  • Home Assistant Green is the new hardware offering by Nabu Casa, the makers of Home assistant. The Home Assistant Green is joining the old Home Assistant Yellow and sort of replacing the old Home Assistant Blue. But What is the Home Assistant Green and who is the target audience? Lets find out.
Home Assistant Green is the all new "plug and play" type of device from Nabu Casa and considering the hardware inside the Home Assistant Green and its price point, i foresee this device is going to be targeting a very specific and large type of users or potential buyers and they are a very different type of users targeted by the Home Assistant Yellow.
The whole idea and the design behind the Home Assistant Green is being cheap enough, easy enough and high quality enough to be right up the ally of the people who are not tech savvy enough for the Home Assistant Yellow. People who are just looking for the easy and simple way in. The Home Assistant Green is exactly the right choice.
Unlike the Home Assistant Yellow, the Home Assistant Green doesn't have any upgrade options. Its plenty strong for almost 90% of Home Assistant users but no upgrades can be done. Again, keeping things simple.
My main takeaway from reviewing the Home Assistant Green is that its the perfect way to start using Home Assistant, especially for those users who were, up unstill today, almost completely blocked from using Home Assistant because of its fairly complex installation process. The Home Assistant Green come preinstalled and all you need to do is just plug it in and open up a web browser...and thats it, you're in.
There are of course several other differences and considerations you should take into account if you are in the market for hardware for Home Assistant. Watch this video to find out more.

Shalom Avi. I have used basic automation in my house using Wifi (in the US). Going on, I do want to utilize the Zigbee network and use the "HA Green". It is not clear to me if the fact that Zigbee uses the same 2.4 Ghz frequency which the Wifi , would cause an issue to the Wifi!? In your very well prepared video you mention (2:16) that you do not recommend using the Wifi for this installation. So:
    1) Is it necessary to use the Ethernt I/O in the Green box to hook it up with the house router? If not - what is this I/O port used for?
    2) How do we avoid the interference with the Wifi on 2.4 !? If the answer is: "don't use it..." - how do we avoid using it?
Thank you for clarifying that concern of mine.
    Zvi

From the timeline it looks like you only talk about the unboxing and pricing. A little more breakdown could go a long way in helping us know what you're going to dive into.

The question maybe short but the answer is very long. In general, home assistant is a smart home plaftorm thats very popular among smart home enthusiasts
