Cass, you are a thousand times more beautiful than a Kardashian, both inside and out. Also more entertaining! 😁
Agreed!!!
I agree absolutely and completely!!!!!!!
I totally agree
Truth.
I'll take you over them ANYDAY!🙂
Just watched this with my 7 year old son. When you were going through makeup and said you weren't a Kardashian he said, "what does she mean? She's pretty!"
There you go!
She really is!!
I just love kids. They are so honest!
Aww! So sweet, and true!!
What a sweetheart
It isn’t about having LESS STUFF, It’s about having MORE SELF ESTEEM! - I love that! Thanks for being so real and vulnerable
I love this. You are so good. It’s not that the products failed to “fix” you; it’s that you aren’t broken. You are enough. This extra stuff doesn’t add to you, and it being gone doesn’t subtract from you. Beautiful.
⬆️⬆️⬆️👏👏👏
Yes yes yes. This needs to be a daily reminder!
This response 🥰🥰🥰 exactly.
"This stuff is bullying me" is the most powerful thing I've heard all day. Mind blown. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
OMG YES IT BULLYS ME!😭
That’s kinda a “victim” statement to me. 🤨
@@tyhawl1 Just a short cut way to say how burdensome clutter is. It's liberating to have it gone and revel in the space left behind. Decluttering is taking charge and freeing up our mental space.
@@tyhawl1 Not if you're recognising the bullies and then cutting them out of your life for good.
When I turned 40, it was such a relief. As someone who spent much of her 30's getting injected with botox, fillers, having my hair permanently straightened, highlighted, wearing god-awful waist cinchers trying to remain visible, I was finally liberated from the prison of trying to look 20. The stuff I was putting in my body, was toxic, but even worse, was what I was doing to my self esteem. I'm 47 and looking forward to 50. I have grown out my greys and I actually wish I had more. I have zero shame when it comes to aging and because of that, I am 10 times healthier than I was in my 30's. Shame causes inflammation and inflammation is the start of so many diseases. No thank you! Cas, I hope you know how much we love you, even with crazy foam donuts in your hair.
This was so hard to watch, to hear you saying mean things to yourself, and to recognize that I do exactly the same thing - and so many other women. Something that really been helping me with exactly the same feelings has actually been coming out of lockdown and seeing my friends without masks for the first time in so long and being so excited to see their faces, because I love my friends, and their faces are what I see, and I know that's what they are thinking when they see me, too. Faces aren't special and beautiful because they achieve some weirdly immobile botoxed and strangely contoured, bronzed and hightlighted standard. Faces are beautiful because they belong to people we love! Thanks for being so real!
Love this!
Thank you for speaking the truth to me! I just grew up some more from watching you learn too! Stick together girls!
This was beautiful!
@@Clutterbug MODERN SKINCARE LIE: hey cas, you said you have skin issues,so did I since 13 & at the age of 25 I've tried many skin/hair care products for acne/dandruff etc only to realize that most of the modern skin/hair care is a lie, even the soaps and face washes, shampoos.
- ACNE CAUSES: the reason we get acne is because foaming, anti-bacterial products with harsh preservatives mess with our natural microbiome and deplete our natural oils I.e sebum which is the best moisturizer, only reason it clogs pores is because we kill our good bacteria which actually help us fight bad bacteria and repair other issues. But due to years of marketing and brainwashing we've gotten used to the "squeaky clean" feeling which is purely psychological.
- GUYS SECRET:many guys who don't do skin care (one's that don't use facewash and soaps & just use water) have good acne free skin, even if there's ocassional acne/unless it's hormonal/due to food.
- WATER CLEANSING: even that can be helped with just using water to cleanse/oil cleanse without excess but with little gentle massage without too much scrubbing to remove sunscreen/makeup (as that's water proof).
- FULLERS EARTH: Or use very little fullers earth powder (clay)/any non-anti-bacterial natural cleanser that doesn't have anything else that's problematic added as facewash without overly rubbing/stripping natural oils till you get used to water cleansing.
- MICROBIOME FRIENDLY MOISTURIZER: & Using sunflower oil which is non-comdedognic-doesnt't clog pores/aloe vera gel as moisturizer if sunflower oil doesn't work or any microbiome friendly moisturizer that's free of comedogenic ingredients & harsh preservatives. that too only if your skin still breaks out because your sebum has depleted other wise just sebum acts as moisturizer. And sunscreen is still needed though. And it takes some weeks for the skin to adjust to this.
- ACNE MECHANICA: And given that you keep everything that touches your hands and face clean eg.hand, face towels, phone, neck pillows, pillow cases etc. Because that causes acne mechanica : caused by irritation/catching dirt from objects.
