This episode I chat with one of my good friends Tanya. We speak about finding the right tribe and making friends as a nomadic expat living in a foreign country; working remotely from home and struggling with loneliness or lack of human contact; choosing the country or city that is best for you and many other topics. Hope you enjoy it.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.

This guest is so articulate and thoughtful. ❤
The learnings from those who have truly experienced life and put themselves out there to help others is immeasurable! Thank you for this interview ! ❤🇨🇦
I feel like I am sitting with you guys and sharing our ups and downs, how very wonderful. My heart always fills with love when sharing time with Kylie. Thank you 1,000 times for bringing us up out of our own dilemmas and reminding us that we are all on a journey of learning.
What a beautiful comment. You’ve made me feel very special.
Yes! Ditto completely!
It was so uplifting to listen to intelligent, considered conversation. A lovely way to spend an hour with my cup of tea this morning. Thank you, Kylie.
💕💕💕
This is my favorite kind of stuff from you, Kylie! That said, EVERYTHING you work on is brilliant and wonderful to watch, but this heart-to-heart, meaning-laden, deeply inquisitive content is just honey to my soul. Thank you for making my Friday, Kylie!
Wow, thank you! 🙏🏼♥️
I love when she says of course I will bring the dog with me, I can't leave him. That says a lot about her already😊
Many of us fail to resonate with our country or city of birth. It was refreshing to hear you both talk of the exhilaration of arriving in a new country/city not knowing anyone! I feel the same and I’m about to take off again….I’m always reluctant to get back on the plane home…
Listening to your lovely chat, thank you for allowing us to be a part of it! Great friendships are a treasure, enjoy yours! Have a beautiful weekend!
❤❤❤
Made my cup of tea and am half way through. I'm 56 this year, and so much of what you discussed together, I can relate to with my life encounters with friends, jobs and the need to build your own community and family. Very pleasant discussion. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful friendship. You are both so lovely. ❤
Kylie, thanks so much for letting us in on your intriguing conversation! 👏 Listening to you two intelligent, articulate, well traveled besties sharing your wisdoms about relationships, is both fascinating & validating to say the least! 💃🏻💃🏻
Grazie mille, bella Kylie. 💕
Long live your poetic and soulful sisterhood friendship. That was such a joy to watch.
"I'll never be the dumper". I feel just the same 🤩 Lovely conversation.. thank you.
Kyle, very good visit. Your Friend is Beautiful, inside and out. Makes me wish i were younger. I too have traveled the World as a photographer. Meeting all those NEW people, was Great.
That special friend is that person who touches ur heart.....and you don't let them go.....ever....
Thank you, Kylie! ❤ In the midst of being so impressed with your skills as a new mom, ruin renovator, interior and exterior designer, construction demo worker, chef and gardner, I had lost track of what a fantastic interviewer you are. It was a joy watching you two get caught up and seeing a snapshot of your humanitarian experiences in various corners of the globe as well as your adventures in finding locations that fit you well. Tania (sp?) is a delightful spirit offering so many wonderful things to our world. It's no wonder you became fast friends and have stayed connected.
Your discussion affirmed my vision to spend more time in Italy now that I am retired. A grand experiment doing just that starts in early October. The way your work captures the spirit of that place kept it's spirit alive in me while the pandemic curtailed Italy travel. What you do and how you do it really matters, Kylie! Grazie Grazie Grazie.
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
☮️😘🇺🇲🇮🇹🌈
I just love your guest! Please have her on again.
As an American expat living in France for 20 years I could totally relate to this discussion. Thanks
I admire the courage of those that pack and move to a different country, I feel I may have missed this as now I'm in my 60's
But to drive to Italy, from what country? Wow I am impressed. Now I wished I'd done that younger!
We don’t see things as they are; we see things as WE are (I hope I’m quoting that correctly). Places will give us a different experience each time we visit because we are different each time we are there . That was a wonderful conversation between you two ladies. I really enjoyed it!
