    Saw your comparison review of like 10 helmets and could not wait for the Neotec 3 to arrive in the USA so I got the 2 with Sena Mesh integrated comms and what a fantastic helmet… Someday down the road I’ll get the 3 or maybe a 4 when it comes out.. I am a SHOEI XXL head!!! Didn’t even suffer wind buffeting like my Sedeci Duale ADV helmet especially during head turns and side wind blasts… It felt like a pillow on my head and yet it does not move… Stupid comfortable for me… Will look at SHOEI first from now on…

      Problem is, the helmet is different in the US. Shoei drops the ece ratings unfortunately.

    • @jamesmullen75
      @jamesmullen75 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@EvMc305 Since ECE2206 now requires a higher puncture resistance rating it means the shells are thicker and therefore heavier... so perhaps not having the 2206 rating will be better here in the states from a weight perspective. Although SHOEI often models the SNELL standard in their DOT rated helmets here in the US so perhaps not since the new 2206 is closer to SNELL than before.

    • @EvMc305
      @EvMc305 Před 8 měsíci

      @@jamesmullen75 I agree that a lighter helmet is ideal. But truly ideal is safety (first). ECE is superior to our DOT rating and arguably better than SNELL. 90% of mfgs stick with the ECE when importing to the US. Makes little to no sense considering. Plus the NeoTec2 is ONLY DOT rated. So once again, it is like they are making 2 sets of helmets, one for all of Europe, other places, and one only for the (dwindling) US market. Make it easier and better for themselves, just import the ECE helmet!

    • @jamesmullen75
      @jamesmullen75 Před 8 měsíci

      @@EvMc305 I agree that it seems like it would be easier to just mfg the same helmet for both Continents now. I can also assure you that the helmets they make for the US markets absolutely go far beyond the dot ratings in terms of safety. Without getting into a debate about snell vs ece (snell doesn’t certify modular helmets) my experience has taught me that with SHOEI their dot only helmets would allow them to pass the Snell certification if they were tested.

    Dedicated comm system is a non-starter for me. I used Shoei GT-Air for a decade before the GT-Air II came out. I miss my Shoei helmet but luckily there are some great helmets out there that do not force you to use their preferred comm system rather than the one you prefer.

      That's a tough line-up to choose from, pretty much the three most popular modular helmets at the moment. And there's no clear-cut winner in my opinion, and like with any helmet it really comes down to your preferences. Here's my advice:
      In our testing the Schuberth C5 had the best features out of the three and was by far the most convenient helmet. Installing the Sena SC2 is literally plug & play, whereas it's a bit more complicated with the other helmets.
      Then, the Shoei Neotec 2 is probably the best overall helmet, and like people have been saying in this comment section it's known for being very comfortable to wear.
      And finally the RPHA 91's advantage is it's 'on the road' performance. It's the quietest helmet we've ever measured and performed well in other area's aswell.
      In our top 10 modular helmets of 2023 video, we concluded that the Neotec 2 scored the highest, taking everything from comfort, to road performance, to price into account. But... always keep your personal preferences first, hope this helped!

    Always been a fan of the Neotec since the first edition. I skipped the 2 and went to the shop for the 3. I got fully disapointed when I fitted it. Thought it would be a slamdunk since the 1 fits like a glove, but the opposite was true. I did not like the fit so decided against buying it.

    I bought an RPHA 91 based on this chart from Champion . It's SIGNIFICANTLY louder than my Schuberth C5, across eight different bikes. I think your meter is broken. But the Neotec 3 is interesting.

