This is episode 180 of The Astrology Podcast, with astrologers Chris Brennan, Kelly Surtees, and Austin Coppock.

I thought Pisces was ruled by the planet of Neptune - the planet of illusions. Due to the fact that Pisces tend to live in their own world of fantasy.

I am a capricorn that held myself back. There is a feeling or a shadow that does make you feel like it may not succeed. I talked myself out of my passion for years. One day I just did it and didnt look back. Fellow caps you can do it! And you will succeed! It's in our nature.

As an astrology beginner, this is literally candy for my mind. Thank you soooooooo much for this two part series! 🙏
I wish the deep healing function of Scorpio would have been named (the ability to fearlessly be in and witness to pain and grief). Scorpio can rise from the ashes like no other sign- they can model for the rest of us profound courage, compassion, and soulfulness. Also, the potential to be real and authentic around them is also quite profound. Anyhow, maybe I’m just being a balanced and contrary Libra with a double Scorpio mom.
You 🎯 some very important qualities. (I'm a Scorpio rising, with Gemini Sun and Mercury in the 8th house) On one point you made (potential to be authentic around) ...most of my life I really didn't get why others would bother to lie to me or pretend around me, I can handle (without upset) anything you want to tell me if it's the truth, and I can see and accept the real you so, why bother lying or pretending?
I think transformation would be more of a Pluto thing and in classic astrology they don’t focus on the outer planets as much.

Sometimes Scorpio ♏️ is the abuse of the Pain. It’s part of their karmic soul contract. Sort of like Pisces ♓️ taking the hit with learning how to construct healthy boundaries in this lifetime. Scorpio has to learn to trust more and Pisces ♓️ be more discerning in who we trust.
@@janellc900 the flip side is that sometimes Scorpio energy is too busy looking for the lie to see another’s authenticity. Personally, I find some Scorpios dominant folk are quite hard to be genuine with for this reason.
I think Libra, being the scales, is extremely sensitive to the presence-absence axis. So while more straightforward signs like Aries and Taurus are concerned with what's present in the here and now, Libra's first instinct is to sense what's missing. And to balance the scales, Libra will step in the represent the missing pieces. So in their attempt to bring balance and harmony, they often appear deceptively contrarian 😭
I agree with this. The natural inclination to balance things is extremely exhausting fs.
It takes a huge amount of understanding, imagination, and just plain work to know what is missing. It’s deeply intellectual.

As a Libra, I was beginning to feel misunderstood and possibly dismissed as a stereotype until Austin spoke up for the sign. Thank you, Austin. Libras are intellectual seekers. Not wimpy, irritating, suck ups who don’t know what they want for dinner. We are much sharper and rigorous than we let on. We can absolutely differentiate the finer details on topics most people can’t seem to grasp at all. We just don’t want to upset you with that fact. That said, the more trivial the choice, the harder it is to make a decision. The outcomes or consequences are vaguer. Also.There are never just two sides to anything - the view from the Libra decision desk is not just two screens, it’s more like being inside a disco ball of views. All those possibilities are nuanced, but we can absolutely make a choice once the contender shows itself well enough for us to understand the outcome of it.

I always say the same thing! I can be indecisive about dinner because it’s also not usually an intense concern of mine but I can be incredibly decisive about life plans or things with real consequences. I also think us weighing all the options is viewed by others as being indecisive but it’s usually just that it can take us a bit longer while we do that. We love to be concerned with intellectual pursuits, debates, thought, etc. I’m also quite proud of our sense of justice and being able to think about how others may feel in a given situation.