So much to say. I always encourage young women to travel. It opens your mind to new cultures, history, art, cuisine. If you stay open, be polite and patient and make people feel happy to have met you, well that's just everything. There is no end to what can happen. Friendships are best fed by equal participation. This was my favorite conversation. Thanks Kylie and Tanya!
Live where your dog is happy. They're never wrong.
Loved the conversation. Beautiful friends, beautiful friendship. Beautiful souls💕
💕 Thank you 💕
Loved the discussion! Moved to a new country in my 60s and can relate to much of your insights. ❤
Well I thoroughly enjoyed this girl talk 🥰... as someone who was a child of immigrants, have lived in many countries, navigated fleeting friendships and ways of living... for a long time a footloose life where you never quite feel at home where you are because your mind harks back to this and that place.... and yet often you're able to feel at home anywhere. So many lessons learned, that those rooted in one place never can grasp. It's complicated, but I have no regrets at all, my world has been big.
🥰🥰🥰🥰
@@KylieFlavell 😉
Truly relate with you it has been my life too, and I have no regrets at all.
@kylieflavell This topic is all to familiar, enjoyed listening to this chat between two friends. More like it would definitely be welcomed ❤️
Blessings
Thanks for this. Resonates so much. My story is so similar to Tanya’s, nice to hear from someone who’s on a similar path. From the corporate world, to leaving it all behind & living all over the world, to returning to the UK in the pandemic with my dog, starting my own business, to planning my next move to Europe, based on giving my wee dog the best life! 😂 I’ve also felt more lonely on a sunny busy day in Sydney than I have on my own in a remote cottage.
Wishing you all the best on your journey. 🙏💜
Hello Joanna. So glad you liked it. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love how you base your situation on giving your wee dog her/his best life! They are truly our best friends, full of love, loyalty and devotion. The least we can do for our precious companions during their much shorter lives---is to make their life the best we can. Much respect to you ♥
Thank you for another thoughtful, intelligent video. I wanted to pull up a chair and a glass of wine and sit and chat with you ladies. It was just lovely. Kudos to you for producing not only beautiful, artistic work, but real tangible meaningful pieces like this. We need more content like this in our world these days ❤
It takes a long time to grow an old friend… ❤
I’ve missed these long conversations type of content!!!
Great conversation with serious-minded guest❣️
I can relate to everything you ladies discussed. I have moved to several cities in the US and now find it hard to fit in due to reasons you mentioned. Part of me really envies the people who have a family and core group of friends to go thru life with. I now feel like the outsider looking in the window hoping to be invited in but rarely am. And if I am, I am more for entertainment about my solo moves and travels. I enjoy meeting new people but the relationships are very on the surface and then become sad because I don't have that friend you can call any hour and who understands you.
I've lived in my current city for 13 years and now have cancer. Most people have not responded with an offer of even simple help. You find the people who help during difficult times are not those you expect would. I kind of want to find a new city and die alone there where I really know no one rather than in a place I have spent many years and have no strong relationships. Your time in life also makes a difference when you are on your journey. Younger times I had more connections but then I am single and others got married and have children so we are from different world.
I give you credit for your journey and your awareness to what works for you and what doesn't. I always wanted to move to the MidWest and marry in to a tight family. That didn't pan out as I thought it would. I need to embrace the journey I am on instead. The grass is not always greener they say!
I wish you well. So sorry for your disappointment-it makes you sad I’m sure. Hopefully you find friendship and a quality relationship soon. Perhaps in a cancer support group or even in a surprise encounter. Sadly people who have loving families don’t always think of those who don’t. You are loved.
Heading off to Madrid and hoping she is sitting in a cafe with her cute dog and me having a coffee and catching her smile every now and then.❤
Thank you Kylie for this episode, I really enjoyed it. You said it Kylie, you are lucky to have such a good friend, Tania is a true treasure of a friend, she is so sweet, smart and funny. She reminds me of my aunt Linda that lives in Florida. Also you are right about Americans being chatty, it seems everywhere I go, I start chatting with people , I guess I am a people person. I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your time together, you guys look like you are having lots of fun together, especially with having her dog Nelson there. ( my brother had a dog named Nelson as well. Also, your baby is so cute, even if we only got to see him from the back, God bless your family. Waiting for your next episode, as always.
