idk man to me those bad graphic design 2000's covers have a lot of charm to them
same for 90's pen and pixel shit
I love metal and there's many ways an album's cover can be bad or low effort in there. Best example is Artillery's Terror Squad - the label gave them a budget of $0 for the cover so someone drew it himself
That celestial feeling to Lift to Experience was on point.
Absolute masterpiece
one of the best bands ever best albums ever back to back fuckin bangers
What’s the song
@@FOR_DA_W1Nters Just as was told
@@gabbo1248 Ty big dog
i was not prepared for the music to sound that good
I remember hearing that Childish Gambino wrote/released 3.15.20 around the time his father passed away, so the lack of album art & track names reflected the emptiness of his grief
People when the album cover designed to give off an eerie and uncanny atmosphere gives off an eerie and uncanny atmosphere
you're the outlier here
"The art is effective, so you're not allowed to dislike it!!!!"
@@secretgirlnowyou can dislike it, but to claim it’s bad implies it fails in what it intends to do
@@dogmanbitehurt8243 I disagree.
“No no! the art is supposed to be bad! it’s the art style!!”
Actually, the Chocolate Starfish cover is pretty accurate to how the music sounds. it might not even be the worst thing about that album lmao
oh god lmao
Its the best and by far most successfull limp bizkit album and i would even say it made them immortal, especially in the nu-rap/metal scene @@blustre
whattt i love that album
you're gay@@mothyclothy849
I actually like the album cover because it makes me feel so uncomfortable. The tracks are also fun. Not something I can listen to regularly, but it works well on days where you just want to smash shit up while shutting down your brain. Speaks to the caveman in me.
I think nevermind is at the point where its too iconic to really be ruined really, yea it can be taken in a weird way but that’s only if you make it I think it has a nice summer vibe to it because of the water? I think the album might not be as memorable without it though, great video!
Yea it’s so iconic that it just can’t be ruined by a cover
The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads cover was so interesting and weird that it made you listen to the album. It did its job and you came out of it with a positive experience, and honestly it makes me want to listen to it too. Good cover for sure.
it is one of the most amazing concept albums ever, it is my personal favorite album of all time, highly recommend
I would personally avoid listening to the music bc of that horrendous album *cover lol

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN! INTRODUCING, THE CHOCOLATE STARFISH! AND THE HOT DOG FLAVOURED WATERRRR
who's in the house??
Please don't introduce him
boom bwana boo bwaawawaa boo bwana buh bwunna
🍫 🌟 🐟
I honestly love the Homogenic album cover and I think it fits songs like Hunter and Pluto perfectly. Even though I disagree with your take, I really enjoy this video!
Idk, to me it looks like it was inspired by Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring”
Key lyric “the USA is the centre of Jerusalem” heheh, one of the best albums I’ve ever heard though, imagine shoegaze but played by big hearted Texans with great songwriting chops
The USA is the center of JerUSAlam. It’s almost too perfect
now you gotta do bad albums with great cover art
omg yess
already working on it 😎
Texas Jerusalem crossroads is the greatest album of all time.
we should be best friends
Indeed, listened to it the first time I tried weed, changed my life
the funny thing is that this isn't even a bad take
found you through tiktok, instantly went to your channel to watch more
will never have this problem as a King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard fan 🔥🔥
I feel like the case with any goregrind or gorenoise album (yes those are genres) or really even a lot of grindcore its impossible to recommend anyone anything because the covers have actual gore on them
On the back of Nirvana, I would say Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy. It’s actually my favourite album of theirs but definitely tainted by the naked children on the cover…
YOO my 3.15.20 suggestion made it 🎉 I love gambino and I love that album, but the lack of cover art and titles are a big detriment to what could otherwise have been a big release for him. On the anniversary of the album, he teased a rerelease with cover art, titles and everything, so hopefully that drops soon. The track titles in the current version are just the time stamp where it starts in the album, and, with time being a major concept of the album, I can kinda understand the thought process. Love the little cutaway gag. Always a fan of the content, keep fighting the good fight against genrephobia o7
Came from tiktok, loved this video. I was hoping to see Gobs’ “Foot in Mouth Disease” album cover here though “The Grudge” is the only song I know from them; great song, disturbing album cover. Anyways I’m off to binge watch some more of your vids!
god im gonna kiss you exactly the lift to experience cover is actually beautiful. not to flex but i have the original 2003 version with the original cover and also the original recordings some of the songs were re recorderd for the newest version i think, and the 2CD packaging and original cover only enhances the experience.
fun fact: the baby in that nirvana cover was trying to sue the band at one point because of the cover. like he or his family didnt consent to it 💀💀
I love how every single nirvana fan mentions this when nevermind comes up
He also has recreated it multiple times and has it tattooed on his chest
I just recently listened to The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads and I'm lowkey obsessed
Are you planning to do a different album video? Maybe best covers, just generally worst covers or even opposite of this, bad albums with great covers?
planning on doing bad albums with great covers next!
