đ ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time CZcamsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. I hope you enjoy my channel and if you do, please don't forget to SUBSCRIBE & leave me a comment!
Jen Phelps is seriously the best makeup youtuber and CRIMINALLY underrated. Everything about her vibe and content are top quality. I learn so much. Love your channel so much Jen!đ
I agree, this was a fun and helpful video and she looked stunning with the whole look!
Right?? Agreed!
These are some cool tips !! No I havenât tried them but I must say they look beautiful on you. I definitely will try these. Thanks so much Jen. What a fun video đđđ
So very true!! â€đ«
Yes! So glad I recently found her channel!
I get soooooo upset when you share that you get nasty comments about your technique, hair, whatever! You are one of THE most down to earth people on here and I just donât understand those who feel better cutting others down. I learn so much from you. You keep being you!
Oh and I loved your eyeshadow from your most recent dupes video!
Thanks Christine!! đ„°
Samezees. Wth is wrong with people!!! I adore everything about Jen ⊠down to earth, NOT a makeup artist (ie sheâs like her audience), light handed aesthetic that I prefer (sorry I donât need nor want 50 freaking products on my face), and authentic reviews.
You look different, more lifted and, dare I say, younger.
Jen,you are certainly a kind person and have never been rude or insensitive to your audience. The other thing that totally makes you so very likable is that you never flaunt how much you bought for yourself, which is just rude!My girlfriends and I absolutely adore your videos and you!Thank you for everything.
You look amazing! I love the foundation hack.. Iâm older and no matter what foundation I use, it looks slightly cakey. This is a game changer. And your lips donât look too pouty. Just fuller. I love your videosâŠyou are so helpful and willing to the new things!
Have you ever tried a damp sponge? I'm older also and with dry skin, and I find my makeup only seems to really go on dewy and flawless without being cakey when I use a damp sponge. My dry skin can't handle the abrasion needed to get a brush effect to not be streaky.
@@consciouscrypto3090same here, dry way older skin and a brush just causes my skin too flake, damp sponge works the best.
Add moisturizer and see if that helps! Or a really good balm foundation like the loreal one. I hate looking like I have makeup on, both of those work for me.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the eyeshadow technique! I feel the â3 layer lookâ - light lid, darker crease, lightest brow one - is now a very dated eyeshadow method and appearance. Especially on hooded eyes! My eyes are hooded and my actual eyelid is very small/thin; with light colors applied there it looks stupid on me! Why am I focusing attention on this very tiny area of my eye rather than my eye color, my lashes, etc?? The technique you tried today looks very effortless, new and complements the entire eye look. Gorgeous!
Right?! That old technique needs to stay on the back of a dusty CoverGirl quad where it belongs. đ€ (ed. clarity)
I canât wait to try it too!
Yes, certainly no rules. Where that theory comes from is because in the past powder brushes were made of natural hair and concealer and foundation brushes were made from synthetic hair. The natural hair absorbed a ton of product so it would just be incredibly wasteful. Not almost all brushes are synthetic. The BK line is all synthetic (love them btw) so using any of those brushes with liquids or cream would be fine and not waste a bunch of product.
You could also spray setting spray on a beauty blender to keep it from creasing as well.
I love this video! Please do more! I donât go on TikTok so I appreciate youâve taken the time to find these tips and try them out in a longer format video!đ
I am over 60 and watch your channel always to learn new hacks and love your dupes.
Love that your going out of your comfort zone to try fun new techniques! Thank you for always posting awesome quality videos! The foundation brush is definitely a new one Iâm going to try! â€â€ïžđ
The eye shadow hacks made your eyes look bigger and brighter. Very pretty everything turned out.