- HAIR CARE: Same for hair I switched from shampoos & conditioners to washing with fullers earth and few drops of light oil to the ends post wash to battle dryness and my hairfall went away 90%. rhassoul clay is a better option.
-WATER CLEANSING HAIR: just water cleansing if you don't use hair oils in high amounts, don't go in pollution and use chemical based hair products and are willing to wait for 3-6 months so over production of sebum calms down then that works too. May be I'll try aloe vera gel for edges of hair too.
- Even many dermats don't know about this except ones that are updated.
- TEMPORARY PRODUCTS: And most external anti-ageing products are temporary with many side effects, and some products might Even age people faster.
- SOCIAL SHAMING: I was shamed into using a moisturizer by a teen my age & socially conditioned to use facewashes/creams the moment I stepped into modern society but before everything was fine because I was a sheltered kid.
- HONEST STORY: Only brand that made me realize was the brand named honest.story on ig and if you want to go even deeper you can read the book "clean'" by James hamblin (based on which honest story was formed). And focusing on prevention of root causes is a better step to Better health too.
- CELEBRITY HARDSHIPS: and no hate to celebs but they're just normal people that are just expected to stay perfect hence they need to risk their mental well being & even health & waste their hard earned money by undergoing surgical procedures and health than fixing the root causes.
- CELEBRITY HARDSHIPS 2: And most of them have to keep up their appearances by using makeup, dermatological procedures etc. and side effects of all that are so many that you could write a book on it.
- PRICE OF BEING A CELEB: i wouldn't want to be a celeb even if i could even with all the pros because they need to run to quick fixes than actually have the time to figure out root causes..

I’m a licensed esthetician and wish to share an interesting fact about the beauty products. They all have an expiration date! Once the ingredients separate themselves, it’s no longer effective. Hence, it’s a waste of space and time if one tries to continue using it or saving it for later. Also, it may cause a serious reaction to some people, as the chemicals change overtime too. So, the more reason to use them all up soon after purchase and to throw away the old ones as well.
Thanks for the info!
YES! Even natural stuff has oils that will go rancid eventually. I try to keep one thing that works for me and use it until its gone.
I have some fragrance creams and perfumes that are more than 10 years old. They were expensive gifts. But I am finding a lot places that I go to, you cannot where perfumed products anymore. Should I keep or donate or trash. Thanks
I use any expired cosmetic oils as lubricants for door/wardrobe door/screw/hinge/any machinery like printer/any mechanisms by using a needle and a syringe to lead oil to nooks and cranies lol which keeps em good as new.
- SHAMPOO REPURPOSE: And use shampoos as detergent for my combs/random stuff that doesn't touch the skin etc.
- BOTTLE REPURPOSING: keep the bottles and use them as diy projects so it's not wasted. I keep googling things as to how to use those things, eg. Toothpastes can be used to remove scratches from plastic & a lot more.
- CONDITIONER/CREAM REPURPOSING : tell me what I can do with conditioners without it having to be used by humans, Idk what I could use the conditioners/creams as though, may be used creams as foot cream if they're not wayy past the expiry date (or may be not since you say they're useless) or may be creams and conditioners both can be used as lubricants for machines too (i won't use it for any thing expensive like a printer though, but just something like a door hinge).
-NAIL PAINT REPURPOSING : I can use nail paints/mascara for diy art or naming my clothes/items in hurry ,empty the mascara bottle and fill castor oil in it to use it as lash and brow oil. And fill clear nail paint bottle with a good oil to use as nail/cuticle oil, The ideas are too many.
- MINDFUL SHOPPING: And I think hard about what product to buy and if i really need it,and if I can fix it naturally by figuring out the root cause, every bad purchase is a lesson.
Aaw my heart broke with you saying you need to “fix the face” 🥺 Cas, your face is full of warmth, care, honesty, and humor, and makes me glad every time I see you, even through the screen 💕 You definitely twinkle, and bring a little light to my day! Make up or skincare can’t give you those things, no matter how much is used (and I am a makeup-skincare-hair product loving girl, lol!). If you want to, try just finding your favorite facial feature and focus on showing it off, but I promise we all see a beautiful you 💜🤗
Yes, indeed.🙂
Agree and what a lovely comment! ❤️
Yes! Leslie speaks the truth. And what a good tip: focus on your favourite feature! For me, it is my eyes. They are hazel just like my Father's. It really helps me to focus on priority makeup.
I agree, she is adorable from the inside out! No need to worry about what you look like, you look just fine!
This is what I came here to say! Cas, I think you are gorgeous! Your face is so expressive & inviting.