      Schubert C5 is louder than HJC C90 for me... So unfortunately important to check with your bike and head.
      Sucks that no places let you test drive the helmet.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your comment. Our meter is not broken :-) numbers don't lie, that is the whole point of measuring it. It's a professional decibel meter and we constantly get surprised by outcomes also. In this case I happened to ride with both the C5 and the RPHA91 and the HJC honestly was noticeably quieter. It could be that you wore the other helmet on a very windy (or not windy day at all) and the results were influenced. One thing is for sure, the decibelmeter is working correctly. We appreciate that you took the time to share your personal experience with others on the channell. Thanks a lot and and don't forget to subscribe 💪🏼

      @@Coldgecko Was not a protest, just my personal experience with the C5.
      Send me a PM and I'll send you a copy of the receipt.
      I'm a tall rider, so sure that plays into it.
      But C5 for sure was louder for me, dealer said the C5 with the Sena was Crème de la crème. It underdelivered in a big way for me.
      I feel my point still stands. Some people will prefer various brands due to differences in bike and height of the rider. Hopefully the Rpha91 or Neotec 3 will be a better fit for me.

    • @Aquadug
      @Aquadug Před 8 měsíci

      I'm read about that defect, heard the solution was to put in a slightly bigger O-ring.
      My eyes tear up when riding at 40-50km so not something that would have been an issue.
      After returning the C5 i bought a HJC V10 for the looks. Season is over in Norway, just put the bike in storage. So the winter will be spent researching about buying the Neotec or Rpha91.

    • @dznnf7
      @dznnf7 Před 8 měsíci

      I'm comparing two helmets that I own and have used extensively, across a couple hundred rides and eight different motorcycles. Obviously a lot of different wind conditions in all those rides. At no point was the RPHA91 quieter than the C5. And decibel ratings are on a logarithmic scale, so the difference between 95 and 98 is enormous. The best possible explanation is a bad instrument, but perhaps it's your testing that wasn't extensive or detailed enough. The only difference I can point to is the Schuberth has a Cardo unit stuck to the side of it - which certainly won't make it quieter. Yet it still clearly beats the HJC. @@Championhelmets

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your comment Chris. You may be disappointed when trying other helmets. The RPHA-91 is honestly a good helmet. It could be that you somehow ended with a weaker manufactured sample, but if we compare the RPHA-91 with this brand new Neotec they honestly aren't that far apart. And for noise it absolutely smashes the competition. Don't get me wrong, we love selling new helmets, but frankly the RPHA-91 is one of the better modular helmets and it won't get a whole lot better than that, maybe on some very specific criteria yes. The RPHA-91 together with this Neotec and the C-5 came out on top when tested objectively. Feel free to share why you don't like it. Thank you for taking the time to share your personal opinion, giving other members on the channel an impression of what other riders think. Thanks for that, we appreciate it.

      @@Championhelmets - perhaps you are right and I just purchased a “lemon” but my experience with the HJC RPHA 91 was truly subpar. For starters, the mechanism for lifting and lowering the visor broke within weeks of purchase. Some of those plastic components are way to delicate to withstand the daily use. Subsequently, the chin bar got stuck in the down position which meant that I had a modular helmet that wasn’t modular anymore. That chinbar would not budge no matter how much I tried. Rain water would routinely cover the inside of the visor when riding in inclement weather. The neck roll started to come off every time I would take off the helmet which was very annoying. The locking mechanism for the visor worked nicely in the beginning but, after while, it became a challenge to unlock the visor without almost ripping one’s head off. You are correct, however, in stating the helmet has superb ventilation. So, would I buy another HJC helmet? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me….

    Where is it set in stone that carbon fiber is better than a multi ply shell construction? If a certain degree of elasticity is required (as SHOEI focuses on) then Carbon Fiber may not be the best material to build with from a safety perspective. Carbon is usually only moderately lighter than fiberglass as well.. maybe 4oz. The scale weights of a helmet don't tell the whole story either. Weight at speed (sometimes referred to as aerodynamic weight) is also a factor. SHOEI designs their shell shapes using an in-house wind tunnel to achieve the right amount of lift while still limiting drag and buffeting... a light helmet may feel heavier if not properly designed aerodynamically. Your reviews are awesome but I just wanted to voice some additional considerations.