Hey Jen! I love how you're trying these different methods for applying makeup. I don't see anyone putting on mascara the way I do: I start with a coat on the top side of my lash tips, with my eyes closed. Then I open my eyes and do the underside of my top lashes, starting as close to the lashline as possible. No mascara at all on my bottom lashes, they're too short and fine. I use a non-waterproof, non-tubing formula mascara with a small, short-bristled, silicone rubber type of brush. No curling; my lashes are too fine and my lids are so hooded, I can't fit a regular curler in the eye socket and I end up pinching them. Instead, I use a Q-tip stem with all the cotton pulled off, held horizontally as a rod that I push my lashes up with just a little bit to curl them after I apply the mascara, when it's still halfway wet. I blow on them or use a handheld fan to finish drying them while I'm holding the Q-tip stem in place. It's awkward at first, but I've been doing it this way for many years. I actually look like I have decent lashes without doing any of the no-nos on my opthamologist's list for rosacea with ocular affect. I so enjoyed this video today, and will be playing around with different brushes for applying my tinted sunscreen; I'm currently using my fingers and it can get pretty messy as the formulas are rather thick. I tell myself that I'm smoothing everything out with the light dusting of translucent or mineral powder I apply over top of the sunscreen with a brush, but there's always room for improvement, yes? Thanks!
I have the same issue with lash curlers!! Althohgh I have found a great pair that are less than half the size of a regular pair of lash curlers. They're by Shu uemera. I can use them effectively, on my better lash days, without pinching myself;)
That eye look is fabulous on you! One thing I've learned is that if you have a prominent brow bone and hooded eyes, bring the transition color slightly higher so it visually flattens the area. These are great hacks - thanks for sharing Jen!!
Your videos just keep getting better and better! Your brows and eyes look outstanding in this video and I'm really loving the lighter hair color...Keep up the great work!
Iâm always amazed at the way a lot of CZcamsrs complain about clumpy mascara. I have blessedly beautiful long thick eyelashes even at 75 , so I donât have too much of a problem putting the mascara on or getting an effect however they do get clumpy. First of all I always curl my mascara and I donât see a lot of people doing that, but I have for years used a lash comb. The best lash comb Iâve ever used is Rubligo lash comb. It used to be sold in CVS however I just get it online now. Itâs in a little burgundy case and the top comes off the comb and you put it back on to keep it clean. In addition I keep a clean spoolie that I use to smooth out and separate my lashes when I put mascara on
I enjoyed watching you try these âhacksâ. Your eye makeup looked so nice and much different from your norm. Definitely made your eye looks bigger. Practice makes perfect especially with makeup. More practice with the brows but overall you looked more polished than usual. Always like to watch your content. Keep up the good work!
I watched this video before going to sleep last night and tried a couple of these hacks before going to work this morning (UK time). The fluffy brush ones worked so well! Also, the setting spray for under eyes was great too. My concealer still did crease like it always does in my expression lines, but otherwise it lasted waaaay longer than when I set with powder. Thanks so much for the tips! Iâve been a fan of yours for a while but since you stopped doing sponsored content I feel like your videos have such a relaxed and happy quality to them. Like many others have commented, I think itâs despicable you have to deal with hate comments: you are much loved and appreciated here on the inter webs!
Try using a matte bone color after you're done with the eyeshadow to help the blend and blur the edge of your eyeshadow. Kinda like your highlighting your brow bone but not with a brighter color like a skin tone match. It will make the blend look more seamless. Also I have the same issue and sometimes it's just how the light and shadow is hitting that spot so it really is blended but doesn't always look it. I've come to the point where unless it's a crazy harsh line I'm good. No one ever looked at me and said your eyeshadow isn't blended perfectly at the edge irl. Lol
I love how much thought and time you put into making your videos so interesting and unique! Many thanks for your passion and going to try the brows and lips first !
Iâve tried setting my concealer or face with just setting spray instead of powder but it always lifts up or removes the complexion products. I try tapping gently and making sure itâs not too wet but it still happens.
I put on my foundation and concealer today with fluffy brushes that I wouldn't normally use and was SHOCKED at how great it looked.
Yay!! I'm so glad it worked for you too!
