- Since a lot of you guys asked, here's part 3 of the squares. In this video we cover historical models starting from the very first G-Shock ever made, the DW-5000C, moving to the Wide Temp models the WW-5100 and WW-5300. The DW-5400 and DW-5500 are also mentioned before we move to the HERO that saved the GShock line from cancelation, the DW-5200. The classic DW-5600C is where we move next and also cover the DW-500C, which is the origin of the Baby-G line. After that we move to the weird and oversized models, like the DW-5300 and DW-6800, as well as the "game" models DW-8000 and DW-8100 before we end this part with the "Stargate" model DW-8300. The rest of the squares will be covered in one of the following weeks as there are more :)

I didn't realize their was so many different square models. I always see people wearing the round ones.
Yup, they are a bit "retro" looking and the large round ones have become more popular over the years, but I still love them more than other models
You all prolly dont care at all but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Remy Conner Instablaster =)
@Lawson Conner thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Lawson Conner it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass :D
Great evolutionary video, thank you. I've got the DW-8300 which I've been giving a good old servicing over the last few days, now it's really sparkly. My son is amazing miniature model painter and kindly refreshed the G-Shock and Illuminator logos perfectly to match with the original colours. My only design gripes are that the buttons are very recessed which I think could have been better being far more prominent and would still be equally aesthetically pleasing. I also wish the backlight would stay on for double the length of time it does, especially important if you need to use other features such as the stop watch at night. For servicing and maintenance, everything comes apart with 16 x cross-head screws and you can easily clean every part of the inner and outer casing, wings and straps. The battery is a nice big CR2016. Overall, it's a very tough and not-so-little vintage timekeeping beast!
As always a great video, I had a hand me down 5500 at the turn of the nineties, sadly lost it circa 2004, it had a couple of battery changes and that was it, made me a G fan for life, currently own a GWM 5610, once again thanks.
Thanks 😊
I think the 5600 series has been the longest continuous selling G-Shock line since 1987 to 2023 and beyond
Really great job on these Gshock vids. Very informative. Thanks!
Thanks for watching 😁
My first G Shock was a 5600C I bought in 1994, and is still with me. Now I have several G Shocks, but love that first G like any other in my collection.
The DW-5600C always reminds me of Keanu Reeves' "Speed" just like what it's mentioned on this video. I always dream of having this when I was a kid.
Love the video... which make me love more on my G-SHOCK watches collection
I own the Casio GShock GD350 and enjoy it greatly for its direct access to countdown timer.
WTF man so many nice looking watches. I din't have any idea about them. Generally i love the shape of Casio watches as i was a young kid in the 90's , and yesterday i bought my first G-SHOCK a brand new GW-M5610-1ER because of the 1983 style. I love these retro old styles. Man so beautiful watches. Sometimes i watch them not for the the time just for the look of them. I also i have the f105w. One thing i like very much about the f105 and f91 and the other of this series , is that they have the most loud hourly and alarm sound for so cheap watches, and i love loud alarm watches. Sometimes when i am 2 steps from sleep , my F105 make the hourly beep sound and wakes me up hard, this is a torture but ok. Nice video by the way sir, you have made very good job .
thank you for The G-SHOCK Square part 3...
😍😍😍
keep on rolling with Nice Watches, especially Casio...
i still love Casio...
especially The Tough Solar
I will 😁
Awesome guess we are having part IV after all, excellent video.
Very informative, thank you!
Attention to Casio engrs.....Please bring back these models in to production lines......
many of these models still available in the market with some slightly minor iteration with a different prefix models number, one example:
DW-5600C with DW5600E
We've given you the 5610😍 -In time my friend in time...
Great vid. Keep up the good work. I hope to see this channel grow.
Thanks 😊.
Make sure to have the notifications turned on as I'll be giving away a watch once the channel reaches 20K, which I hope will be very soon
I really miss my DW-8100.
