I’m really loving the tierlist videos. Normally I really think that they’re quite boring from other CZcamsrs that I like, but I think the unique chemistry between you two and the fact that it’s actually a topic that I care about makes this both unique and better. another thing abt the jpegmafia covers that i love that yall didn't mention is how the mouse from his computer is just kinda chillin in the middle of the pic, it's simple but i think it adds a lot to each of his covers. last night dignan left me a voicemail chanting and screaming how he wanted nothing more than to deafen me.

The 'Dawn FM' cover is also a play on 'The Picture Of Dorian Gray' which is about a man (Dorian Gray) who gets a self-portrait of himself. He lives on with his life, living in sin and immorally (like 'After Hours' Abel). During these years the painting slowly and gradually turns more and more ugly, whilst Dorian Gray the person stays young and beautiful. Dorian becomes upset when he sees what his painting has become and decides to destroy it. Afterwards he is found dead, old and ugly, just like the painting, but the painting has now been restored to its original beauty.
Dawn FM is about Abel having to come to terms with the life he (or his character) has lived. In the end, The Weeknd had it all coming for him.
This is also portrayed well in the Gasoline video, with young Abel killing the old Abel.
All of this makes the album cover even more of an S, although I understand you guys judged it from a design stand point.

@@wyattgreene8229 I don't know, I've always felt like that matches the music of the album to me personally. It feels very uniform, like a landscape, less about contrast than about painting a picture (if you'll excuse the pun), and the music of the album also feels like that to me.
@@cpilling51 Exactly, like they've never done lsd or dmt and it shows lmao, the cover is clearly inspired by hallucinating abstract landscapes and objects. Very reminesent of closed eye visuals during one of my trips.
The eyeball is from the company Neversoft. variations of it was in the beginning of many of the tony hawks games

once again, Riley and Graydon are especially gifted at articulating their feelings toward their interests, I would like to see a separate channel made exclusively for just numerous album reviews and album cover critiques. I will never get sick of these guys. Especially their tier list videos. Their in depth descriptions of why they like or dislike an album cover is what keeps me coming back to this channel. I have a feeling the MGK cover is a marketing thing, you can’t convince me somebody looked at that and said “yeah! That’s art!” Without something else behind the scenes

42:10 as someone from the valley, i thought id add my 2 cents. I don't think it's from a plane, as theres mountains all around and even in the phoenix area (whenever i go on hikes i get the exact same views as the cover), so i believe this is meant to be taken from the top of a mountain. The guy looks like hes collapsing, maybe from dehydration (which would explain the sun/heat wave feel) even though he is so close to civilization. idk what that symbolizes but ya thats what i think. i also think i should be past the statute of limitations for that "grand larson" i didn't commit back in 2001. They say its 20 years now, but back then it was 30. I'm too scared to ask my lawyer so idk what to do. liked and subbed.
That new MGK album is by far one of the worst album covers I’ve seen; it’s genuinely terrible and I hate looking at it. There are three unmarked graves in my backyard.

not alot of youtube channels have videos that are infinitely replayable, these guys absolutely mastered youtube content creation. all of their videos can be watched over and over and over again and they will never get old

Sadness - "I want to be there" is my favorite album cover. It's ambient depressive black metal and the pink sunset-y colors mixed with the defeated posture of the person on the front just perfectly captures the emotional heartbreak vibe that I get from the album

I’m not a huge fan of porter Robinson’s type of music but the way he incorporates visual art into his music is phenomenal. I went to a concert recently with a friend of mine who loves him and visually everything was pretty perfect, I was super impressed

For a suggestion I would say Midnight by Set It Off. It's so aesthetic and captures the feel of the album perfectly. It also references one of the songs, Hourglass, with sand. The hands have 12 fingers, there's a digital 12:00, 'midnight' written in the back to reference the title. I think it's so beautiful and I love the little details.

even though i have a similar opinion on the MOTM cover, I feel like the effort and concept of the cover deserves it way more than a D. It should be a C at worst, but it was cool fs.
For the Kid Cudi album, I feel like there could have been more contrast, maybe keeping the warmer tones on one side or something so that the whole piece doesn't feel so one note. I really like the artistry and I'm not saying I could do better. It'd be cool to see this piece done a few different ways to hopefully get an end result that doesn't feel slightly off