"You see junk, I see... Hope." 🤣 Truer words have never been spoken! Lol. I even have a vanity in my room that I'll go through. Lol
Going down memory lane with "a vanity" (do they exist any more?), I never had one. Beyond that, I have gotten rid of 'home permanent' rollers along with the papers, and hair rollers worn to bed more frequently than I care to admit (haven't used them since I got married). Electric tools have replaced those, yet they too are numerous and wear out, and somehow are hard to toss out.
I struggle with basically every area but I wanted to share this. I have been on my own decluttering journey for about nine months. Some things are of course harder to get rid of than others.
This morning I sold a baby winter overall that all four of my children wore in their first winters. Those tiny babies in that sweet, fluffy little snowsuit, head to toe softness. It was so tiny, so fluffy and soft, and that sweet baby smell... I sold it for the equivalent of around five dollars. I have had it sitting around for years, going from storage container to storage container because I could never bring myself to let it go. The two little satiny elephants embroidered on the chest, the soft fabric, and that forever baby smell... I just struggled.
As I packed it into the bag for shipping, I literally hugged it, snuggled it, smelled it, and cried while I folded it gently and put it in the bag, taped it shut, and put the label on for shipping. I am crying again now as I write this. I know this isn't about bathroom things, but I so relate the struggle, the guilt, all of the emotions that come when trying to declutter your home.
One day at a time, one thing at a time, five minutes at a time, ever forward, right? Thank you so much, Cas, for your videos and keeping me motivated as to why I am putting myself through all this. It is worth it!
Ouch. This hurt to read. Some things are too special to let go. I kept my boys baby grows. It’s my reminder that they were once my babies. ❤
I just paused the video when I heard you say, "There is no makeup on the planet that is going to fix my face"...CAS! My heart hurt when you said that! I so look forward to seeing your lovely, friendly, inviting, kind, beautiful face when you post a new video! I feel like I have a friend walking alongside me in the journey to bring our home under control, and I sincerely hope that you will have eyes to see you as all of us who are so grateful for your help see you. Thank you for all you do-I am sincerely grateful, and cannot adequately express how much your work has helped me to make our house a place of peace and rest ❤.
You are so much more beautiful than a Kardashian inside and out!❤💙💜
Cas… you’re not a fraud and you’re not alone. You’re inspiring! Thank you for sharing your vulnerabilities and awesome personality with us!
And your advice! Got rid of a good amount of trash last week and was waiting for this to come out so I could tackle week 2 as well :)
Yes!!! Definitely not a fraud. Cas, you're relatable and I love that you called this stuff your bullies in the bathroom. My guilty pleasures are beauty products and skincare; trying to find something that works for my skin too. OH and I love shampoo. My husband: Do you really need 3 different kinds of shampoo bottles in the shower? Yes. Yes I do. I rotate them out lol.
We buy into the myth of beauty for awhile, then we learn the truth and we get set free!
You are not alone Cas!! I struggle with all of that too... I lost all of my hair in 2016 from breast cancer and I can't seem to declutter anything from that time, even the hair products for my wig. I am always in the "what if" stage with that!! You have been inspiring to me to realize it can be done with make-up, hair products and stuff I haven't used in years. My excuse is "I don't have enough room for all of my stuff." I need to change my mindset!!! Thank you for being honest and transparent. I'm still trying...
Really hit home when you said “bullying you”...never thought of it that way but it’s so true! That broke the anguish of letting go of items I spent good money on and know I will never use them. Thank you!!
Who cares for any Kardashians when your own looks, your heart, your brain, your abilities and your sense for comedy are so adorable! Not to mention your dog 😜😘
HERE, HERE...I AGREE!!
Also agree. You are far more lovely than Kardashians.
Exactly! I have never wasted a single minute of my life by watching The Kardashians, but I can easily spend couple of hours binge watching Clutterbug-videos. And feel soo much better of myself, my home and the world afterwards! 😃🥰
@@tuikkur.5655 Same here! 🤗
@@tuikkur.5655, I'm with you; will not waste 1 second of my life watching Kardashians.
But, will binge watch Cas and put her USEFUL tips to work!
Before you throw away everything: places like Project Beauty Share and local women's shelters accept donations of new and gently-used makeup, skincare, soap, etc. (Check first, as they don't take everything!) PLEASE give this a try to keep things out of the landfill when they could actually help someone in need! - Oh, and animal shelters apparently love old bath towels.
Yes! I have donated towels to the humane society.
Animal shelters also accept old blankets and comforters for bedding and with winter coming the needs are urgent.
☮️💖🙏
Yea the animal shelters take blankets, towels etc. I also know a vet tech that buys blankets at Goodwill for her furry friends.