Purchased from The Sharper Image. It was huge. It was resin and metal. It was my first with the electroluminescent light. It had the funky heads or tails G on the dot matrix screen. It was super comfortable to wear. Too bad the resin cracked at the end 😥
great review, thanks a lot
This is wonderful. I love your G Shock Videos. Have you ever considered doing a “History of Metal G Shocks”? Subscribed.
Amazing History Details About The G-Shock Squares.
Thanks 😊
@@WatchGeek Ur Welcome.
Would have loved to have the dates in the vid...
That was my first thought within the first minute.
As usual a great review, myself too being a gshock fan would really appreciate if you could do a video on that Casio series of watches with games as my growing years was in 80's I was too fasinated by seeing those different Casio watches.
What an amazing video! Thank you!
Thank you for watching and for the kind words 🙂👍
Thanks for sharing
Awesome video with a lot of information and great shots of each of the watches. it would be interesting to know how the movie role of the watches developed
i owned a dw6800 as a child and i beat the hell out of it. threw it high up the air and let it fall on concrete. it was tough as hell. i lost that watch a long time ago, now i want one again.
I hope Casio will reissue a few of these.Buying second hand the very old ones is risky due to resin rot, high price and no available parts.Sooner or later i'm shure that after market parts will be available for the old models.Maybe Wilma Gifts will produce a wider range
Спасибо. Хороший обзор. Смотрел с автоматическими субтитрами.
Great video
Thanks 😊
Watched this video today and my 5610 displayed Sunday 6-30
A must have watch. Mine is the 5600E.
Great vid
I'm looking for a spare part for my DW-8300 more precisely one back case protector or a pair if available, can someone help me out?
Super film!!!
Thanks
Great Overview Video.thanks
Thanks for watching 😁👍
@@WatchGeek haha your welcome👍🏻.Since Yesterday i'm a proud owner of a G Shock GD-x6900mc-1er. It's mi first one and my first watch after 23 Years when i was 14😅 is it possible to change the Date from Month-Day to Day-Month?
The only g shock i like is the square
Wish Casio would 'also' make a slightly bigger DW5600 at 46.5mm wide up from it's 42.8. When looking down on my wrist it looks fine but when looking in the mirror i can't help feeling... it's just a bit too small.
A Skmei 1134 lookalike is 50mm wide (similar to the GX56) and at that size it's just too big (like a mini TV screen on your wrist). Having tried both and looking in the mirror there's a definite size sweet spot right in between the two.
A slight size increase would still fit under a sleeve, remain a smallish/medium classic G-Shock, but look less retro and more modern-era masculine.
The venerable and iconic submariner has it's bigger Sea dweller so why not a slightly bigger 5600.
Amazing history, thank you for this. Could you do one of these for Seiko divers?
Oh great idea 👍
Thanks for this video, i Love g-shock since eLementary age, I just ask someone wearing it "is that a g-shock"?but I got one in 2015 with ga-400, Long years of Longing. Haha
Great video just subscribed
Cool
Was there ever a part 2 of this?
I'm definitely picking up the slightly smaller 5610 with the solar and automatic sync at $85 it's a steal!
It is really one of the best bang for buck GShocks out there
@@WatchGeek One of the best value watches period. Well in my opinion that is.
I love the 5610 it looks like the original from 83 aswell just doesnt have the screwback and isnt made in japan but in thailand but suits smaller wrist sizes compared to the 5600 and is lightweight when compared to the 5000 and has the best features in such a small and sturdy package. Iv had mine over two years as a daily beater and it is the one and only watch anyone will ever need. No need to set the time or change batteries ever no nonsense accurate time as it updates daily. What a steal. It also has a battery saver mode and a light feature that turns on when at viewing angles which is so clever and works everytime. I just leave mine in the garden twice a year for it to charge the battery as ots come down the medium and now for the past 4 months has been on high so the solar power function also works really well.
