    As a guard player I constantly end up getting into late game by making a fortress that's almost impossible to break, twice now I've had games go on with a siege on my base having not scratched the frontline within an hour, but I always lose because I don't actually assault anyone

    Never could understand why everyone advises SM for new players. I mean already in low-med skill games it is not enough to just swarm your space marines:you need to micro your scouts, make skull probes, sm is one of the races with a vast amount of build orders. Additionally, most players play in team games on such maps as Mortalic, Alvarus e. t. c where sm is not the best option available, whereas "hard" tau needs to just keep sitting on his base spamming fw and adding then some vehicle backup. Yea, in 1-1 the opponents may harrass them where they are not rdy, but it doesn't work so well in team games where the overwhelming majority of players is.

      With the Ultra Smurfs being the face of Games Workshop whenever I introduce new friends IRL to Dawn of War they lock in SM so fast and want to field hordes of SM ASAP. I agree with you SM early game is very tough especially if you lose scouts and micro/macro incorrectly. Yes the builds offer a lot of freedom but most peoples games dont last longer then 10 mins as the online community can be very rough. If I had the time right now their would be a guide to Every races basic things to look for and build to. Best I can do is introduce the race and how they work in the system relic gave to us. Dont even get me started on the communities love for the same 3 maps over and over again LOL. Anyway Im rambling a little, thank you for the feedback I do agree tau or orks would be better first race to teach new players. The time is coming for a big OLE WAGGGGHH in the future : D

    Do you have a replay where DE actually managed to win the late game against a standard strong race like Space Marines or Imperial Guard? I love DE, but I hate the fact that the only way for them to shine in this game is to cheese.

So, I am also new to rts genre so I am at a huge disadvantage lol what do you recommend I should focus first on original DOW I am getting my butt kicked in campaign lol is it basically spend on scout and space marine units go around getting control points. Can you keep upgrading squad increases each barracks you put up lol sorry so many questions. Sorry, I got lazy and stopped using grammar, I guess lmao

    • @dowstronghold4417
      @dowstronghold4417  Před rokem

      For the Space Marines you should be able to increase squad capacity in the HQ with an upgrade (unsure if its in the original game) But yeah get Space Marines and upgrade the HQ to unlock more buildings. That way you get stronger units.

  • @indrickboreale7381
    @indrickboreale7381 Před 2 lety

    In my opinion Orks are the best lategame base faction, even stronger than Necrons in this case:
    1. no cap for turrets, most of factions only have 6 for every HQ when you can build 8 of Waaagh! Banner for every listening post. There is never enough dakka
    2. a lot of researches that boost their armies
    3. free Slagga Boyz after a research, covering the map in Slaggas can make securing the map trivial. When you rush all of them at the enemy forces you can switch some Slagga units to shooting stance for better damage output (if all of Slaggas are set to attack in meele they constantly block each other). Keep in mind that Chaos Sorcerer and Dark Eldar Soulstorm counter them hard so sometimes it is better to go Nobz and Shoota Boyz
    4. Flash Gitz melt infantry in a blink of an eye so you can focus the rest of your army at dealing with buildings and tanks. You can teleport them with Big Mek or make them temporary invincible with Bad Docs
    5. fast vehicles that eat enemy buildings and vehicles very fast, you spend on them most of your resources because you can spam free Slaggas
    6. a powerful Warboss that makes your infantry immune to morale thanks to his ability and hit like a truck
    7. Squiggot maybe isn't the most durable relic unit, but you can repair it. Daemon armor is arguibly the best armor in game (countered by Grey Knights of course), but most of it's users - Avatar of Khaine, Bloodthirster, Daemon Prince, Krotox and Great Knarloc (Living Saint can revive so is an exception) have problems to regain lost health points. Orks don't have such trouble
    Yes, Necrons (Pariahs, Open Monolith, Necron Warrior bodies ready to resurrect) and Eldars (Avatar of Khaine buff, Webway Gates everywhere) are powerful in lategame too, but it's diffcult to challange the sheer power of lategame Orks

    very good introduction but what beginners struggle most with like me ist controlling troops i just select all and move them somewhere but controlling each unit alone seems so stressfull ist there not a way to quick select each unit by macros?

    • @Spoot401
      @Spoot401 Před rokem +3

      You can set units into control groups. So if you want your troops and vehicles separated without moving each individual one, select all your troops then hold Ctrl and any number on the keyboard (we'll say 1). Then select all your vehicles and do the same with a different number (let's say 2). So, when you press 1, every unit you set to ctrl group 1 will be selected, and you can move them. Pressing 2 will have the same effect. You can also set units to several different control groups. So you could have a Commander set to 1, a squad set to 2, a vehicle set to 3, and all three of them in a group as Ctrl group 4.

    • @dowstronghold4417
      @dowstronghold4417  Před rokem +2

      They also have really good range damage + whenever you are trying to get in melee your hero wont shoot as much (if at all) and if the enemy units just run away he is doing close to no damage. Its also way easier to lose your hero if he is on top of enemy units. You have to know when its best to put him in melee and ranged. Thats something you learn with game experience! :D
