Military pay grades are E-[number] for enlisted, O-[number] for officers, while government employees are GS-[number] for General Schedule or WG-[number] if on wage, plus government pay grades have steps. GS positions are usually “white collar” type positions and require a degree, while WG positions are more “blue collar” type positions that don’t necessarily require a degree, but require at least some type of certification and experience.. it’s possible to have both, like I was in the Air National Guard and had both an enlisted paygrade, but also was a full time technician for a while and was paid on WG scale. There were some occasional situations where you could even be paid both simultaneously. We called that “double-dipping” and of course it was awesome when you could do it, plus there were even occasions where you not only could “double-dip” but also received per diem for lodging and meals. Uncle Sugar can take care of you very well, as long as you go by the rules.

I work with a volunteer search and rescue unit, and we sometimes get this type of joker that thinks if he joins us he can have cop lights on his car and run red lights, etc. They're often guys who failed the police academy, or washed out of boot camp. Living legends in their own minds.

I used to work security at a casino, we had very professional looking uniforms, patches and badges with our tribes official seal on them, even collar rank and name tags. I can't count the times enrout to work I was mistaken for an officer if I stopped for gas or something else.
In the Netherlands, imitating a cop, or just dressing like one, is a crime. Also wearing blue lights on your car is a crime.
He uses purple and "amber" (though his amber has been alleged as red by his county sheriff). Additionally hes not even supposed to use purple and amber combo, only amber and white or only purple.
The sheriffs have ticketed him over it many times.

In fact, years ago, Best Buy got ordered by the CHP to paint the doors of their "Geek Squad" Volkswagen Beetles (with their black and white police themed paint job) black because the black with white doors scheme violated the Vehicle Code. (They did let them keep the roofs white though.)
And yes, all non-emergency vehicles here can only have flashing amber lights. Security officers are also prohibited from activating their overhead amber lights while driving on a public roadway - if they do, it's a misdemeanor and the vehicle can be impounded.
I'm pretty sure this guy would have been arrested here on his very first LE contact, and the bike and all his other company fleet vehicles impounded.
I once watched a CHP officer pull over a suspected cop impersonator. (There had been reports of a guy driving with lights and siren in an all black Crown Vic on the freeway.) The officer couldn't prove the guy driving was guilting of trying to pull anyone over or even using the lights/siren because he never saw him do it, but when he checked the car, he found it was equipped with a siren and red forward facing light mounted behind the windshield. He read the guy the riot act and then ripped the siren out from under the hood, ripped the red light from where it was mounted, and smashed them both on the side of the road. Lol.
If you are using cop tools, you can be a predator and pull women over. He's a convicted Sex Offender. This isn't funny. Why is he free to keep doing this?
It is a felony here but a fried here and there on the police department and or a judge or two has let him get away with it. Laws are going to change because of him. He needs to pay for his reckless behavior.
