I have only had my Pocket 3 for a few weeks and I am sure there is a ton more to learn about it but so far it has been a delight to use, but is it worth the money!?

Brilliant video thank you :) You just made my mind up for me. I have been trying to reduce the size of my camera bag too and I have sadly had to retire my lovely Sony A77ii and kit (yes its old but I love it and feel sad) and in its place i have the Sony RX100 mk5a, my photography is all based around "decay and decline" so lots of tight places and extreme light, but now i cant hold the RX100 steady enough for walking videos.... Enter the Pocket 3 then...and now my camera bag is the manageable size of a bum bag. Thanks again for the fab video.
You will NOT regret it I don’t think. That video was my first real time using it and the footage blew me away! I can’t wait to get more comfortable using it and I’ve now ordered ND filters so I can better control the light and shutter speed!

Thanks David. Although I use a Leica Q for shots, I still love my Canon G9 (12mp) for effective (mood) shots, so the Pocket 3 photo quality is perfect for that need. I’ll be getting my Mavic 3 Classic which will be the perfect match for the Pocket for films. MeHi from Newfoundland

My new video, which I’m currently editing, tests the pocket 3 for photography amongst other things. Whilst it is very handy and easy to use, I found the quality lacking a bit, especially for wider landscape photography. I had to use Topaz Photo AI to upscale them and sharpen them. I can’t wait to see how they look in the video but unfortunately it won’t mean that I can leave my Canon R5 at home! To be fair, one is 9mp and the other 48mp! It was still nice to not have to e a backpack on when making the video!!!
I’m hoping to have the new video up on Friday night or Saturday morning!

Nice vid mate - and nice editing - feel like we’re at about the same stage (who am I kidding perhaps you’re a wee bit further along 😂).
Pocket 3 was an absolute game changer for me - faffing about trying to film my dialogue footage on my iPhone was just a complete PITA!)
It frees you up to concentrate on the content rather than the technicalities.
Would be really interested to know how long it took you to edit this vid - as a beginner I’m averaging about 50mins editing time for each minute of finished video (but learning sooo much each time I do!).

you will still take more cameras than you need in the car boot then have that big decision as you change your mind which cameras to carry.... I think we all do it.
You are absolutely spot on!! I find it almost impossible to leave anything behind! What if there is wildlife, an aurora or the need for macro all in the same trip🤣🤣🤣🤣
How does thw footage compare to R5? I know R5 is obviously better but how big ia the gap?

I’ve been absolutely blown away by it! In certain shots I can’t tell the difference and even in those that I can , the hassle of setting up the R5 doesn’t make it worthwhile.
This weeks video has some ‘proper’ photos taken with the Pocket 3! It’s only about 8 megapixels compared to the 48mp on the R5 so it will be interesting to see if they turn out any good!😁😁😁🏴🏴🏴🏴

I am basically trying to double my frame rate when using shutter. So I typically shoot 30fps and aim to have my shutter at 60. I don’t have any ND filters so this can be a bit of a struggle at the moment!!!😁😁🏴🏴🏴

I tried where possible to keep it to shutter being double my frame rate. Frame rate was 30 and shutter at 60. I unfortunately don’t have any ND filters for it yet so I struggled with light sometimes and needed to speed the shutter up quite a bit!

No 3.5mm jack though. Can you use a shotgun mic with an adaptor?
I don’t have it with me but there’s a 3.5mm in the transmitter so you can attach a cavalier mic. There might be a workaround using that?😊😊🏴🏴
Great video, but please balance your sound. Music, I have to turn the volume down, speech, I have to turn the volume up. Up, down, up, down, up, down. (Balance) Just a suggestion.

I boosted the gain by 2 and could probably boost another 1. I find I need to up the volume in editing. I also make sure the noise reduction is off and use plugins in Final Cut Pro to deal with that!

My problem is the Mic 2... I have DJI Mic, and use it constantly - but bought the creator kit to get the mic & battery (and bag) - the mic 2 pairs with DJI controllers, Smart Controller (RM500), RC (RM330) RC-2 (RC331) and RC Pro (RM510) but wont transmit sound over Bluetooth. So I have to bring Pocket 3, Mic 2, Mic 1 abd whatever Drone controller im flying with. Pocket 3 was supposed to REDUCE my kit, but its adding pieces. If I get the Full Mic 2 when it ships with a receiver, I'll have to sell the old Mic. Oh, and why, pray tell does the slip on harc cover/gimbal protector NOT FIT in the shaving bag? You have to choose: travel with the cover on OR the bag (with bits & bobs) but never both. DJI: 2 THINGS PLEASE 1. ECOSYSTEM - let your Mic work with your drone controllers. 2. When you make a "Kit" - make the "Kit bag" big enough (in this case like 2mm bigger) to fit the KIT. All of it please. Thank you.
Funny you mention that Blair because I was looking online at 3rd party travel cases for it because it is VERY tight in the DJI bag! Haven’t settled on one I like yet!
I saw another video on the subject of the mic and it is a shame it doesn’t seem to have a lot of compatibility with earlier hardware. I know some are unhappy with the new RC controller not working with older drones. I’m fortunately not in that position but I do own the Mic 1 kit with charger. I’m going to use that with my R5 if I ever shoot on that again!!

@@davidmuirphotography The switch to O4 for RC-2 is, unfortunately, pain that we go though on Transmission system upgrades. The controller might be able to work with older drones, through multi-fimware switching on device, and shutting off 2 of the now 6 antennas, buy older, O3 controllers now have a countdown to EOL. Been here before. The case and mic issues are logistical mostly, with a bit of $$ in there (as always) Lol. Thanks - subscribed!

I agree my friend! I was trying to keep the shutter at twice my focal length but I didn’t have any ND filters so it was hard to do it. I have a set of filters on order now and they should be here tomorrow. Hoping the next video is more balanced. Thanks for the feedback, it really does help!😊🏴🏴

@@davidmuirphotography I spoke with DJI this morning. It doesn't, which is a shame. I would've thought a small, gimbal camera like this would've been great for creating 360's, especially as their drones can already do it.

I think that may have something to do with the footage being too bright because I didn’t have an ND filter and I tried to save the footage with a few LUTS! 😊🏴

Pocket 3 is just too fragile/precious and for that reason alone, I’ll take even the Action 4 over it. It isn’t about the camera anyway. Some of the best things I’ve seen have been shot on what most here would consider not a “real” camera. I don’t care what you shoot on. Just make a good video.