I really like how your eye makeup turned out with this technique, Jen đ. One thing you could try to help with blending is to dust some translucent powder onto your brow bone before you start applying eyeshadow. It makes the surface a little more slippery so that the pigment blends more easily.
I think that the eyeshadow technique worked very well and you should keep putting it up higher. When you did your first brow, I couldnât believe how lifted your eye looked. Thanks for the great video.
This is one of my favorite videos youâve done! Your makeup looks gorgeous and I love the way you did your eyes. I canât wait to try some of these hacks!
I'm here for this type of video! I will be trying every. single. one. of these tips! I think changing up techniques can be really fun and can inspire us to be more creative with our makeup. The finished look is really beautiful too!
I have hooded eyelids as well and I love this technique. I tried this and it does pop your eyes! Thank you for all of you tips, techniques and dupes that you do! Love your channel!
The lip liner+highlighter technique gives more of a sculpted look rather than a blush, cool tipđ
I jumped right in to trying the foundation and concealer hacks. Loving the results. Applying setting spray after concealer really made a huge difference. Also tried the mascara hack. Loved that too but need a bit more practice. The creator who shared that also shared a hack on how to get that effortless French girl blotted red lip. Worked great as well.
The higher eye shadow looks SOOO great on you! I do not like it when MOST people over-line lips. Most of the time it looks dumb đ
Your eyes look even more beautiful!!!! The eyeshadow technique really works for you.
Your makeup looks more chic!!! I'm kind of shocked at the difference and loving it!
It's a beautiful, natural look!
Much more youthful eye look, jen.. i love it!
I seriously think this is the most beautiful youâve ever looked! Thanks for compiling these tips!!!
Your makeup looks good! Great tips.
End results look great, especially the eyeshadow and brows. Thanks for showing us these techniques.
Higher placed eyeshadow is the way to go for you. Definitely.
Who could possibly leave you mean comments?? You are the best! Love these new ideas!
Yes yes yes to the way you did your eyes today! I love how the shadow looks higher than you usually wear it. I have the same issue with my brow bone jutting out. I try to blend it best as I can
These were great hacks! Simple, easy and didn't require you to buy anything you didn't already have.
Jen, all the make up hacks and the way you applied them on yourself looked gorgeous! I have to say I am especially impressed with your eyes, they are stunning! I have hooded eyes as well and can't wait to try it. The eyebrow hack was great too! Another great video and YES would love to see more.
That eyeshadow looks great on you. With no shade intended ( pun intended đ). it looks more blended then your usual look. And it also looks more complete.
I really like the way your eyeshadow turned out. Looks great on you!
I have never had any comfort zone- my whole life has been extremes and loaded with fun in makeup âșïž
I've had hooded eyes all my life so I've always had to create my own crease. You can totally put your crease shade higher without having to go all the way up to your brow bone. I don't personally like the way shadow looks on my brow bone. Just place it where you would like your crease to be and do the rest of your look as normal. đ
Wow I can't believe how well all these hacks turned out on you! I think your eye makeup looks amazing and doesn't look unblended at all.
Beautiful look Jen! Thank you for sharing with us.
Hi jen, stunning look, your hair looks great too!!. X
Love the higher eye shadow on you. It's something that I plan to try.
You should definitely do your eyeshadow like this. Opens up your eyes more
Your eye look is more sultry than usual. I love thatâ€
Thank you for sharing these hacks. I will try some of them today!
I really like how the eyeshadow blended higher looks nice on you. I do it to create depth because I don't have a lot of lid space.
Eye shadow looks great. Really brings out the color of your eyes
I tried Julia Adam's trick of mixing the Elf Halo Glow with your cream blush. Gives such a beautiful glow to your cheeks.
Definitely put the eyeshadow up higher! It makes a big difference! I noticed on myself as well. Go a little higher than you think you should, then blend with a light skin color shadow or powder. I sometimes even add another transition type color that's lighter than the crease color and blend back and forth til I like it. It works great!
