Maya is such an inspiration and combined with your editing style I had chills throughout most of this video.
THANK YOU FOR DONATING!!!

Really amazing video, your authenticity shines through.
Nathaniel, I absolutely adore your videos. Thanks so much for this, Maya Angelou is so inspiring 🤍
This was sublime. Thank you for making this.
What a thoughtful and encouraging video! Thank you.
Your videos teach me more and captivate my attention more than big name documentaries on tv. So thankful I found your channel ✨
this video is very moving and powerful, thank you for touching on this. the editing is also superb! y'all saw the timelapse with the hands on the watch spinning? wowiee
These artist routine videos are so cool and fun to watch. I love Maya Angelou!! Thanks for the inspiration :)
Truly touched by you doing this video
This is well done, respectful, and informative. Great job.
This is powerful and amazing. I’m inspired. It’s obvious that you’re not doing this for views or clout. Nuff respect! #simplicity is awesome!!
Wow,thank you, she was an incredible person, I had the pleasure of meeting her when I was a young child and it impacted my entire life
Nathaniel is probably the most unique storyteller of our generation.
I’ve never read any of her work, but I have heard good things about her and her stuff. Great video, Nathaniel!
Beautiful, thoughtful and intentional storytelling. Loved hearing about her faith journey and how she was adamant about framing what she did as work. Creativity is a gift. Creating is work.
Absolutely loved this Nathaniel! This is honestly a routine I'd adopt as well.
This was so pleasant to watch, and refreshing!
You’re a real one for uplifting black women. So many ppl in media bring us down, steal from us and don’t acknowledge our art and beauty even our suffering in a light that is educational. So much respect to you 🙏🏽 It should be a norm.
Thank you for doing Queen Maya! I first starting reading her sacred works as a teen and she continues to inspire way into my adult life.
Lov u broh, would love to see you try haruki murakami's routine
Also, i think you would fall in love with his vinyl collection playlist on spotify, it is fucking great for writing
yessss
Thank you for taking your time and putting in a lot of effort to inspire us. For real it means a lot 🙏🏼
Well done! Love this video!!
I learn so much from your routine videos. 🙏🏽
Thank you for this; it turned out to be one of the videos you've done that I liked best. Remarkable woman. You showing part of her "routine", with clips, was so well done; you yourself seemed so relaxed and excited too, that I simply wanted to comment
i teared up when you played the clip where she said, “Give everything”. Amazing work and so touching!
This is so inspiring! Thank you Nath for your amazing contribution!
Your channel is everything for me, you inspire me so much, I hope one day to go as far as you. Thanks for all the videos, all the reflections, and all the motivation to keep going.
Very cool series idea, can’t wait to see more!
I love this series! What an opportunity to see into some of the way creative geniuses lived their lives. And the more unconventional the more intriguing it is.
Loving your work. I share your love of inspirational people.
This is amazing...a few months ago I decided to research writers daily routines because I wasn’t getting much work done. I then came across Miss Maya’s routine and wondered what it would actually look like....then look! Your content ideas inspire, just as her work ethic has inspired us all. I’m so grateful for this👏🏽💯😀