Yeah I really like how it puts itself to bed😁. Nicknamed mine 'Mario' , can y'all guess why?
@@surfside75 do tell..
I love g shock
I've got the DQ-7511 citizen from 1985.
hey man, can you talk about the g-shock 9052? Thank you
Do you know what is the purpose of the four "dimples" on the watch face corners (also present on the strap)?
Pretty sure there’s no purpose to those dimples other than styling.
Original g shock was da bomb. Cant beat it. If I’m ever rich I’ll buy me one
Got one as a gift a 5000 in1983/4 when the battery died I threw it away! Got another one think that was 5200 again threw it away then same story with the 5600c and on it goes? Guess I should have had new batteries fitted looking at the prices now!
This is great. I know it's nearly 4 years old now, but I hope this comment helps the youtube metrics anyway.
I have two a black tile and a original tile. I love G shocks a Dw 600E and a DW 5610su
Epic
G-shock my collection
How about to thus model GDF100???THANKS
and the casio f30? There is not a single video and it is a watch that came out great. I remember the year 92. The buttons were made of rubber and weighed less than a feather. They are hardly found anymore. And new much more difficult.
Does anyone know where I can find a DW-8000?
In the movie MI2 the watch tom had worn was casio dw290, please don't distract.
Nope, he wore the DW290 in the first movie 😉
Here read up: www.twentytwoten.com/788/big-screen-watches-mission-impossible-series/
the first 5000 and The Hero 5200
Love these bad boys
I got an ad for s shock watches. Yes, s shock
been looking for the DW8160.. can't buy one anywhere
eBay is your best bet
Any ideas on pricing out my rough 5200c?
Look them up on eBay to see what the prices are currently
I've got two of the currently available models - I paid about $45 for each
One is for everyday use that includes grinding and welding
and the other for getting dressed up, like when I go to Walmart.
I re-set them on the 1st of the month - they each gain like 10 seconds
DW 8300 wow !
I'd like it if they brought out one that didn't have all
the logos and emblems and advertizing.
Put that stuff on the packaging or
instruction manual
You skipped the DW-5800 :o)
Muito bonito
Do you think it’s possible to squeeze a modern solar module into a star gate?
I wonder if there is a watch that will resist at more then 20 bars pressure.
Yes, but not a G-Shock
The orange thingie?
This Video needs an update, there is an new DW-H5600. Its an Update to the original DW-5600 now having an Heart Rate Monitor and lots of other features (basically its a smart watch but without a touch screen)
So another anniversary edition
Already got one 😁
@@WatchGeek Just noticed. Couldn't find it via the CZcams Search but when going directly to your channel, it shows up.
What is fox fire? Is that a gimmick or some sort of line?
That's how the EL backlight was called in Japan
Just cashed in a dw 5300 for 41.00 bucks in an eBay bid
I can't find the first video you talk about
Do you mean this: czcams.com/video/ZR8nlOzOzTw/video.html
A classical square G-Shock 56XX series, but with a barometer. That would be my favourite watch ever.
🖤⌚
Where can I buy DW-8060?
It has been discontinued for years, so your best bet is eBay and similar auction sites
@@WatchGeek thanks.i really like the look of it. So nostalgic
I have a DW5600E I bought at Target
DW 5500 appears in the beginning of the 1987 movie "Burglar" with Whoopi Goldberg. This watch is worn by a rich man robbed by Bernice Rhodenbarr the burglar.
4.30.21
DW 6600?
I have the GW‑M5610U‑1ER it’s the best looking. I don’t like the other models.
But DW-290 is not a G-Shock!?
5040
Lol that's not why it's called the "hero" esp when the line just came out. It's ALL because it was worn by the HERO of the "speed" movies
Nope, Keanu wore DW-5600C, not this one
What is condom timer?!
Sorry the Gundum
Point G Shock
Цікаве відео. Обожнюю G-Shock
NO TALKING
Cool
