Price Technic everything is better than Roy in my opinion. Price have better stats than Roy, and Roy was only higher than 0.920% 3 times in his entire career. Finished with 0.910%. Price was 6 time higher than 0.920, and 2 times higher than 0.930 (0.933/0.934) and Finished at 0.917%. Also, in my opinion, Roy had better teams in front of him than Price. What's even crazier is that Carey Price is known for his incredible positioning. most of his saves are not at all spectacular which is why he is seen as one of the most talented goalies of all time. I think he's in the top 3 with Brodeur and Roy, but sadly never won a cup, and had a career filled with injuries which arguably makes his stats and performances that much more incredible. I'm not sure the league will ever have a goalie as dominant as him again.

About Carey Price situation right now...apparently his knee injury he got 2 years ago isn't healing very well even after some procedure and goalie with his style use them a lot. It's not official yet, but because of that, his career is pretty much over, 2 years ago was his last window to win the cup. He was one of the best goalie of the 2000 and 2010 in the NHL, top team Canada goalie in Olympic where he won the gold medal. He is a case of insane good goalie with rarely great team in front of him, Montréal was manage poorly in the 2000...There is a new management team in Montréal since last year, but Price doesn't seems to be part of the plan and his retirement seems more and more inevitable. He has many records with Montréal like most win in Franchise history but the question remain if he is a Hall of Famer with no cup. Carey Price (the 🐐) played his last game in the 2021-2022 season where he missed every game after the Canadiens cup run when they were the least favoured team to reach the final. Carey single-handedly brought them there on one knee!
His last game was a 10-2 victory.
This man means alot to the city and fans of Montreal. During his career he only had one player in front of him reach a point per game (Alexei Kovalev in 2007, Careys rookie season). Many injuries would set him and the team back during his tenure as a Hab. Most Notably won 4 of the biggest trophies in the 2014-2015 season, which only a handful of players in LEAGUE HISTORY have accomplished this feat. Undoubtedly wouldve won many cups if the management actually gave him a good team.
Currently he is still under contract for the next 3 seasons, and is on long term injured reserved because he is too injured to play.
Unfortunate because if anyone deserves a cup, it is this guy.
Montreal loves you Carey, he made a generation of kids (some who play in the NHL right now) fall in love with hockey and influenced them in their playstyle.
No i did not google all this, i was a first hand witness of his skill, poise, and love for the game.

These saves made by Price are very reminiscent of one goalie in particular.
As far as I'm concerned, as good as Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur were, they're both fighting for second place behind Dominik Hasek (and that's coming from a Montreal-born hockey fan). His style of play stifled and aggravated players. The numbers speak for themselves. He still has the NHL’s highest career save percentage. He’s also the only goalie ever to lead the league in both shots faced per 60 minutes and save percentage in the same season, and he did it twice!! He's the first European starting goalie to win the Stanley Cup.
And the hardware he amassed throughout his career is just insane.
2 Hart Trophies (only goalie to do that)
    2 Lester B. Pearson Awards
    6 Vezina Trophies (absolutely insane)
    3 William M. Jennings Trophies
    1 Olympic Gold
    1 Olympic Bronze
4 World Championship medals (1 silver and 3 bronze)

    2 Stanley Cups

I'm a Habs fan because I come from a family of Habs fans. I don't even follow the game that much since they've started changing the players around so much.
But, for what it's worth, it seems to me like Carey Price is the best not because of the spectacular saves he's made (although, obviously, it takes a special kind of talent and discipline ot be able to do that) but because he was consistently good throughout his career. There were games where he was off, but he remained consistently the best. And that's what's extremely rare.

Carey Price revolutionized goaltending. He took butterfly goaltending (his style) to another level with amazing positioning, calm demeanour and efficient movement. ALL modern goalies that came after Price, modelled their game after him. He was my favourite as he was from the same province as I am, British Columbia in Canada. I miss seeing him in the league everyday, so very dearly.
PS: Carey Price only ever had ONE player that scored over 80 points in a single season. Had he had a better team in front of him, he would have won many championships.

Take a look at the first save....Carey is giving, no daring the shooter to shoot top right corner, the player bit and Pricer was ready of course. Did you check the fan reaction? Ballistic....btw, the opposing player in front tapped him on the pads after the stop. RESPECT.

Dominik Hasek is probably the most acrobatic goalie of all time, Roy was awesome and willing/wanted to fight anyone; Price, Fleury, Holtby, Rask, Brodeur, Richter, Lundqvist, Quick were all awesome in net. And just about any goalie who goes late into the playoffs is going to have some amazing skill, like Bobrovsky who was super human for the panthers in the in their playoff run this past season.

The thing with goalies in NHL hockey is that the "best of the best," while they are very capable of making these flashy, huge saves, they succeed because they don't put themselves in those situations in the first place. The "best" are ironically the ones that rarely let in the shitty goals that the ones below them might.
Carey Price is arguably one of the best netminders of all time, but take a look at Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, and the like - they're obviously capable of huge saves you'll find in highlight reels, but their overall career save %s and such statistics aren't all eye candy, they just stop pucks more often than anyone else.

Unfortunately, him not ever winning a championship affects his legacy. If he had won at least one cup he could've been hailed the greatest goalie of all time.

Patrick Roy is often considered the greatest goalie of all time. Greatest single season could be considered to be Tony Esposito who had 15 shutouts back in the early 70's which is a record still to this day (not including George Hainsworth's 22 shutouts in 44 games but that is considered before the modern era). If Ken Dryden hadn't had such a short career he might have been considered the greatest, he won 6 Stanley Cups in only 8 years. He was the only player of any position to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (MVP of the Playoffs) before he won the Calder Trophy the next year as rookie of the year.

Price is widely viewed as the best goalie of this generation. Even other NHL goalies (of this generation) have said so. Some haters will raise the argument that if he's that good, how come he never won the Stanley Cup? Well, sadly its because we (Montreal) never gave him good, consistent offense in front of him.
Sadly it DOES appear that Price's playing days are now over. He WILL still be around the team occasionally in some capacity, but he hand his family have moved back to BC (the other side of the country). There are rumours that in a few years, when he's ready, he might become a goalie coach for Montreal.
Oh, and those saves where Price's arm seem to come out of nowhere, on those saves, he's generally catching the puck in his glove.
Price was also generally viewed as the best puck moving goalie, when he played the puck with his stick.
Also, the guy you asked who he was, in the stands - that was Patrick Roy, another great goalie from Montreal's storied history - he was the goalie for Montreal when they won their last Stanley Cup in 1993, which was the last time a Canadian team won the Cup.

I'd have to say Price is in the top 10 for goalies of all time and the only goalie that I think was better then Price to not win a cup was Lundqvist. As for who is doing stuff similar to him, Andrei Vasilevskiy for sure and to a degree Thatcher Demko, Jake Ottengier and Juuse Saros. Johnathan Quick has regressed quite a bit from making saves like this. Fleury has spectacular saves but mainly cause he's out of position or leaves a large rebound. If you're looking for GOAT contenders in goaltending, you're looking at Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy, Dominik Hasek, Roberto Luongo, Ken Dryden, Terry Sawchuk, Henrik Lundqvist just to name a few, and you can definitely add Price to this list.
