I think Dick picked his colors originally to model it on his circus costume (though comics being comics, the details are inconsistent--in Batgirl Year One, Bruce tells Alfred that Robin wears those colors so people trust him, in contrast to Bruce's dark colors and bad cop (bat cop?) routine). Also his age varies wildly from story to story, sometimes he's as young as eight, in Frank Miller's run he was 12, sometimes he's a high schooler, in BTAS he's in college... very understandable that Batman doesn't know his age. It's pretty hard to keep it straight.

Robin has Bat-Thermal Underwear (I couldn't make this up if I tried) that's basically those things figure skaters wear to keep their legs warm I think. There's also another one of these comics where Robin complains to Batman why Batgirl has a whole ass motorcycle while he has to share the Batmobile, which could've been hilarious if it were voiced by lord jj.
It actually makes sense even without the speedo retcon. He's wearing a leotard, his parents were acrobats and that's a way of connecting with them even though they are dead. The first Robin to not have acrobat parents Tim Drake (Jason Todd's father before Crisis was an acrobat IIRC) ditched the leotard for pants.

Batgirl was actually a completely independent superhero for most of her career, basically butting into Batman and Robin's adventures as a mysterious ally. The Dynamic Duo never let her into the Batcave in the beginning, and they didn't even know she was Barbara Gordon for decades. Barbara even moved out of Gotham into Washington to become a US Congresswoman (this is not a joke) many years before she became an official member of the Bat-Family. Hey Solid JJ: I have an idea for a video. So, the Joker, Riddler, 2 Face, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Bane, & Poison Ivy (not voiced by anyone) team up to commit a crime & actually succeed because Batman doesn't show up. At 1st the villains all are happy that they actually got away with their crimes for once, but then they feel that it wasn't as fun without Batman trying to stop them. As the video goes on the villains all begin to mock each other over their gimmicks & realize that they enjoy working by themselves rather then as a group. By then end, they turn on each other fighting over who is the true arch nemesis of Batman. Then the joke at the end is that Batman & Robin are watching the villains fighting each other from a distance just enjoying the show.
for some reason I imagine it would end with some: "hey Batman wait, why are we waiting out here? I don't know Robin, solidjj wanted to make this video to which we can't refuse to do anything"

@@psicopaticduck A Death in the Family is the comic where the 2nd Robin, Jason Todd, was killed by the Joker (Before reviving years later and becoming Red Hood)
@@psicopaticduck One of the Robins got absolutely destroyed by the Joker and became an anti-hero with guns. So Zach is saying this is basically that transformation but without the brutal murder of Robin. Changed name to Red Hood if you want to google more info.
jason became a loser edgelord called the red hood
I think Dick picked his colors originally to model it on his circus costume (though comics being comics, the details are inconsistent--in Batgirl Year One, Bruce tells Alfred that Robin wears those colors so people trust him, in contrast to Bruce's dark colors and bad cop (bat cop?) routine). Also his age varies wildly from story to story, sometimes he's as young as eight, in Frank Miller's run he was 12, sometimes he's a high schooler, in BTAS he's in college... very understandable that Batman doesn't know his age. It's pretty hard to keep it straight.
Guess he just changed his mind here
@Regulus So he really is literally bait huh lol
Yeah, it's pretty hard for Batman to keep it straight.
I remwmber this one about how it was so Joker would see him more as a joke, to not take him "seriously" because then he would destroy the boy wonder.
I think the more concerning thing is Batman using an EIGHT YEAR OLD, as his number 2 in a violent profession
And after all that, Robin still threw the first punch. Some things never change.
ultimately rewatching this, I think I really appreciate this version of Batman was willing to talk it over and and try to come to an understanding...even with something he hates like guns...most versions of Batman would probably just hit him with my way or the highway...then gets shocked when they DO pick Highway...

The age change joke of Robin is actually referencing the fact that DC couldn't actually work out what the age gap should be between Robin and Batgirl. Brilliant.
I always assume Robin's slightly older but both are either teenagers or young adults, mostly because Robin is usually first and BG comes in later
would have been interesting to make barbara slightly older than him

@@nikeneon3188 A bit? let's stop making things sound different when it's a woman doing it folks. A 25 year old dude dating a 15-18 year old girl would be looked at as strange so we can look at it just as strange when it's a woman. We've allowed social ideology to sort of dictate certain aspects of our thinking which actually isn't healthy for society as a whole hence why females get lighter jail sentencing when they are perverts vs men, sentencing for the same crimes in general and many times get slaps on the wrist more often than men. People giggle at the fact that a 28 year old teacher was sleeping with 14 year olds in a News story but they're horrified when it's a 28+ year old dude doing the same, can we say they both deserve capital punishment and call it a day?

Damn, can't believe batgirl skinned a bat and stretched it to make a whole-ass suit.
Batman's character is developing. He's finally learning to communicate peacefully with those he cares about.
He has started talking to himself? I can't say I'm surprised.

“She got her own suit right off the bat”
The Joker: (respects the space they’re using for an important dialogue without pointing out the pun)
The takeaway: Batman and Robin understand that knowledge is the most dangerous weapon of them all.
Batman: “Okay Robin fine, less Batgirl on adventures”
Joker: “I can help with that!”
“Don’t f with robin, that guy got a gun” is what made me laugh my ass off
Fun Fact: Batman '66 comics actually explain the whole speedo thing.

To be fair, just because Robin wants a gun doesn't mean it needs to shoot bullets. He's Batman, he could probably come up with some sort of gadget that works as a fair compromise without going against his beliefs.
I mean, Alfred had a gun. And was definitely not afraid to use it!
Robin being like 25 but treated as a teenager is literally how it was in pre-crisis lmao.
Shut up! He's got a book!
Robin had nothing to worry about with her. Everything else though uh.... well, Dick Grayson *did* end up using guns along the line.
Wait when did Dick start using guns? I know Jason used guns plenty, but Dick?
@@Betrix5060 I know he became an agent for a brief time. Maybe that was when he used guns for a little bit
@@Bertiboy from what I recall, his time as agent Grayson still had him use escrima sticks and other stuff from his time as Nightwing rather than guns, I could be wrong tho as I only had one issue
He’s brandished guns during his Spyral arc, but I don’t think he used them very much/at all? And he carries one as a cop, but once again, he doesn’t use it unless all other options are exhausted, which is rare.
Barbara was a congress woman?

That sounds awesome
Hell yea
for some reason I imagine it would end with some:
"hey Batman wait, why are we waiting out here?
I don't know Robin, solidjj wanted to make this video to which we can't refuse to do anything"
Lol great idea
Joker: "I mean just look at riddler, He wasn't even good at this villain stuff until that one mo-"
Riddler: "Oh as if being taken serious for being a mass murderer and a terrorist is some thing to be proud of!"
In Batman and Robin’s defense, if I saw the Joker holding anything I would automatically assume it was a weapon.
These are getting better and better.
The thumbnail was enough to make me laugh. But this entire video is more than enough to make me die from laughter.
"I want a gun."