What a beautiful friendship! Moving from NZ to France where I know no one in 2 weeks so this feels like a very well timed video!
Goodluck with everything 🙏🏻 I studied in Lyon and loved it. Mis it very often.
Thank you! I'm very excited for a new adventure!@@userl697
Beautiful talk 😊 thank you for another beautiful video
Absolute favorite episode. Thank you so much for sharing!❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Its 4am UK time, I'm wide awake and have just watched this very interesting video, thoroughly enjoyed the chat, thank you both! -It resonates on many levels, old friendships I chose to let go of, i lived in Sardinia for 7 years, then felt the need to come back to the Uk, but my current inner 'fight' is whether to go back to my family town that has changed and grown beyond recognition of how it was when i loved it when living there. I feel it is literally calling me at times, but i still remember how much i disliked it on the last visit, and also the one before that....we shall see what i decide! Thanks again your conversation has certainly got me thinking on it again!
So good to see you back in your element, Kylie !
I love Nelson . Dog people are the best people. Wonderful episode thanks Kylie so happy to get some enlightenment on issues that are evident in our lives.❤
He was so patient, waiting over an hour while we chatted. 🐶
I agree...I would also add cat people. Felines and their admirers, are awesome as well.
Beautiful Nelson and beautiful conversation❤❤❤
Kindred spirits. What a blessing to have each other! This episode was so uplifting and special. Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend💗
Love your girlfriends friendship. It’s beautiful!
Wow! I found myself mesmerised by your friend ❤
what a beautiful soul tanya is. and of course nelson is a sweetheart.
All you both said is so true and resonate with my past experiences- and always follow your cam because you never know what you can find!
😊😊😊
I liked your chat and your views on this topic. I like deep conversations. ❤️ Tanya is deffinitely a geninuine person, and a real humanitarian. What a beautiful view on hills as always, beautiful Tuscany.
She is indeed very genuine. 🥰
@@KylieFlavell yes genuine,🙂
Thank you for this beautiful conversation. I too am a child of immigrants and live as an immigrant. Finding friends for life in a place that you were not born in and came to as an adult is challenging. I have always found that even if I do not have loads of freinds, when one moved away, another was provided. I am lucky. I thank you for filming this conversation, I found value in it. Thank you for sharing part of your friendship with many. Wishing you a lovely week.
So beautiful listening to you two dear friends chatting❤
Thank you for such an intimate and honest conversation. Ou both are truly inspiring. 🙏
Beautiful conversation. 💗
As an outsider looking in I think I see that you are surrounded by very decent people such as this young lady and then your male friend some episodes back. I can't help thinking you are definitely a multi talented young lady in that you can be Opera & Nigella Lawson and more.
I thoroughly enjoyed your conversation. It stirs thoughts of my own travels and how meaningful, in varying ways, each has been. I never looked at how the multiple stays to each place was unique from the other stays. You have given me the prospect of many hours of interesting contemplation as well as renewed appreciation for where I live now. Grazie mille!
Ciao Kylie! New Patreon Member! I believe begins 1, sept! Very happy to be here!
Much love, 💐💐✌🏽❤x
Thank you so much for your support! I really appreciate it. 😘😘😘😘😘
What a beautiful and positive friendship you have. There was so much I could relate to with what you chatted about having lived in a few countries. I encourage my children to do the same, to grow by going outside your comfort zones… the first step is probably the hardest. Thank you for articulating & sharing your experiences, adventures and joys in life.
So happy you could relate to it. 🥰
Very nice talk. I loveTanya's view that "dog people are the best". One of my "laws to keep me out of trouble" (seriously!) is: don't trust people who dislike animals, especially dogs and cats.
Thanks Kylie and Tanya!
I wanted this conversation so much for so long ❤ so deeply necessary ❤
♥️♥️♥️ So happy to read this.
I LOVED this one so much!!!! I love all of your videos! You hit on so many relevant aspects of life, Kylie, always lovely, real, and entertaining.