Can I just say that I love you? I really do! I thank God that I found your channel. You are a rockstar girl 💪👍👏 Also, Domestic Violence shelters take gently used items like make up, lotions, beauty products ect. And animal shelters love blankets, sheets, towels ect.
I was thinking the same thing! I hope those makeup bags and plastic bins didn’t end up in the actual trash. Those could definitely be reused by someone else! And there are plenty of places that take travel items, lightly used makeup, etc, but even if you can’t find an organization it’s worth asking people we know if they want any of them too. I know a stranger might not want my barely used lotion, but my sister or friend might not mind at all. Let’s try to not make decluttering more wasteful than it needs to be! 🙏🏼
This has been so far my favourite end story, we all struggle with decluttering something and finding why and let go, that's like therapy, thank you for your honesty Cass, you are beautiful just the way you are, love to you
This video was super helpful! Also, please don’t throw away those product holders! Teachers love using those to organize their classrooms - they are something that can be donated to a loving classroom that needs them! ☺️
As I watch this video I see a lovely young woman with pretty skin, hair, and no flaws.
Seriously yes! 🤍
ikr? She looks fantastic!
I think it's really sad that so many women are insecure about how they look. And it doesn't seem to matter what anyone else thinks... I've read that Michelle Pfeiffer thinks she looks like a duck... And Elizabeth Taylor never understood why people thought she was beautiful. Cass, you're gorgeous. Start trying to believe that.
I LOOOOOOOVE the honesty of this! Honestly so encouraging that you, as a professional in this area, struggle with this too!
If you were a “kardashian” like person, I would NEVER have watched your channel!! Thanks for being just you🙃
Exactly! Cass, you are nothing like the Kardashians and that is one of the biggest compliments I can think of!
CLOTHING is my problem area! I have struggled with my weight for YEARS! I keep holding onto clothing "hoping" I eventually get to that magical weight! Perfectly good brand new items a lot with tghe tags still on them that have never been used! Thank you for all you do! LOVE you & your videos!
Just for the record, Cass, you are quite beautiful the way you are! Love your videos and that you are such a real person!
I literally did this yesterday! It hurt to think about the money I had wasted on stuff I didn’t use (haircare products was my big thing yesterday), but I’ve simplified my skin care, haircare, and makeup over the last couple of years, so at least I know it won’t build up again. My husband thanked me this morning when he put the garbage out for the warning him that the garbage can was so heavy! I told him the house was that much lighter now. 😂
I love the thought of the house being lighter, thank you.
Miss Cass.... I actually save my used makeup brushes, ... they work fabulously for my furniture painting projects, and for dusting fragile items, if it's a clean fluffy brush ( dusting ).
I wash them really well, and I enjoy being able to repurpose those.
But, I agree, with a lot of hair products that we purchase , ... I seldom buy things for hair and if I do ,and I don't like it, goes to my daughters, lol.
I sometimes mix foundations that create the perfect color. I also place an extra hair dryer, curling wand and flat iron in my extra bathrooms. No kids living at home but they use these items when they visit. Yes, the clutter is real for me too.
You are so incredibly adorable...I love watching you ❤
I am a 64 year old woman and I truly admire your videos and tutorials, I also get inspired by watching you...
Thank you so much for your inspiration 🙏 ❤
Really appreciate you ripping off the bandaid and getting to the heart of the issue on why it’s so hard to let these useless items go! They are a reminder of a poor decision we made, or an insecurity we have. I’ve never thought of it like that and framing it this way will help me be more conscientious of my purchases in the future.
I couldn't help but laugh, when I saw your pup go to the basket under table by couch. I couldn't figure out what he was doing, until I saw him dig his toy out.... 🥰😍😂🤣🤭🤩🤩
That's Oscar!
Due to your inspirational declutter videos, I've organized 4 of my kitchen cabinets this week. I had 33 coffee cups, I live alone, and never have more than one or two people over at a time. Thank you for giving me the enthusiasm to begin getting rid of the chaos.
This is so amazingly true- LOL! I love mugs, but only have one or two guests over. TY for permission to cull the collection ((:
Please keep them coming! We need your "boot camp" videos! You are so right! These thing are like Bully's hanging over us, but more importantly taking up valuable space in our lives. Thank you Cass for your videos! 🙏💕🌴😎
so pre-pandemic (and depending on where you work) I would take any lotions I didn't like or perfumes with a note that said FREE to use. I would also take samples and put a note on them with FREE to good home. it was amazing how a certain perfume I hated - someone else loved or there was someone going on a trip who could use the samples. As long as nothing was old I just put it out. Now I did work in a large office with over 250 people so products soon found good homes. it did help me get rid of a lot of good products that were usually brand new and I didn't feel guilty then about getting rid of them.