You are one of the very few beauty channels I bother to watch and I look forward to your content so much Jen. Love the final look and your hair is great!đ
Your eyeshadow looks so much better.
I am amazed at how beautiful this look is on you! All of the hacks have merit. I am going to try all of them today. I love the eyeshadow and lips. I think you look amazing.
JEN!!âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž OMG!! You look so fresh, clean & freakin FABULOUS!! I do mean EXTRA!!đđđđ Wow! These are great tips & tricks & and even though you're much younger than me, I'm trying these ASAP!! đđ©·đđ©·đ And your new hair looks so beautiful!!â€ïžđđđ„°đđđ«¶
This look is GORGEOUS! You look absolutely stunning Jen â€ïž
Thatâs my favorite eyeshadow look on you ever I love it!!!!
The eyeshadow tip and liner looks so good and lifts the eyes!! Keep at it! Thanks for sharing tips
I have the same issue with the browbone trying to blend shadows higher on my lid. I have hooded eyes now due to age, and I quit wearing eyeshadow for a long time because it just never looked right since I was applying it like I did when I was younger. I call that little area that juts out my 'fat pad', and I use a dabbing motion to get my transition color there. I also use a darker tone as well (not like a crease color, but a darker, more mid-toned transition color). It shadows the area and makes it recede making all the difference in my look. Maybe using a slightly darker color and a dabbing motion to that area might help you get used to applying shadow there. :) This was a super fun video to watch!!!
I have the same issue with my brow bone and my eyelid. Sometimes using a skin toned shade to blend the edges by the bone helps me.
I would definitely start wearing your eyeshadow higher all the time. It really helps my eye looks with hooded eyes đ
I have the brown bone as well I buses a matte off white and start blending from the transition shade up to under the brow.
Beautiful!! Love your eyes the best! Now you can see all of your eyeshadow color with your eyes open with that technique.đ
đ·đ·đ·It looks great Jen! Thanks for sharing đ·đ·đ·
This eyeshadow technique really opened your eyes up. It looks great!
Omg I forgot I used to set my concealer like that with setting spray! Itâs been years but I remember liking it. Iâm going to give it a go, especially with that NYX concealer because it creases a lot on me, too.
I love the eyeshadow application.. it looks amazing!
I love Katia.. she is gorgeous and I love her content..
I noticed that when you were applying the mascara, you did turn the wand but you did not blink since you top lid did not close as she did. Not sure if that is part of the reason the mascara clumped more. BTW, I tried to use my ulta tinted brow gel (that was too dark for my brow) as my mascara since i have very fine asian lashes and prefer a very natural look. The brush was perfectly sized for my eyes and did not make a mess on my lid. It gave m e a very defined natural look as if I donât have mascara on, a ture no-makeup make up look.
I have wanted to try that but have sensitive eyes
@@rosegiordano9879 i actually have very sensitive eyes and tears with alot of skincare products including mascaras and even physical sunscreens but did not have any issues with this brow gel on my eyelash. But i did use Dr fixer mascara primer before applying this brow gel (or any other mascara). But that is typical for me to keep my straight lash stay curled.
I didn't want to close it all the way because the wand was about to get mascara on my lid as I was closing it. It's just the mascara...it's very wet and clumpy. I tried the technique the same way with another mascara and it was fine. :)
I love the eye look, even the mascara!! So pretty. Thanks for trying all these out. I am def trying them.
Some TikTok hacks are not the best, but those were really fun! You did really well with all of them đ
I tried to pick the ones that weren't ridiculous, haha!
You are so innovative, and yes I got a lot from this video. Thank youâ€
Aw I'm so glad! Thank you Gloria!
Great tips , beautiful results, the mascara tip really made your lashes pop, beautiful
Love the eyeshadow. Your eyes look so big! And the lipliner trick was fun.
I always do my eyeliner from the lower lashline since I have hooded eyes. Gives me more room to get a winged looked without interfering with the fold. My only way of doing eyeliner
Jen this was such a fun idea! I would love to see you try out more of these with us in the future!!!