What lovely conversation and an amazing friendship. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Lovely conversation. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you for watching. 😘
amazing friendship...💗💗
What a beautiful friendship ❤
Great chat and so many amazing experiences ❤
What a nice person I'm a cancer and can chat to anyone but I like doing things on my own holidays eating out theatre so on but I find it sad that people in England hold their phones like babies people say to me a lot you're so brave doing your things on own I don't think so I like it i feel like Alice in Wonderland or wonderlust
Very timely- thank you Kylie.
Such a lovely and inteligent woman! I enjoyed this conversation so much
Thank you a lot❤ This video gives hope❤
I loved this episode and find your 1:1 videos with others quite inspiring. I recently went back and re-watched “the dolce vita diaries” series and each one has had an impact on me. Keep the good vibes coming!
What a great conversation. I have traveled a lot on my own and loved in other countries on my own so can really relate to these sentiments. Loved listening in. Thank you! ❤
Enjoyed this!
Thank you for sharing this lovely conversation - it’s very therapeutic to review life choices and how it all weaves together and apart ❤🙏🏼🦋
I always enjoy your channel and this chat was exactly what I needed to hear! Tanya is a gem (you are too) and I see why you two have remained friends.
I have been a tumbleweed for the last 5 years due to multiple reasons, including retiring from a 20 year profession, and I wish to find a place where I fit in and can feel a part again.
I saw Frozen with my granddaughter years ago but didn't watch the sequel, maybe now is the time to watch it.
a wonderful girlie get together. Thanks so much for sharing this fabulous video xxxxxx
Absolutely lovely! ❤️🌸💖🌺
I really resonated with this conversation. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼🙏🏼
This totally resonates with me! I so enjoyed spending time with you ladies ❤️🌹
she has such beautiful energy! as do you Kylie!!
Im going through this right now. 23 years old, working as a travel nurse. Although I love to travel, I have days I crave friendships where we can see each other regularly! My best friend is in the Middle East and my boyfriend is in France. It’s so hard to establish permanent relationships when you move around a lot! But no regrets 💜
Nelson is precious!
So restorative during life's journeys to have such friendships. Thanks for sharing. Comforting to know the feel good factor governs decisions. So much in common it's uncanny.
Loved every minute of this especially the Nelson bit🐾 he is the sweetest boy!
Loved this conversation ❤
You both are just so amazing people!!! Thank you Kylie for sharing this with us❤
Thank you. This is beautiful.
😘😘😘
This was a great chat to listen to :-)
You are really great at conversations, you give a certain sth to the conversation
Thank you for watching. 😊
I really love everything you do, cooking, renovating, and this type is so enjoyable. I look forward to see what you've created for us every week. Thank you so much, this was a very good one.
Thank you for appreciating my work. 🙏🏼
I absolutely loved this video.
I'm so glad! 😊
A lovely chat with a friend can be healing, powerful and wonderful at the same time!
So true ♥️
Thank you for sharing Tanya with us, she is lovely and without realizing it, she gave me validation. What I discovered when traveling alone is that so many people invite you to join them. Beautiful friendship.
Thank you for this video, Kylie! It couldn't have come at a better time. I would also love to get the recipe for the gluten free tiramisu! I'm newly Celiac in an area with very few safe food options and learning to cook with your videos, many of which are easy to make gluten free, has helped me take back control over my life. ❤
You need to explore what calls you …. That inspirational curiosity that makes life so exciting… love that ladies… words to live by …. And the question always is are you brave enough to answer the call or will you wave it away like a pesky fly? 😊❤
There are so many valuable takeaways from your engaging conversation! The topic of introversion vs. extroversion has always been one that's been of interest to me. Shyness is often equated with introversion and a person who is socially outgoing is often equated with extroversion, while, in truth, it's more about how one feels internally after being in a social setting. I think you nailed it on that point in your conversation.
Living in different cities, as one who has been nomadic within the U.S., is another interesting topic. Having lived and worked in NYC in my early 20s vs. living and working there now would be completely different experiences. One's tolerance for noise and crowds often changes with age (I'm less able to absorb it now, in middle age) as does many other aspects of different cities, suburbs and rural areas. I'm in a capital city now, but it's not the busiest city in my state (thank goodness) and it's fine at this time in my life. There's certainly nothing wrong with making these changes as we evolve as individuals.