9:06 I am gonna come back to this again and again when I need a laugh! 😂😂 That cord problem is so real.
I really need a better appliance storage system, lol.
Loving this declutter bootcamp! It is pushing me even harder to really evaluate my space and belongings.
One thing that has been so helpful for me - I have eliminated shampoo and conditioner from my regime, healing my gross scalp condition permanently. I owe is all to a product called Hairstory - one refillable bottle and all organic ingredients. Also, all the old shampoo was used as toilet cleaner and now it is all decluttered! Win-Win
I have every skin "condition" you listed and have finally (after 49 years) found the right products: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, CeraVe Retinol Serum (only use at night), and CeraVe Ultra Light Moisturizing Lotion (it has SPF, but I use it at night also), My skin has never looked, or felt, better.
Me too, it is great!
I love their products!
Same!!!!
My teen, who has eczema, loves CeraVe products
I really need to do this! And yes, it’s so painful!!! 😭😭 Thank you for being real and letting me know I’m lot the only one with a hot mess in my bathroom. 🤣
The green containers from DollarTree 💚💚💚 I love them but have too much:( how do I organize my organizers lol??
@@mrslvw ha good for you
@@mrslvw use them as gift containers for small gifts, co-worker Christmas snack pack, a get well box for someone etc
@@herefortheacoustics9987 thx but I know what to do with them and am not opposed to just donating them. My issue is knowing what to keep as not done organizing my house so not sure. I also want the colors and styles I have and am afraid won't be around if need later lol. Stupid I know but it's a "simple" declutter that I can't resolve.
@@mrslvw I'm bad about shoving the extra storage containers under my bed. Now the cat can't hide under there. Lol
Thank you Cass. Seeing you dump those emotional things is so helpful.
Glad I could help!
"Things in your bathroom bully you". So true.
One of the things I have learned in my decluttering journey is, when it’s hard to let something go, is to keep the lesson it teaches you. Like, learning that you never use something like that so don’t buy anything like it again. That it doesn’t work for you and you paid $ to find that out, that just because it’s free (samples or hotel shampoo) doesn’t mean you should take it because all it does is pile up. The more it “hurts” to get rid of it, the more I say to myself that I have to learn not to do it again!
Ooh this is good! Thank you for this comment!
I'm tossing out the samples! And just need to stop taking all the hotel shampoo!
Sending you a hug with the confirmation that you are not alone friend...you are not alone.
I love how I don't feel like an anomaly when I use your videos to help myself!
Girl! Stop being so hard on yourself! You can’t fix what’s not broken! You are enough!! 💗
Cas, you are much more beautiful than a Kardashian, because you are real and down to Earth 😊! Love your bubbly style and clever content💕
I donated all my unused makeup to my beauty school I went to. The used makeup can be donated, spray with alcohol. The lotion & perfumes can be donated to a women’s shelter. The makeup tools can also be donated. Vitamins & supplements do last beyond the “expiration date” they just loose potency. I’ve worked in the medical field for over 20 years. I’ve used “expired” vitamins and medications and they are fine if they are sealed properly. My point is donate, before trashing everything. Have a blessed day Cass. Long time subscriber.
Cas I remember the bump! I just wanted to say that you look great! You also look like you’re feeling good and that makes me happy! I’ve always loved how real you are and authentic you are on your CZcams channel! You inspire me to be myself and to love myself! I can’t say thank you enough!
Aw, you're so welcome!
You are so right! After my last move, I purged a ton of my bathroom junk and told myself I could not buy another body lotion until I used up ALL that I had. A year and a half later and I still have at least half of it left, but I feel GREAT anytime I use up a Bath & Body Works Tube! And the stuff I tossed/donated, I don't miss one bit. Thanks for the practical list and showing us that even amazing organizers have a hard time parting with things. ❤
I swear I need a day for decluttering my CZcams subscriptions (def keeping clutter bug!) and email subscriptions. Every time I get on CZcams on our tv my husband and son are just like, why do you have soooooooo many channels you follow! You can’t even find the ones you like because you have to scroll so long to get to it!😬
About 2 weeks ago I unsubscribed CZcams channels I was not looking at, no longer had interest in, the channel is taking very long/or not posting any new videos or gave me a negative effect/anxiety.
When I start approaching 100 channels, I go through them real quick and unsub about half of them. There are only 2 channels I have never unsubbed and that is Cas' and Kathryn's (Do It On A Dime). I went through this phase of watching people metal-detecting... now I can't for the life of me figure out how I was even remotely interested in that. lol
@@rosepetal1332 I’m literally subscribed to “the boring channel”. My hubby is like, why are you watching a guy mow lawns 😂, It was calming ok! Don’t judge me!