This was FUN. Love all the eye techniques (brows, shadow and mascara, concealer and then setting spray). Liked the foundation tip too. Thanks, Jen. Blessings!
This eyeshadow hack looks really amazing on you. I will definitely try this. And the one with the mascara.
That eyeshadow technique is beautiful on you!
I canât wait to try that concealer hack- and the eyebrow one too! I agree with you that there really are no makeup rules.. do what works for you!
I find the older I get, the better results I have using a fluffy brush to apply foundation...doesn't matter if it's powder or liquid. The key is to apply it like powder....don't stipple. Definitely want to try the lip liner/highlighter hack. Your makeup came out great!
Jen, your new haircut/color looks beautiful! đ After I apply mascara I usually use a little mascara comb to get rid of any clumps. Happy New Year! đ„đ„łđ
Fantastic tips!!!! Thank you. I love love love the eyeshadow/liner!
I loved all of these techniques! I have deep set eyes I canât wait to try the eye shadow techniques. I am trying all of these and the lip technique looks great!
I love how the eyeshadow look came out. Love it!! Some many great tips. Can't wait to try them all.
I put my transition color high on my brow bone where I want it to recede. I have deep set eyes and a prominent brow bone. Kind of a contouring concept for the eyes.
Great video. I bought the Doll10 pallet on your recommendation, and it is definitely one of my favorites!
That roll technique with the mascara was definitely the mascara and not you Jen. I have done my lashes that way for years. Youâll love it! You did a great job and look fantastic! Love your videos and appreciate all the time you spend working on them. You have such a charming personality and are beautiful through and through!đ
I always use an eyeshadow brush to apply concealer, but never set it with setting spray before. Will definitely give that a try. I actually put concealer on under my foundation if I'm wearing foundation at all. Sometimes I only use a little concealer on a few spots.
I normally do the overlining of lips on at the cupid's bow. This is an interesting approach to doing the lower lip some too. Will also give that a try, though I like my current results well enough.
The one I can't wait to try is the lipliner and highlighter blush! I love that idea and your final effect. Thanks for this!
Jen, I love how ROUND your eyeshadow made your eyes look in this video!!! I have really hooded eyes and just about zero space between my brow and my actual eyeball, so my attempts at making my eyes look round always seem to fail đ I tend to focus on adding very dark, smoky, inky color on the very outer corner of my eye, verging onto my temple; I am in my very early twenties and very brave (maybe very stupid). I also tend to do this with lighter, more neutral eyeshadow, and it always makes my eyes look very long and cat-like-but I want to enhance the natural roundness of my features and Iâm just so affectionately jealous of your technique there!! I wish I had the eyelid space to do that myself, but, alas đđđ» I do really think it helped to draw attention away from your hooded lids and more towards your eyeBALLS, if that makes any sense whatsoever-and I didnât realize that I ALSO wish you would bring your eyeshadow up more until you said it đđ You always do such pretty eyeshadow looks, but I feel like I can never see them after youâre done because theyâre in such a small space!! Iâm excited to see what techniques you take from this video and introduce into your regular routine; no pressure on the eyeshadow though lol đ
Thanks for this video! The eyeshadow technique looks amazing on you! Keep going with the higher crease colour.
i like how you tried these trends but in your way. the final look still looks like you. great video!!
I absolutely adore how your eyeshadow turned out!!!
This was a super fun video to watch. I think we all get into ruts. Thank you for showing us all of these hacks.
Great video thanks đ I think with the mascara trick you need to use a natural brush not the silicone one. I tried it itâs great!
The foundation one is interesting! I always use my elf complexion duo brush but I might have to try a fluffier one especially since Iâm not a full coverage girlie myself đ
This makeup looked fabulous on you, stick with it. Your new hair color looks great too
Thanks Jen! I will be experimenting with my makeup during the week.
