I remember a time
My frail, virgin mind
Watched the crimson sunrise
Imagined what it might find
Life was filled with wonder
I felt the warm wind blow
I must explore the boundaries
Transcend the depth of winter's snow
Innocence caressing me
I never felt so young before
There was so much life in me
Still I longed to search for more
But those days are gone now
Changed like a leaf on a tree
Blown away forever
Into the cool autumn breeze
The snow has now fallen
And my sun's not so bright
I struggle to hold on
With the last of my might
In my den of inequity
Viciousness and subtlety
Struggle to ease the pain
Struggle to find the same
Ignorance surrounding me
I've never been so filled with fear
All my life's been drained from me
The end is drawing near...
[III. Carpe Diem]
"Carpe diem
Seize the day"
I'll always remember
The chill of November
The news of the fall
The sounds in the hall
The clock on the wall
Ticking away
"Seize the Day"
I heard him say
Life will not always be this way
Look around
Hear the sounds
Cherish your life
While you're still around
("Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
(Old Time is still a-flying;)
(And this same flower that smiles today)
(Tomorrow will be dying")
We can learn
From the past
But those days
Are gone
We can hope
For the future
But there might not be one
The words stuck in my mind
Alive from what I've learned
I have to seize the day
To home I returned
Preparing for her flight
I held with all my might
Fearing my deepest fright
She walked into the night
She turned for one last look
She looked me in the eye
I said, "I Love You...
Good-bye"
("It's the most awful thing you'll ever hear")
("If you're lying to me...")
("Oh, you dearly love her")
("...just have to leave...)
(All our lives")
("Seize the day!")
("Something happened")
("Gather ye rosebuds while ye may")
("She was killed")
[IV. The Darkest Of Winters]
[Instrumental]
[V. Another World]
So far or so it seems
All is lost
With nothing fulfilled
Off the pages and the
T.V. screen
Another world
Where nothing's true
Tripping through
The life fantastic
Lose a step
And never get up
Left alone
With a cold blank stare
I feel like giving up
I was blinded by a paradise
Utopia high in the sky
A dream that only drowned me
Deep in sorrow, wondering why
Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what
Don't let him be
Let's feed upon his misery
Then string him up for all the world to see
I'm sick of all
Your hypocrites
Holding me at bay
And I don't need
Your sympathy
To get me through the day
Seasons change and so can I
Hold on Boy
No time to cry
Untie these strings
I'm climbing down
I won't let them push me away
Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what
Don't let him be
Let's feed upon
His misery
Now it's time for them
To deal with me
[VI. The Inevitable Summer]
[Instrumental]
[VII. The Crimson Sunset]
I'm much wiser now
A lifetime of memories
Run through my head
They taught me how
For better or worse
Alive or dead
I realize
There's no turning back
Life goes on
The offbeaten track
I sit down with my son
Set to see the Crimson Sunset
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
Many years have come and gone
I've lived my life, but now must move on
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
He's my only one
Now that my time has come
Now that my life is done
We look into the sun
"Seize the day
And don't you cry
Now it's time
To say good-bye
Even though
I'll be gone
I will live on
Live on"
"Sorry about the short set". James was joking about them playing for almost 4 hours. I believe Mike Portnoy needed IV fluids after this show.
I know I am kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Kai Willie thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) I appreciate it!!
@Will Duncan Glad I could help xD
This is the definitive version of this song. It's not perfect throughout, but LaBrie kills all the emotional moments and that's what makes the difference. "I'm sick of..." is a phenomenal climax.
Whenever I hear people say Petrucci plays with no feeling, or he can only shred, I think of so many moments like 18:56 - 20:48!!! He is the master at taking you on an emotional journey and building a solo to a satisfying climax. His chops just take it over the edge unlike some guitarists who build but leave you wanting more. Yes, Petrucci will give you a happy ending. 😂
Does this mean you like Petrucci?
Petrucci, in my opinion is the greatest guitar player that can shred your face off and then sends you on a journey filled with emotion, leaving you with tears dripping from your eyes.
Kristjan Bahun - GOAT!
Only deaf people can say that ;)
Thankfully I don’t think too many people say he has no feeling like they used to. I used to hear them say it more back in the days of ToT, since his solos on that album were more shreddy than usual. But to anyone who does still say it, they are totally wrong! Petrucci is a melodic master and he carries so much emotion in his solos.
