I love the small block Ford, and almost all Ford engines, you could definitely make it breathe a lot better than they did from the factory in these but they are limited to a point just because of the block strength.
Better yet no lightning came with a Manuel transmission plus several other things in the cab are not Lightning this is NO LIGHTNING but a fake copy cat.
So from what I can tell, it's less to do with the pump, and more to do with line fittings weeping and getting a little low on fluid. The one in my 93 f150 leaks a hair, and will start to whine when it gets low, but shuts right up once you top it off. I swapped OEM foxbody ones in my Econoline and ranger, and no issues there.
My '99 F250 still has the original radio/CD/tape headunit. I refuse to replace it because I actually have some old tapes that I still listen to now and again.
I would say it's more durable considering the extra weight it pulls around in trucks. They used them in 2wd and 4wd applications. They aren't designed to be shifted fast. I've had to change top covers several times because of worn shift forks.
I swapped to a manual transmission harness so I could get my reverse lights working. It still has the stock ecm so the idle hangs sometimes, but it's not really a problem while driving.
Hey my dad has a 1993 f250 and it does a whining noise too but idk what it is tho and the engine isn't duperchargered i believe the engine is a 1993 f250 302 5.0
@@CarsFoodWeed I have a 600hp 383 supercharged small block 94' lightning, red with tubular rear bumper, I've always considered doing a manual swap but just don't have the time.

@@MM_405 bumping this year old comment. Besides the manual swap, what are the multiple things? Seats, oem foglight switch, 120mph speedo, they’re all there. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
Thank you for owning and driving one of these trucks with a REAL transmission!
I can only imagine the potential these motors have.

Love the truck especially since it’s a manual that’s Awesome 👍🏽
Badass truck man 🙏🏼
I have the exact same shift knob on my 88 f150. And that is where the similarities end. I'd kill for that truck, my man.

@@MM_405 So what's missing from my truck Mr. Lightning Expert? go ahead and school me. I don't see any videos of your truck on your channel.
Ahh yes the old Ford power steering whine haha... My 89 F350 whines a bit as well.
I've read that the saginaw pump is supposed to be a good upgrade
@@CarsFoodWeed yep. You can get those out of the e150 vans.
may run fine like that for another 100k miles, you never know. It's basically normal for them

awesome truck enjoy it!
This thing idles pretty high.
Love the manual swapped SVT lighting. Would love to own one myself. Guess Ill stick with my regular 5 speed swapped 351 F150
The regular ones are also great trucks
Amazing truck
Sounds great man
Thanks
Lol my 93 rangers door panels were making the same noise I ran a self tapper through em 😂
It's cool it still has the cassette deck a lot of people like to replace them...

I could be wrong, but I think you have a bearing going out on one of your pulleys.
That road was bumpy.
I’m jealous.
There is one thing we agree on........I love Cars......Food......and Weed!

How durable is the M5OD r2? Around the same as a foxbody t5?

Did you have to do any ecm stuff to do the swap since it was previously automatic?
Also would love to see the overview video if you have time
I swapped to a manual transmission harness so I could get my reverse lights working. It still has the stock ecm so the idle hangs sometimes, but it's not really a problem while driving.

Check the level of the power steering fluid.
Sometimes the pumps just whine, I've driven fords all my life so it doesn't bother me
Nothing beats that sexy pushrod sound. Regardless of more power, engines today sound so lame.
Reading the comments on it being a manual, it's called a swap people...
I hold my steering wheel like that too lmao
5 speed swap? Cool. What you rubbing for a transmission? Those things are a little heavy to just do the birthday t5 swap I feel like.
We're using the M5OD r2
@@CarsFoodWeed hell yeah!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a fun driver
Did it come manual out the factory bad ass truck tho bro
Hi I'm Walter in Nassau looking for a dash board for one like it but love the the stick man brings out the sound better
How do you have a Manual? I thought it was automatic only
Truck has been swapped to an M5OD r2. Just use all the regular stuff from 5.0 rwd truck.
Only one I've seen with a manual!
Had a Club on my 1994 Ranger STX 4x2. Target acQuired
Is that manual tranny factory or did you put it in yourself because I thought all of those Ford Lightnings had automatic trans?
It's swapped
1st gen lightnings did not come manual from the factory. Please explain
Exactly lol
It's been swapped over to an M5OD R2
Cars Food Weed Oh sweet 👌🏼. Was it difficult to do the swap? Mine still has the E4OD in it
@@antonior2944 It's pretty straightforward, I'll do an overview video of the swap soon.
From my understanding there are very few and extremely rare first gen Lightnings.. I could be wrong..
How does this Lightning have a manual transmission??
swapped manual into it
I’ll take it
00:29 sammeeeeeeee I gotta do that to 😂💀
Pick up some bigger screws from home depot, that fixed it for me

It’s the door panel, mine does the same thing.
Hey man, why does she idle so high?
It needed a new IAC and EGR, previous owner neglected a lot on this truck.

The window motor is loose bud that’s the snaking you hear in the door

this airbagless steering wheel with buttons on it looks kinda odd

converted to manual?
Yes it's a m5od r2
5k...
You paid 4k for it?
No it's a 4k video
Excuse me your 93 has power windows
Yeah it's pretty dope, the power locks are broke though
lightnings were all automatics
This one was until the e40d exploded. The m5od is a much more robust transmission for racing use.