@@blustrebetter see that FAKE SWING album in that video
I lay awake at night imagining the boardroom that saw the Certified Lover Boy cover sayin “That’s the one”
Also Malibu Ken till I die!
(Thank you for the kind words and W video)
an album cover so bad i almost respect it
chocolate starfish and the hotdog flavored water is such a good album thooo
came from tiktok bc i was so engaged cool stuff!! i almost never actually finish the videos that i see clips of so i hope you feel special and loved and cool and awesome
Love your channel bro, really underrated ❤
appreciate it!
texas jerusalem crossroads its my favorite album of all time i didnt think id ever see anyone talk about it
brooo its crazy how much it fell into obscurity, if they wouldnt have made the remastered version somewhere in 2010s 90% of new people wouldnt even know about this band, all the og fans are probably over 40 now
The Lift to Experience part was soooo accurate. It looks sort of horrendous, but when u listen to it, it totally makes sense and then u love it
You and a bucket of Jake are great youtubers
NLDW is an actually amazing album cover, depicts everything the album talks about and even matches how they released it
Not to mention the pics pretty good, especially by dick pic standards lmao
No lift to experience’s album cover is funny, it’s like you don’t expect it to be a post rock album and it is
honestly the donda black square feels perfect to me
its such a vulnerable album with a lot of dark subject matter, and the music is beautiful enough to make up for the lack of a cover
idrk how to describe it the black just fits
I remember looking through my dads CD racks as a kid and finding that nirvana one and being like :OO
I want a part two, thank you
working on the opposite for the next vid! (bad albums with good covers)
Came from tik tok keep up the good work man
thanks! will do
you should do a second video of this series this was mad fun to watch@@blustre
my contribution to this talk is American Doll Posse by Tori Amos. i thought this would be her worst album just by looking at the cover art, it took me two years to finally give it a listen and the album is so good it deserved a much MUCH better cover art. as a graphic designer i feel like i might redesign that cover art one day just so i can finally relax
björks album critique was so left field. many of these including the malibu ken one like right after really have the same hard to look at visuals.
The most horrendous cover that I have ever seen is The man who sold the world by Bowie; the original one is amazing, mind you, but the American release completely redone the art and it is total cat-vomit. Made me miss out on buying the vinyl...
Bro ur videos are so good
thank you :)
Homogenic isn't even the most uncomfy Bjork cover! I cannot stand to look at Volta's cover for too long.
i am NOT accepting homogenic cover slander. some of the best creative design i've seen
Turnabout - Cutter Lane & Sematary - Butcher House. the covers are so goofy but i love them and the albums in general. the covers actually fit the albums pretty well
i love the lift to experience album sm
Thank you for reminding me of tobacco, such good music
Dang now I gotta listen to Lift to Experience
your fit is absolutely the hardest thing ever B)
road to ruin - ramones
Wild that Bloodhound gang didn't make this list. Always hated Hefty fine. So embarrassing borrowing it from the library as a teen 💀
i remember problem solvers bruv. You remember Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, though?
yeahhh another great one
There was some jazz band like “the black dogs” or something like that that the album cover and logo are was so dark and gothic with skulls and stuff but I was so disappointed that none of that connected to metal 😂
The Viscera Infest cover with the cyclopean baby. Like yeah I get its goregrind, It just freaks me out in a way a lot of other goregrind album covers don’t. Maybe that’s a good thing? Dunno
ok now I wanna see good album covers from bad albums
8:22 that’s exactly what the album is, and it’s amazing
Do part 2!
just wait till bro sees mr. bungle and they’re self titled album
That 3.15.20 skit made me laugh
but here we are by the foo fighters good album but the cover is basically blank
I still love pet sounds, but that album cover does not do it justice
I think not listening to limp bizkit's album isn't working, cus there is no way that someone doesn't heard rollin or my way in theirs life
That 2003 David Bowie album FOR SURE
was totally waiting for atlanta millionaires club by faye webster. i think it’s universally agreed upon as just horrible to look at 😭
"Some Are Lakes" by Land of Talk is the definition of a good album with a bad album cover. It's one of the best alternative rock records I've ever heard, but the cover looks like a little kid's drawing.
if the chumbawamba tubthumping baby isnt on here i riot. that shit was in my nightmares as a kid
disappointed
the black square is perfect for donda
Fun fact: The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads is the top ranked Christian rock album on Rateyourmusic
It's not even Christian Rock, at least in the sense in that it's about praising God or whatever. It's a concept album about the second coming of Jesus, and the sound can be described to being closer to My Bloody Valentine than either Newsboys or Jars of Clay.