Couple more times... oh boy hehe. I always say this, the best thing about some of the DT epics is that you can listen to them a 100 times and still discover something new every time. A particular note or audio track/instrument under the surface or some other minor detail that catches your ear and just raises the song to another level again and again. Can't wait for the new album and tour next year... not to mention the introduction of 8 string guitars to DT music, apparently.
I just thought of a Dream Theater song you must watch!!!! React to Beyond This Life (Live at Budokan)!!!!!! They go into a solo improv that blows the mind! Portnoy and Petrucci especially!
Brandon Hagler - Yes yes yes yes. Do it, Dutchman!!!
Oh yeah that is a sick improv if I recall! !! man this band has so much influence on me over the years!
And rudess to
Dream theater the count of tuscany live high voltage
Honestly though. Beyond This Life live at Budokan next. It has such an amazing middle section. What a show.
Next: Dream Theater : Beyond This Life / Live In Budokan REACTION !!!!!!
Chromee are you crazy he will not be able to speak after 😂 heart attack right away

Dream Theater
Perfection. What else can one say.
Thanks again for sharing this wonderful song with us all. 😎
Listen to Dream Theater Metropolis Part 1, you WILL love it.
I simply adore this song.. major chills in the slow section near 10:00!
Old DT was FIRE!
Epic. This was their encore last year and was so cool to see live!
So many goosebumps , so glad you saw this ❤️
As other comments suggested, Beyond This Life Budokan Live is pretty incredible, the added solo section really shows off the chemistry between the band members, I think you'll love it.
LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!
love this song. and love this song in this show.
Such a beautiful song, my favourite!
I enjoy the faces you make when music becomes eargasmic.!
Wow! Thank you to take me into this journey. Years ago I bought their CD. I was blown away then. This live show was even better then what I heard on CD.
amazing song, great reaction, tnx ruben
I have been to DT concert twice. Had a chance to watch them from very front row once and believe me, you won't forget that night ever again. I can't even explain how unforgettable for me to have Petrucci looking into my eyes, we both do that nodding at eachother as he continues shredding his guitar during his solo. So please, do not miss it if they ever come to NL. You won't regret it :)
Best song ever. I'd give everything to listen to this song for the first time
I love, A Change of Season from the first i hear it back in 2002, watch this at my friend home. Later I realize, about the CD cover ACOS album. On the front side, boy in the winter. On the back the boy actually being old in the autumn.
First DT song I ever heard, back in 2001, Apeldoorn... cheers
This is music
I still have this DVD, collecting dust in the closet. I believe this is their best song, and my personal favorite of theirs.
parabéns, super música... curtindo seu canal desde o Brasil.
Another joyful reaction and set of thoughts there buddy.. From one human being and friend to another, I will say that if next time you feel like not going to see them, for whatever reason, then I will coax you out of that idea with three words.. Strapping Young Lad. Take care for now man! **^^**
Easily one of my favorite songs. Not just Dream Theater songs, but in general, and not only musically, but lyrically as well. I don't always care that much about lyrics, what matters to me is the music. But this song has really strong lyrics as well as an added bonus. There are parts in here that touches me deeply. One of the dangers when writing really long songs, is that parts may sound like they don't really fit in or don't make sense. But this is so well written that you don't get that feeling even for a split second. Every part compliments eachother and feels like natural parts of the puzzle, yet they contrast eachother in style and emotion. To me, that's the sign of true genius at work.
Oh my god YES!!!!!
check on this live also Erotomania.. it's amazing!
ahh thanks ruben i love your reacts DT is a band that never ceases to amaze and i don't give up please react to dream theater the count of tuscany :) Greetings from Colombia :P
Ruben, my man, I took a short break from youtube this august but man, what a welcome back ahaha! I always enjoy your content and I missed you during my holidays ;)
Anyway, I don't know if you'll ever read this comment, but let me tell you that you're the only reaction channel that I follow, because you actually LISTEN and FEEL the song, without overtalking. Keep it up man, and thanks so much for reacting to this song, one of my favourite by Dream Theater...well, one of my favourite at all :D This song means a lot for me and I'm happy you liked it! For the next Dream Theater prog saturday I suggest you Raise the knife live Score, if you can find some quality video, otherwise try Sacrificed sons :)
Greetings from Italy!
