  • The Shoei Neotec 3 is the latest and greatest modular helmet from the legendary Japanese motorcycle helmet manufacturer. This helmet serves as the direct successor to the Neotec II, which was released back in 2018 and has proven to be one of the best, if not the best flip up helmet ever made. Oh, and did I mention that it’s in stock NOW?
Take €20 off the Neotec 3 right now with the coupon code "neotec20"!
I’ve taken the new Shoei Neotec 3 out for a few test rides, just like I did with the Neotec 2 a couple of years ago. In this video I will talk about the specifications of the helmet alongside my personal experience with the Neotec 3 on the road.
The Neotec 3 is made from the same Advanced Integrated Matrix as almost every other Shoei helmet, which basically translates to 6 layers of fibreglass in combination with organic fibres. The helmet’s shell is rock solid, but with low weight: around 1615 grams in the smallest shell size. That’s actually a little bit lighter than the Neotec 2. That’s quite special considering the new ECE 22.06 rating.
Speaking of which… The new ECE 22.06 certification brings quite a few new important safety requirements, such as the addition of a rotational force test, and testing with accessories such as an internal sun visor or communication system. This new requirement raises the bar for helmet manufacturers, keeping our heads safer - jolly good!

I've used a Neo tech II for years, and I find very little to no noise, of course im riding a Goldwing. The comfort for me gets (5) 🌟 the fit gets (5) star 🌟 the ventilation gets (4) star 🌟 overall it's the best helmet I've owned in 49 years of riding

I own a Neotec 2,and just placed a PO with ForteMoto for a Neotec 3. 2 main reasons, the ability to crack open the visor a bit to let air in (it's hot over here in the middle east) and the 0.5 extra depth of the visor, it is sunny over here too!

Basically it's just a slightly better helmet than the neotec 2 so just get the neotec 2 when it's on sale

That's one way of putting it. To be better than the Neotec 2 is quite an achievement, though - even if it is only "slightly".

@@FortaMoto To improve an already great helmet it is necessary to take up every little thing you can find to do so. And in my opinion - just relying on your fabulous review with a good eye on details and some others here on YT - it seems to me that Shoei may has achieved that.
The whistling noise from the small winglets (gone) for example and the 2-step front air inlet now at ne Neotech 3 are some of these.
You mentioned the wide field of view of the PinLock visor. Is that a larger version of the one in the Neotec 2? The one at the NT2 as its mounting points quite a bit more in the field of view compared e.g. to the AGV.

@@TecTurtle3 Thank you for your kind words on our review, they are much appreciated. As mentioned in the video, we are not speaking of a revolutionary new design. We are, however, speaking of very welcome updates and of course the new ECE 22.06 certification. Not everybody buying a Neotec 3 will have owned a Neotec 1 or 2 - that’s why this is more of a specs overview and review than a comparison video. The wide field of view is the same as on the Neotec 2, but it is still a big plus compared to many other helmets - and thus is worth mentioning.

I had been using Shoei for over a decade and loved them but when they tried lock me into a comm system of their preference instead of the Cardo units I decided to switch. I had hoped that they would eventually return to making helmets that were comm system neutral but it doesn't look like that is happening. Luckily, there are other great helmets out there that are comm system neutral and ECE 22.06 rated.

That’s a common beef I’m noticing in comments. The sena not as good then? I’ve just added a fodsports fx6 to an ageing AGV lid. Need plugs and volume won’t drown the wind above 67mph on a tiger 1200 with big screen. Looking to upgrade lid with new coms and have a flip front. Both neotech and Schubert both run the sena integrated coms. Any pointers appreciated..

I had the Sena SRL2 for 5 years with no issues. But when it came time to replace it, I was not going to spend $300 for old technology. I bought the Cardo Packtalk Edge for $312 (magnet unit) and absolutely love all the voice commands. Yes, it has to be mounted further back, but it's hands-free. 👍 👍

You could have measured the chin guard depth it looks a lot deeper than my n2 also the eye port looks smaller ? and I have read comments where if you put that pin lock in (i prefer snake oil ) you can see both ends as your ride ? Re vents I never get any air on chin vent and a tiny bit on top vent. I have had 4 N2 all the same Great helmets but a long way to go.... I was hoping far better venting, and bigger eye port and possibly a lighter e.g. carbon option.I have a question will the new sena 3 headset pair up with th new Go Pro Hero 12 now thats what I want. Good review though stay safe.

My GT-Air (yea, an original version) is over due for a retirement. Looks like the Neotec 3 won't be in the States until spring. Legality aside, If you are looking at 5-6 years of use, did you find the new 3 superior enough to pick one up when I'm in Europe, or just get the 2? I'm not worried about safety or having a cop bother me about the DOT sticker. I'm more concerned with getting the 2 this fall and realizing that the 3 would have been a far better choice.
The only thing I had an issue with the GT-Air was a minor comfort thing. There was a liner seam high on my forehead that caused discomfort after over an hour of use. The solution was to press it into the EPS foam a little bit so that it wasn't as noticeable. That did the trick.
Does the Neotec have a similar shape? And from what I could see, that seam seems to be no longer there. Can you confirm?

Looks nice ! 😀👍🏻👍🏻 And as a public health adviser, I can recomend to stuff in some absorbant tissue paper ( of hand drying type - that doesn't loose much pulp ) after the ride. It will prevent moisture to do its' thing. The lining stays "fresh" much longer, without gathering bad smells.
The paper can then be used for cleaning the bike.... ☝🧐

So Shoei ADDED the winglet things just below the chin bar release on the Neotec 2, and now has decided to eliminate them. Guess that falls under the category of a failed experiment. It doesn't look as though there is a great deal of difference between the 2 and the 3. A more recessed lever for the sun visor, a central lip for the visor, a longer sun visor, an improved chin strap and two vent positions in the chin bar. And elimination of the winglets. No real reason to upgrade yet.

This helmet with a peak would be my ideal helmet. Apart from Schuberth and Scorpion no helmet has a flip up chin, integrated sun shield and a peak. I own the Scorpion one which is fine but pretty loud and made from thermoplastic, Schuberth is better but apparently gets pretty hot and the visibility seems worse from earlier models.
But, both this helmet and the Schuberth seems less interesting when hearing about the built is comms pockets, I rather see they make a helmet and then let me add my own better comms from Cardo than buying a rebranded Sena just because Sena spends their entire time selling custom systems to helmet manufacturers instead making new and better products.

  • @Latitude3324
    @Latitude3324 Před 6 měsíci

I’m wondering where you tried the helmet during daytime over 100km/h in the Netherlands 😂😉
This said I had a sportmodular: disappointing quality compared to Arai, Shoei and Schuberth. I bought an E1 whilst the AGV was back to the factory because of a rusted visor screw on the shield. Yep no joke. Took them 3 months to change a screw.
The E1 only complain was about fogging other than that very comfy.
I just ordered a Neotech 3. In the end there’s an international consensus that the II was the best modular and the new Schuberth C5 seems to have some defects making my choice obvious.
Just to be clear I would have loved a HJC or a LS2 (seems a bang for the bucks). Unfortunately both brands just don’t suit my head shape.
As for the noise no helmet is quiet to the point you don’t need earplugs. And as a bonus if you listen to music like me the sound is much better with plugs as you don’t hear the wind.
Finally for the trac I have an Arai.
    Thanks for your reviews 😊

Ventilation is so poor when closed. The chin vent has low air flow, maybe its because of the insect mesh. The top vent has whistling sound and you have to close it when riding faster and it's so annoying and noisy . I'm have Shoei GT Air 1 as well and ventilation is superior in comparison to Neotec 3