I hear some people say the bends but the albums good enough
The Malibu Ken style is really popular with Australian skate and stoner rock, (and collectively in aus culture in general idk why) but it really works for them. Like skeggs and Dune Rats.
but maybe it's because we have a cultural attachment to it with old home-made youtube cartoons and graffiti that it's associated with those "bogan" types and works for them. People from outside the country might feel differently unless they've seen stuff like Damo and Darren
Part 2 !!
Scorpions-Virgin Killer and Metal Church-Hanging in the Balance are my go-to good albums with terrible covers.
For me, its "Abort" by Tribe. Its one of my favourite albums at the moment. It's album art is not the worst, but its kinda weird
Nirvana's Nevermind album cover is the very definition of iconic, it just fits the vibe ya know?
Monster Magnet: Powertrip. Goated af and timeless music, but that album cover looks like something out of Team America. Some goes for 90% of Power Metal albums
4:07 thought you had the 3.15.20 cover on the screen already
i would personally add aphex twins "...i care because you do" to the list. i just cannot look at that album cover, it makes me feel major discomfort. but that was probably the point so lol
Absolutely Windowlicker by Aphex Twin
Definitely "What Do you Think About the Car?" By Declan McKenna. I hate this cover but damn this album slaps.
NLDW is like a top 5 cover of the 2010s fym?
Childish gambino released a new album of the finished version of the white album the dates on the songs were songs he made that were demos
I'm pretty sure the story behind Nirvana's "nevermind" album cover was that they thought it was funny 😭
Pretty funny because The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads is one of the best albums oat
you are so fucking right
the homogenic slander is crazy 😩😩
My problem with the nirvana cover isn't the cover itself but the story behind it
year of the snitch has my favorite album cover of all time tbh
I think Shooting Star's debut qualifies.
"Shit yourself" by Natillumi is one. The name kinda ruins it too, but you know. (do NOT look at my name i did NOT make this album i SWEAR TO GOD)
Very good video by the way, i like it :)
Honestly having a date as a title isn’t a problem (though the song names and cover are egregious) take example 98.12.28 by the fishmans. i think having a date as that title fits more than literally anything else and it encapsulates the music
personally my pick for good albums with bad covers would be kikuoworld (by kikuo obv), it'd be my absolute favourite album if nyot for the fact that fun escape from the human flesh forest is on it but if you asked me about album covers that are just awful and bad to look at it'd be the first thing i'd bring up. why does it look like that. it isn't even a problem with most of kikuo's stuff too, the kikuomiku albums have some of my favourite cover art EVER (kikuomiku4 in particular is my absolute favourite cover). maybe it's because si_ku wasn't the artist for it (she's ABSOLUTELY one of the best vocaloid mv/album artists imo). idk.
I really don't see what's wrong with Homogenic, I really like it
just found out about this channel I hope this guy is not genrephobic
Chocolate starfish is unironically probably in my top 10 albums of all time
How if lift to experience a guilty pleasure? I like the album, I've never felt "guilty" about it
it’s really just comes down to the question on wether everything can be art or not. like the whole deep and questionable design options does not fit most of these albums because they just try to be edgy and are actually pretty basic in my opinion. Like a white scuare or a void makes u think but then u hear the album and it’s mainstream af like imagine the waste of a basic idea. however the starfish chocolate is just trying to be metal while it’s not even linkon park like i think it’s more acceptable for a metal album to be pure chaos and a bit disgusting. But ngl the covers interest me and it’s a shame this is the music behind it
I feel extremely old everytime I hear a younger person/zoomer say they've never heard of Limp Bizkit or any other big nu metal band back in the early 2000s.
Malibu Ken gives me M.A.D vibes and I love it
Mayhem original album cover the dawn of the black hearts are really beutifoul
okay so this is how I find out drakes sitting on the building??
donda is amazing
really liked it when it came out but i just never find myself wanting to revisit
@@blustre happens you don’t always gotta replay the albums you love constantly
You not listening to limp bizkits best album is a crime
that album covers a crime
@@blustre its tough and all but you not listening breaks my fanboy heart 😭
Mayhem -dawn of the black hearts
I never understood why so many artists including the Beatles and the Stones released albums with nothing on the covers except words. That's boring.