Oh wow, someone else who appreciates Raise the Knife :) They cut that song from Falling into Infinity, but I'm glad they played and recorded it live for the Score dvd.
bin Iive there 3 times
Masterpiece 😍🤘
You should really check out OSI. Kevin Moore from Dream Theater, Jim Matheos from Fates Warning, and on the first two albums, Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater on drums, and Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree on the last two albums.
One of the best live clips DT ever recorded.
Fucking awesome. Band
HOLY SHIT!!! never realized before but at 25:01 you can hear a hint of the intro of YTSE JAM!
It is actually a fortune in lies.
@@Dinozzo1995it's true! my bad!!
He mentioned me holy damn
Ruben, Ruben, Ruben..... I was listening to an interview with Mike Portnoy and he said if it wasn't for the Dutch and their initial support, Dream Theater would not be where they are today. So you are exactly right. You should be punished... severely!! lol.. I am so glad you pic videos to respond to and not just songs. Half the entertainment with Dream Theater is watching them play. Keep up the good work buddy.
Dream Theater - Under a Glas Moon live score!

"Learning to live" live at scene from new york
should reaction to some DT from their first major album 'When Dream and Day Unite'
Cire - Highly Specific
Estrum - The Game
This is my favourite song of all time. It's way too short
Please, reacts to Count of Tuscany or The Best of Times by Dream Theater.
I love the way Mike's expression: I hope I won't fuck it up for everyone's sake. He sacrifice his health for a good show.
Pause at 21:30, I think this sums up everyone's first reaction to this song.
This was the song that got me into DT until MP left
Hey dude!... Please React to something like Fates Warning...Expecificly The Light and Shade of Things.... and tell us, what do youthink about this band!!! Greetings from Costa Rica!!
Villagers Of Ioannina City - Ti Kako
I love this song.
They were a huge passion of mine when I was younger - unfortunately, "Black Clouds and Silver Lining" was their last really good record. Imho: Listen to studio versions by them. I don't hate on LaBrie, but he's pretty bad live. I've seen them live four times now and he actually ruins the shows nowadays... It's sad and I hate to admit it, but yea..
Btw: This track was the last of a 3 hour show, it's incredible!
Man, you have described my feelings with DT perfectly.
They practice Music Theory, they eat sleep and breathe music theory, that is how it is done when you learn theory it is like having a recipe or formula for what emotions you are trying to convey, they stand out because theory is not used very much anymore much less at the level that DT does.
This is, in my honest opinion, the last time LeBrie was truly great live.
Amen.
Love the fact that you're so open to listening to so many styles of music. I've only recently become a big fan of Dream Theater, but all their approaches are really fantastic. Here's one of MY favorites (with their new drummer Mike Mangini). It's called "Illumination Theory" - czcams.com/video/OaUbq3fghWQ/video.html
25 minutes of fine DT music. But will you have the balls for 40 minutes of 'Crimson' by Edge of Sanity???
Still the best DT song
Very good song!
Try Ozzy Osbourne: Mr. Crowley
i actually might prefer the 1993 version, although the recording isn't as good and labrie was kind of off that night. but this was an amazing performance as well, even after the food poisoning thing.
also the thing i like more about this version is how prominent rudess and myung are compared to other performances.
React to family man by blackfield mr buijs 😁
haha think all the requests for beyond this life is from the same person. great song tho...
Avenged sevenfold - a little piece of heaven live in LBC or lyric, bat country, afterlife, nightmare, M.I.A, buried alive, god damn, scream, almost easy, unholy confessions, second heartbeat
Slipknot - spit it out live download 2009, sick, left behind, sulfur, wait and bleed, the devil in i, 555 to the 666, psychosocial
You should not mention noobs in God level music reaction
Jordans hair has migrated to his chin.
Petrucci is GOD
Reacting? Man, you are just watching the show.
Bring back Portnoy..
They're good, but they're not Rush!
You're kidding, right?
Better than rush
Light years better than Rush
@@KingKong-xp6so okee dokee! thanks for the hearty laugh first thing in the morning!! lmao You're entitiled to your opinion - you're wrong, but entitled to it! lol
Octavarium and illumination Theory are better
Hahaha
barfyman362 yeah octavarium and illumination Theory make me laugh too because they're so good man
@@Gnathan96 you have bad taste
barfyman362 unfortunately it's you that has bad taste :(
Octavarium is on the same league, yes. But A change of seasons is so much better than Illumination Theory, fo my personal taste.