@@rosepetal1332 and I just counted, I’m at 260 subscriptions… definitely need to pare down!
@@rosepetal1332 I did it! Down to 64 ☺️ Didn’t take as long as I thought it would, go me! Now my husband and son can stop teasing me lol.
My struggle is with home decor. I feel that I’m not much of a decorator and I feel bad about buying things that then don’t work for my space. But I hang on to it thinking I’ll find a place for it later. I used to be like that with craft projects and supplies too. That one’s not so hard anymore. But I do think you’re right and feeling the pain and regret will help in your future buying habits. Great job with this! You go girl!
I have a hard time with letting go of home decor and craft projects too!
I agree. I am the same. I have so much decor. And craft supplies. So afraid is getting rid of it. 😖
This was a real struggle for you. You are so brave to share the experince.
You are perfect just the way you are.
I just gave away 6 bags of soap crafting stuff , I thought some day I would go back to making soap and its been over 2 years :/ felt so good to give to someone that was super excited to sty to make soap :D
With ya! And I used to be terrible about returning stuff. I finally stopped buying certain stuff at hard to return stores so now when I get home and it doesn't work I actually take it back.
The information you share is valuable but the real emotions we share are even more inspirating and motivational. Thank you,Cas! 😁
Omg you hit the nail on the head with this video. But when you sit with the realization and waste it helps you be a better shopper.
I did this with so much of my makeup and skincare and now i only buy what makes sense for me not my future self I kept buying for each time.
Good for you!
Here's one for y'all! 7 years post menopausal, and still have an entire cabinet of individually wrapped feminine products!
Decided to pack them up, along with some individually wrapped toilet paper and drop it off at a local homeless camp.
I donated mine when there was a local flood & that was one of the things they were requesting urgent need for. I'm like, I have a couple boxes I don't need!!
Too funny! 😂
Local women shelter maybe?
I use a Diva Cup and don't use tampons anymore. But I keep a basket of tampons and pads in the cabinet next to the toilet in every bathroom. I have two daughters and I want their friends to be able to find anything they might need in an emergency.
I will always keep some for the younger women in my life, but they only need so many for emergencies. I remember my Grandmother having some in her bathroom closet all her life -- she had a hysterectomy after her 4th child, but still had some really old stuff in her closet when she passed at age 83. lol
I learned something recently and now I remind myself of it every time I hesitate to declutter: It's the PAIN we're afraid of. 💖
Keep being beautiful you, Cas! Your honesty, humor and vivaciousness are such a gift. And your face and body are wonderful vessels to hold and express who you truly are. Thank you for helping me to deal with my own insecurities - you're a joy - even when you're sad or struggling. I appreciate you greatly!
Thank you so much!!
The story of a foot-brace "going to a good home" resonated. Our son was ten when his father died, and the house was full of his things, down to two pairs of trousers flung over the wardrobe door. Son didn't want anything moved, let alone leaving the house. Two years on ...I said a charity shop would give other people a chance to enjoy them, and this time he said yes. Sorted. :)
Another great video. First to say that "whatever" someone's personal hangups are, the emotions are still the same. Second to say that the more situations like this we go ahead & handle, the easier & more natural it becomes. Finally, we women are all so darn hard on ourselves ! Listen, at 71 now (😳 whaaat ?? 🤣) I've learned this one thing for sure. Every few years as look back at old photos I'm "shocked" how darn good I looked but remember that at that time I thought I was barely passable. So, Enjoy where you are & be less obsessed with the manusha. 🤗 The more comfortable we are how God's made us , the more that people will enjoy us & we'll love ourselves. ❤
@Tanea Smith Your very sweet 🥰
At 61 myself I day amen! to this. 💞
SO TRUE! I'm 75 & I'm telling my kids...love who God made you to be, only He knows how precious we are!!!
This is awesome. Last week I got rid of 4 bags of garbage and filled 3 large gift bags for donation. Today is trash pick up day, so I'm again challenging myself to fill my trash bin. I have so much unused stuff. I can think of 3 areas right now that have used, undonatable items that can just go in the trash. Thank you Cas for the weekly liberation! ❤❤
You go Girl....I'm back out to the garage, again....to work thru the craft supplies.
@@kimberlywalker1015 you can do this! Craft supplies are hard. I have to downsize my craftroom by about half.
I just finished my bathroom declutter. Our bathroom actually has virtually NO storage space, so I did my linen closet, which is used for everything. I'm happy to say that I got rid of 47+ items!
