He is an agitator. Learned from his father who was nothing but a POS himself. Taught to have no respect, no morals, no values, and don't give a shit about anyone but themselves. Having players like this can be good at times, but at what cost really because you end up having such an incredibly awful reputation and are not respected, or liked by your peers where it matters the most.

Brady Tkachuk leads the league in both Shots on net, hits and penalties drawn, something that's never happened before. He doesn't have many amazing looking highlights, but he is extremely effective at what he does. He is super annoying to play against because you know he'll chirp you the entire time he's not playing, and hit you every time he's on the ice. In hockey he's the kind of player every team wants on their team and nobody wants to play against (He's an energizer bunny who also stands up for his teammates). Brady and Matthew's dad Keith Tkachuk was basically the definitive power forward, a guy who could score 50 goals in a season, fight and hit with the best of them.

Which his physical but its not ugly in the same way it was back then. Say scott stevens, probably the player with the worst history in the nhl and getting the least amount of suspensions for it. @@YzzSC I hear ya, but it's tough transitioning to modern hockey after growing up on it in the 80's & 90's. I quit watching after the second lock out, but I'm trying to get back into it lately. Yes, players are faster, stronger & in better condition, but they're slaves to their systems, admittedly making it more competitive, but it lacks the creativity & individual style(I say that sparingly, because it still exists, but not in the same quantity) it once thrived on. Getting rid of the red line should've put scoring up to what it once was, but the goalies of today are huge mutants. I hope the modern game finds away to bring back the goal scoring of yesteryear, & some of the old school chippyness, not everybody threw elbows so much as bodies.

Brady and Matthew are what is called an instigator, they basically are there to get the other team mad while still staying out of the penalty box, this helps their team since if the opposing team is angry they are more like to blow up and then get a penalty which gives the instigators team an advantage. They also are there to protect other players, if someone makes a huge hit on one of their players then it is the instigator's job to go out and fight that guy, thus keeping him from doing it again. Instigators are very interesting as it comes with a whole honour system that they call the CODE of hockey, and in that code are many unwritten rules that are kept as an honour system for instigators of what they can and cannot do.

I'm an Ottawa fan so im biased, but we live having Brady Tkachuk on our team and most want him to be named Captain.
He's not a dirty player, certainly less so than his brother. But Brady is bigger than his brother (although doesn't seem to put up as many points, but he is on a worse team). Why people hate Brady is his style of play is 110% every shift. He loves to play physical and hit guys which pisses people off. He loves to go into the corners and work for the puck. And he has the skill to score in the NHL.
It's frustrating for opposition because he can dominate you physically and via skill. But what puts him over the top is that he will "chirp" you. He'll talk trash the entire game and try and make you angry and emotional to get you off your game and take a penalty. I believe Brady is at the top of the league this year for penalties drawn which is a huge boost to your team.
Basically, Brady Tkachuk just plays a very "in your face" style and doesn't back down. He's always in the scrums and likes to egg people on. But he is a blast to watch and every team in the NHL would want him to play for them.

To answer a couple questions you had- these types of players are called Agitators, or lovingly, Goons. They act like this to try and get the other team to screw up or get a penalty, which typically works out perfectly.
When you hear players clack their sticks against the boards or on the ice, its a sign of respect. Typically happens after a fight, or an injury that makes a player either leave the game, or they get hit hard enough to go down and manage to keep playing.

Most young players nowadays are pretty clean but the Tkachuk brothers are one of the few exceptions

Brady Tkachuk just signed a 7-year, $57.5 million contract, and it's anticipated he will be the next captain of his team. His older brother Matthew is in the last year of a 3-year, $21 million contract, and the next one will likely be similar to Brady's. They can be "little sh*ts" but that's not all they do. Their father Keith was a great player; he has an outside chance to get in the Hall of Fame.

Ill give you a football comparison to what these two brothers are like. Roy Keane. Irritate opponents to put them off but also good at the game.

He’s the kind of guy you’d love to have on your team and you hate to compete against. The Tkachuk’s are kind of what a modern day “goon” looks like it’s trending towards. They still mix it up and give you the grit and edge, but they’re also still skilled hockey players that can put up points for your team. Weird dynamic but the Tkachuk brothers are two of the best at it 😂

It’s so funny, I met Brady Tkachuk about a year and a half ago and he was genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Sometimes his play style doesn’t reflect his personality lol. I’d say he’s less of a little shit, more of a guy having too much fun who gets under your skin.

Met this guy in real life. Needless to say my buddies and I made a meme using his face and when we showed him. He was genuinely pissed off. Did not seem like a good guy whatsoever. Even his teammates had a good laugh at the meme. It was also a harmless and funny picture might I add
