I watched this about a week ago and thought about some of the concepts as I played some casual rounds over the last few days and noticed i wasn't hurting my shoulder on my forehand which I normally do. Ifinally got around to trying out the steps on some fieldwork today and it really did make a difference. I threw 82 forehand drives (I have a bag of 18 drivers) and my shoulder didn't hurt and - more importantly - I threw pretty consistently (assuming I got the angle of release right for the stability of the disc).
I even threw one about 370 feet which is probably, easily 40 feet further than I've ever thrown a forehand - and 20 feet further than my backhand on a very good day.
Thanks for the video and breakdown. It was super helpful.

I'm going to mimic everyone here and say how great of a break down this seems to be... now to go and apply this to field work.
A quick question- as I go about working on this technique, what sort of disc would you recommend? Something stable? Driver/FD/Mid/Putter? Either way, thanks for the clear explanation- I find it fascinating when the cross over from one sport to another works so well... I used to play ball golf, and got so annoyed when hockey players who barely played golf could outdrive me... of course, this was before Happy Gimore even came out!

ok i know im going to sound like that person, but i NEVER had a forehand and FH videos are probably the number 1 type of discgolf instructional videos i have seen. This is by far some of the best advice out there and delivered in less than 10min is amazing. The drills and especially the tips on how to prevent injury are both fantastic. I dont have a big arm but after watching this a couple days ago i went out to the course yesterday and told myself i would play each Tee with a BH and FH throw. This WORKED. i was consistently throwing what i would call a good FH from the start and by the end of the round i was outdriving my BH throw almost everytime. I was blown away. Caroline is a BOSS and it has been awesome to see her take off this year, and content like this just adds to it! Thank YOU for making this!

Excited for the backhand video if it's anywhere near as good as this one! A backhand video with correct mechanics, explained well, will be huge! Making the distinction between real and feel is great too. There's only so much information people can get from watching slow mo footage, but video footage is not good at showing the forces the player is actually applying.
Disc golf has started falling into many of the same traps as golf did where for decades people were trying to replicate pro form based on video footage, with no real understanding of what forces the player is actually intentionally applying, and what are just byproducts of those forces, resulting in people mimicking "outputs" as if they were "inputs." Much like the old "squash the bug" trope that has haunted many sports.

Ever since I saw Eagle McMahon get injured (shoulder) and he was not able to use his amazing forehand / sidearm weapon, I decided as a Right-Hand / Back - Hand only thrower to start throwing Left - Hand Back Hand also. That was the fall of 2021. I have a old injury to my right shoulder ( struck by pickup truck while a pedestrian ) that i never had surgically repaired. So I knew that at some point on the course I would be faced with a left handed throw because of an awkward lie I would be confronted with, Do you and any of the FPO players discuss maybe learning to throw with the opposite hand, in case you suffer an injury and cannot throw at all with your dominant hand?? It has only been a year and a half, and I can throw almost farther left - handed than right - handed!!
