Kids don’t understand how difficult it is to be a metal vocalist. It took me maybe around 6 months to get it to where it didn’t hurt my vocal chords.

Man I love Slipknot. Sucks that most of them don't like them. They just hear screaming, see the masks and think they're scary and shit. Look up the lyrics, watch some interviews, educate yourself.
My daughter is 4 and loves Slipknot but also loves Rihanna and pop top 10 stuff. Some of these kids seem super closed minded.
I don't want to say it's a genre thing either. Musicians pre 2005 had substance to their music. The lyrics meant something, the instruments, vocals, everything tied together to tell a story. And you could feel the emotions the writer was trying to portray. Every band/musician these days has no talent. A producer has found an algorithm of sounds that can produce quick popularity and money and put the same song out there 1000x just to make a quick buck. Noone cares about making genuinely good music any more and it's sad.