Thank you both for the thought-provoking conversation!
I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I wanted to wait until I could listen to this interview podcast-style while working. Tanya echoed so many of my own thoughts and feelings about living abroad, moving from place to place, making friends in new cities, feeling nostalgic about the past, and not wanting to let any relationship go (also, I'm a fellow Cancer!). Thank you to you both for sharing your unique perspectives on the nomadic lifestyle and how that's shaped you into the women you are today xx
My father was in the military...we moved every few years, overseas a couple of times....Wouldn't have changed it for the world. Meeting new people, and learning other cultures. My siblings are my best friends.
Divine, divine, divine! 🥰
Thank you for this enjoyable, honest and open girl talk💞🌈
Haa this reminds me of when I lived in Manhattan, L.A., Mexico and in Germany etc.. Once a week I would take time out for myself as I was working all the time in NYC to have a proper steak in Soho a glass of red wine and sit at a table all by myself. I would do this often just to people watch and not "go out". I like this chat session so much Kylie you are both are lucky to have each other. I agree you have to find the place that resonates with you NYC resonated with me for a certain time in my life but it was too safe. I am from Ca., so NYC seemed too safe, insular surprisingly in a city full of tourists it could also feel very town like if you were a local which was ok and that part I liked but it could be very lonely too even though I knew people as everyone like myself worked all the time. It just wasn't much of a life. I liked Spain when I stayed there but I agree with Tanya you can never relive those experiences you had the first time. Now I want to visit places I have never been in Spain but Italy also calls me too. I would like a place that feels like a retreat and yet I could build an inclusive community. My ancestors came from Spain so that is a natural fit :) . Right now I have 1 person I know in Italy 1 in Germany 1 in England a few in France and Spain etc. but really Italy and Spain really call to me. I speak Spanish and German but I swore this summer I would get started on my Italian language classes online. What is strange is I can read Italian pretty well and understand a bit because I know Spanish but spoken I am kinda lost. lol Gosh thank you so much for sharing Tanya with us! She is so open and vulnerable (I just LOVE HER!) yet at the same time she is super ballsy and lives her life to the fullest. I am truly surprised no one has snatched her up. If she came to the U.S. the guys would love her here. Watching both you and Tanya makes me feel like I am living a half life in Ca.. Ahhh I need to start plotting strategically. Gosh I wish there were good language retreats for adults abroad the way there are for young college kids. x
I live in Hawaii for half the year and then spend most of the other half in France, Italy, and UK. It’s a nice lifestyle for me since like you guys I have been a global vagabond for most of my 62 years (ok you’re a lot younger). I would just warn people that choosing a city or country because you think it will pull you out of some funk or help you forget some relationship mess you have been through, sort your self and/or your life first before you embark. I am always suspicious of people who are new arrivals. Even “paradise” has its challenges and if you go to that idyllic place in a mess your problems will often only get worse because you may have no support base there.
Very good point! As the adage goes: "Wherever you go, there you are."
Good friends are a gift and a blessing❣️🥰💕 Being a part of my Messianic congregation has given me a loving second family. Having a meal with my family every two weeks is very nice. I don’t do astrology any more because it is spiritually dangerous. God bless you ❣️🙏🏻💕❤️💕
Beautiful friendships are priceless! BTW what kind of dog is Nelson?
Buongiorno buonasera hello my loves Kylie Guido Gianfranco and enchante to your lovely friend Tanya listening to your experiences of travel friendships forever ones or transient such is the measure of life so enchanting Tanya is so wise a warm soul Kylie you bring out the sunshine in people friendships that ignite your soul are the keepers 🥰💜I too enjoy my quiet alone times for reflection creativity but I also adore people stimulating company grazie mille I shall rewatch a fabulous enlightening share with lifelong friends Nelson a devoted loyal friend Guido just loving the tiramisu alla prossima Amore💖💖😘😘👌👌🌟🌟