These are my ideas of each sign, condensed:
LIBRA: Desires harmony in relationships. Learns how to transform inner/outer discord and dissonance into consensus, resonance and fairness.
SCORPIO: Penetrates into the depths of everything/one meaningful to their soul. The epitome of soul searching. Learns how to transform poisonous/degenerative things into renewed, fulfilling ones.
SAGITTARIUS: Seeks some form of higher freedom, aspiration, vision and purpose to fill their life. Loves to explore. Learns how to funnel their lower instincts into serving their higher will.
CAPRICORN: Takes ideals and makes them real and concrete in the world. Brings purpose out of the internal and into the external as a way to contribute to society. Learns how to move away from being formed by matters, and into being the former of those matters. Comprehends the strengths and weaknesses of authority.
AQUARIUS: Goes a step beyond the present state and seeks a futuristic solution that can revolutionize outdated paradigms for the benefit of all. Seeks unity. Learns how to move away from the dangers of groupthink and into the honoring of each individual's natural talents as their way of contributing to the whole.
PISCES: Completely relinquishes any need for boundaries and groups and categories, to see everything is one. Seeks communion. Learns the difference between being consumed, resignation and freefalling vs being connected, surrender and finding footing to move fluidly/elegantly.

These two videos were so good, I've just finished listening to them in full twice and have no doubt I'll be back a third time, the nuances of each sign were so interesting.
Beauty of this concept is that sign archetypes are discussed through three lenses of knowledge and experience. Such a valuable episode, as well as Part 1. Looking forward to seeing three of you together again!
I am dying to know what makes Chris laugh! He is always so composed. He reminds me of a very cap ruled friend I had a while back who never changed their facial expression but once in. Blue moon would explode in laughter about something and not be able to stop!

As a person with four planets in Sag, including my sun, I can say their assessment of Sag in terms of its impulse to become mythical is extremely accurate in my case. In fact, I have a strong resistance to Austin's statement that "centaurs are not real", because, for all intents and purposes, I am one. I am both a horse archer (my teacher is another Sag) and a mythologist. So I guess they really hit the nail on the head!

Ahhh, Chris - finally you brought up fixed water as being ice - I’ve not heard an astrologer yet come up with fixed water as ice - which it literally is - my thought all along. Scorpio Sun, rising, mercury -& Aries moon here - rather Mars heavy. But Scorpio’s are very good at being “icy” and icing others out....thanks for the depth of these discussions.

I found the explanations quite useful regarding why it makes sense that Pisces, as a water and mutable sign, would be ruled by Jupiter rather than Neptune. I'm loving this content - thanks so much guys! I had the feeling that somehow Scorpio wasn't given quite the intensity that it deserves. As I see it with a strong emphasis of Scorpio in my chart, the nature of the scorpion's poison and how that relates to the Scorpio archetype seems very important. A kind of deep emotional wound or poison, and an intensity, draws the Scorpio to encounter depths of darkness, disowned elements, shadows, and maybe even monsters that are crucial to transforming emotional contents into something positive, rather than destructive. For this reason, there is a close connection with crisis and renewal, and therefore death and even healing, and therefore trauma also.
The relationship to poison, and this process of death and renewal, grants a sort of power which can help or hinder the self and the other. I think the sexual link is also valid, given that sexual union is a form of death of the self.
Also, in terms of the nuance of fixed water and Mars, the types of deep emotion encountered can lean towards resentment, bitterness, festering anger, and Martian qualities turned towards the Self as if Mars has been buried and fixed below. So I think there's a deep resilience mixed with a deep vulnerability, and as Chris said, an awareness of weakness in the self and other, which means that Scorpio does well to find away to relate to the darker elements in a constructive way and not a destructive way - but it can hang in the balance!

As a Libra, I agree with Austin on the point about intellectual curiosity. It's one of my most dominant characteristics. Kudos on the Clive Barker & Hellraiser reference! Nightmares to this day!
I love the way u described Aquarius. I have 2 planets here and its my asc & i get tired of ppl giving me Uranus description of being weird, kooky, & rebellious and im nothing like that.
I’m a few years listening to the podcast, but this was an earlier episode. I’m glad it’s up to rehash my understanding of the qualities and sign archetypes.
