      You're welcome. It is true though, installing HA on RPI these days is so easy!

    Every creator is doing HA Green reviews at the moment. Green is not something to upgrade to, unless you are upgrading from a Raspberry Pi 3. It's perfectly fine in performance, but with no radios, and no upgrade path, other than two USB ports, it's aimed at people just starting. Maybe people who have a few manufacturer hubs that they want all joined into one interface. If you need other things, you'll want to go to a Home Assistant Yellow as this is going to be continued longer term. Once you add the price of hubs and radio dongles, it's pretty close to the same price as the premade Yellow. CM4's are still a little hard to get, so there is still likely going to be a wait to get one, which is a bit of a downside to the yellow, where the green is readily available.

      Your comment is similar to the things I'm saying in the video! Thanks for confirming it :)

    Hi Kiril, thanks for your insights. I bought a Home Assistant Green for my smart camper. I had some difficulties with my backup from my RPi4. But now everything runs very smooth. Why I changed from the RPi4? First the HA Green runs with 12 Volt, second I do not have to use additional SSD and third I already had a external bluetooth dongle as well as the Skyconnect from NabuCasa. And after all it looks much better and uses less cabeling in my sideboard.

      Thanks for sharing! Seems like a good swap :) Maybe I should also replace my RPI4 but now I have something more important ahead and the RPI4 is rock solid..

    Thanks for sharing however the better option would be buying an OrangePi 5 as 4GB version costs the same for better RK3588S chip and it happily runs HA with speeds faster that the upcoming RaspberryPi 5. I've had my HA setup running on 16GB and it handles everything with nothing but a 5v fan + heatsink!

    Hi Kiril! Great video once again. Question: Is it possible to add a saved image file from an older RasPi 3 HA installation? It would be nice if this is possible as the system is only used to control Tuya lights. I would not want to have to go through adding 30 fixtures back into a new HA Green.

    • @KPeyanski
      @KPeyanski  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, absolutely. Do a full backup of the HA on RPI 3. Then download the backup image and restore it on your new HA device. You have to use the same backup/restore menu from where you can upload the backup.

      Additional note. Home Assistant is the same on every device you run it on, it is only the variant of HAOS, or whatever OS you run, that is different. All HA Backups can be restored to all HA instances, regardless of the device. Caveat here, some add-ons may not run on a ARM processor and require Intel, or vice vera, so just check your add-ons

    what flavour of HA is installed? Does the version installed support the community addons store, by Frenck? Or can a compatible version be installed, getting rid of the preinstalled one? thanks!

    • @EsotericArctos
      @EsotericArctos Před 11 měsíci +1

      It is full HAOS and Home Assistant. It is not Home Assistant Supervised or Home Assistant Core. It has the full supervisor, HAOS and this includes the add-on store. The Green is aimed at people who want the full, out of box experience, and not have to muck around with things. Like the Yellow, and the Blue before hand, 100% with add-on store.
      Home Assistant has a naming convention, When you see Home Assistant, that is the full HAOS, Supervisor and Home Assistant with the full add-on Store. Home Assistant Core is the base version with no add-on store or supervisor.

      @@EsotericArctos even the community addons store? Usually that's separated, AFAIK, needs to be added as additional url repository, so it can be done? If yes, I'm buying this, thanks!

      @@KPeyanski Unfortunately, I don;t have one yet (not selling in my country) but I think active cooling is great, because right now I have a raspberry PI 4 with an Argon One case and may CPU temp never go above 39 degree Celsius even if I keep it on the fridge where is hot and of course being high is more heat there...