I need to have my 2 grown daughters watch this! They have makeup, tools, hair products...you name it! Thank you!
I dont know the regulations in Canada and US, but mortuaries and funeral homes in my country accept expired and used makeup donation. That definitely lessen my guilt with throwing away makeup because the products will be used anyway, so it doesnt feel as much of a waste! Maybe you can ask your local funeral home if something like that can be arranged :)
Ooo!! That's a great advice that I also have never heard before!! Thanks!
oh my gosh, I NEVER thought of that!!! That's brilliant.
I can relate to this with clothes big time. I gained a lot of weight after having my first kid and had to pack away all my clothes that I loved and kept telling myself I would lose the weight soon and wear them again. I held onto them for about 4 years and every time I saw them I felt horrible about myself. The clothes themselves also reminded me of a chapter of my life that I had to accept was over. I wasn’t a carefree college kid anymore. Eventually I handed them down to my sister to go through and I knew she would get rid of most of them because we have different styles and I almost cried when I got rid of them. But it’s nice not having that constant reminder in my face that I’m not skinny or “cool” enough anymore
Yep, decluttering my "past self" is a bitter pill; going from full-on Goth to SEN boy mum >,
Wow, this was an amazing video! It made me feel like a “normal” person knowing that there is other people out there holding on to things because they were expensive and it hurts to throw away because we never use it! I’m just “wowed” thank you I needed to hear this!!
Right now I am just watching this weekly declutter because I actually have to focus on one room of my house right now. However I have been decluttering several things on the list as I go. It gets easier the more you do it. Getting the hubby and kids on board also helps... As soon as my extra room is done and downstairs kids play area, I will definitely go through the declutter list weekly challenge along with you. So grateful for your help and encouragement and suggestions.
Thanks for sharing!!
I gave all my samples to a woman's shelter I have also given them brand new bath and body sets I was given or purchased and never used
I feel like this will be easier for me because I don’t wear makeup and have a small bathroom, but I still can think of some things that need to go!!
Oh brother, you sure stepped on my toes today. Yes, I will do this!
That's me, stepping all over those toes!
You are right...feeling the pain of throwing out what you did will change the way you make purchases in the future!!
This was me yesterday. I was STILL rooting around in moving boxes every day for my hair and makeup stuff after moving in June. I finally got it all sorted, decluttered, and put away. 🤦♀️
Oh my goodness, this is my life! Except it’s still in boxes….
"I feel like this will change my shopping in the future." YES! I did this a few months ago but instead of throwing things out I made myself use them up. (I did not have as much stuff as you did.). WOW! Having to use the things that were not my favorites REALLY makes me think when I am mindlessly walking around the Target beauty area. I don't want to bring more stuff in!
You are not broken. You are perfect just the way you are!
Thank you for being vulnerable, and for the real life declutter. You understand what goes on in our heads, and your vulnerability is so inspiring and enCOURAGEing
When you started talking about the vitamins and supplements and pulled out the fish oil... I hear you on that one. Mine went in the trash as well eventually, since someone convinced me to buy the "chocolate" flavour (and chocolate, it was not). On another side note, vitamins and supplements probably shouldn't go in the bathroom anyways, the humidity can degrade them over time.
My pharmacy is in the kitchen,my bathroom is tiny
Chocolate flavored fish oil?! 🤮 I wish I could take it, but I got a bad headache.
I just trashed my fish oil, too. Used it nightly until pregnancy made it gross, and it went bad in 3 months. Gone. Also, I store vitamins in my kitchen, too. No space in my tiny bathroom
@@sabatham I store mone in the kitchen as well.
I did the same thing ! Never getting chocolate cod liver oil again. Plain tastes better.
I’ve been decluttering lots of stuff by “pulling everything out,” but have been reluctant to apply it to the bathroom vanity because it’s large and I can keep everything. But SHOULD I??? NOPE!! Thanks for the shove in the right direction.
Thank you for this video series. It’s been so helpful. I watch your video first so I know the plan. Then I watch it a second time and follow along with you. I don’t feel as emotional during the second viewing and it’s easier to declutter.
It is so refreshing to see you have a mountain of stuff. I am not alone. Also you have such a funny way of making sense of everything. Thanks
Guilt and shame is real with this stuff. Good call Cas! I give my used towels to a cat rescue near me and they love it :) it helps with the spring explosion of kitties!
From someone who fosters kittens, ty! we can never have enough towels/blankets.
I love your honesty. This mind-set could go for our whole house/life, I'm terrible for "Oh, that's so cute/pretty(fill in the blank) I LOVE it!!"...I buy it because, for those few moments/days/week, of the initial excitement...the depression/overwhelming stress, that it chased away, feels better...fast forward to drowning/suffocating/feeling buried in the WAY too much stuff that makes me feel worse than before I bought that "fix". It's HARD, and I know there are many out there like me, struggling with this (having a physical challenge does NOT help), but I truly do find this type of video inspiring, especially the part about "guilt". Thank you, Cass, for sharing and encouraging us...you really ARE being a great help to many!
Yup, I feel this. Sometimes I buy things as a way just to feel better for a little bit. 😭 Then I feel bad my weakness got the better of me! I've returned quite a few things in the process of trying to break the habit.
You’re not just good enough- you are perfect as you are. Coming from someone who appreciates your honesty, humor and depth. Big big hug!
Big, big hug back!
What you said about hope and failure was a lightbulb moment for me. This is exactly why I find it hard to throw out skincare and makeup that doesn't work for me.
Your description of your skin is exactly me!!!! But you know what, you’re beautiful inside and out Cass and God doesn’t make mistakes, so love yourself the way God made you and take comfort in how much you’ve helped others by being vulnerable!💗
If you use a figure eight to wrap your cords they tend to tangle less. Thank you for your courage to do this with us.
Thanks for another helpful Vid! Many of the things we are decluttering can and should be donated to homeless shelters and shelters for victims of domestic violence. Please for anyone reading this, make a few calls to find an organization to which you can easily donate useful items. Peace ☮️
As soon as I recover from my surgery I plan to do this first to make me feel better. TFS
I sooo need you in my life!! You speak a language that motivates me. The bully concept... YES! That alone makes this easier. Thank you for helping us out here. ❤
I loved how your puppy "love bombed" your video. Your puppy even had a container for his dog toys LOL! Nice unexpected touch! I feel your pain Cass. I downsized my make up & skin care to one drawer. OUT of the bathroom to the bedroom nightstand. I struggle with my bedroom closet.
Me too. That closet. Uhh
The Minimal Mom has a few closet follow along with type videos. I found them to be very useful, and was able to actually weed out the useless clothes that I had.
I don't know why we tend to need permission, to get rid of basically crap.
Can I just say...I LOVE you!! Your honesty and humor is the best!! haha Way to go being ruthless and inspiring us all!
Thank you so much1
I’m quasi rural. Things I can’t really donate or just don’t want to take the time, I put in boxes outside my entrance gate with a free sign. Sooner or later all is taken.
I put out cleaning supplies, an extra mop, microwave, glassware, various kitchen utensils. It goes. Makes me happy that someone else can use whatever I don’t need or want AND the recipient didn’t have to spend money. Makes me smile when I notice something is gone!
Best video and the Kick in the pants I needed !! Hate decluttering the bathroom !
Thank you for saying the things out loud that we all think are fixing and failing. I feel so much better! And my bathroom looks great now!
I can already tell you I have an emotional connection to my massive lonely socks bag. 😂. I'm gonna catch up on laundry, clean my entire house, visit all my friend's and family member's houses and find those missing socks ones day!
I know you said take a week to do this list but I want to do this today. Bootcamp baby!
Whatever you are doing now to "fix your face" is working because you sure look great. Definitely better than any Kardashian. You reflect warmth, light and generosity of spirit. I could feel your struggle and pain and will definitely learn from this as I struggle as I declutter. Love the dog!
Awesome job 👏🏼🙌🏽 I actually did this last week at 11 o’clock at night and my husband was yelling at me, “GO TO BED!!!” I couldn’t help it…it was FREEING!!!! I open my draw and closet now and literally smile 😊
This was perfect timing. I have a lady in the community gathering items for homeless. I really didn't have a lot to purge because I do this frequently. Still managed to fill a small box.
Thank you Cass for your vulnerability and transparency; you’re helping make my life better
It totally broke my heart when you talked about the make up “to fix your face”. You are beautiful!! You deserve to love yourself more and not feel bad about the wrong shades of make up. Hugs from Holland!
When my parents both got ill an moved to assisted living we went thru EVERYTHING in their house. Some Items in the bath cabinet were ancient. I don’t use curling irons or hair dryers an have a cabinet over the toilet to hold most “needed” bath items. Very small shelf next to sink for makeup an a basket to hold toilet paper. Pedestal sink so no under sink storage either. Love the minimalish way my bath is.
You are absolutely beautiful Cas. I learned years ago we all have areas of insecurity in our lives so we sometimes need to ‘step outside ourselves’ and try to see us as others see us. 💝
Love that you just chucked the whole green basket in the bag! Remember to recycle that plastic though Cas!
You have a beautiful face that needs no fixing! 🔥
