    As soon as these came back in stock at Tower I ordered one and the next day they were out of stock. Almost done putting mine together but did have an issue with the door and window not closing so I modified it to my liking. I am also going electric on mine. Great video, great flying!

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks! Yes, I do use some mixing with flaps for the elevator. I usually "eyeball" it / use my gut for the first flight (a few millimeters for each notch of flaps) then tweak it from there after flying it. Your flaps will produce some pitch up moment though and this depends on the speed of the plane, so remember to test your flaps around mid-throttle.

    I really want this plane but the size puts me off,I have a pheonix models cessna 182 which has a 1.65 meter wingspan that's enough for me.I love the way this looks

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před 3 lety +1

      Honestly though the bigger they are, the easier and more fun they are to fly. If you do have access to an RC club its only natural I think that in time you'd want to try the bigger planes!
      My first "big plane" was the original blue Eflite Carbon Z Cub 2.1m. I got it in 2012 and had around 200 flights on it until I finally moved on. It was a lot of fun!

    What ESC and prop size are you using for this and do you have any idea how many amps you are drawing?. I believe that motor is supposed to only be rated for 65 A sustained.

    Is the Carbon Fiber Falcon propeller better than a wood one?

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před rokem

      Maybe. Wood is a little heavier. Carbon Fiber is lighter, giving a little more RPM and maybe more power I'd imagine.

    How much does that cost and where can you get it from? 😊

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před 3 lety

      The setup for this plane in electric was about $1,100. A gasoline setup would be about the same cost. Horizon Hobby's website still sells the almost ready to fly kit of this plane for $359. But just keep in mind that only gets you the core model of the plane- you still need to put it together and purchase the engine or motor, batteries, servos, receiver, etc. I've had 2 of these planes- both in electric and gasoline form. It's a solid size (90" inch wingspan) and looks pretty good too!

    How does it fly in the wind?

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před 2 lety

      I typically fly in the mornings or evenings, but this one does handle wind well. Most RC planes with good power will be able to handle wind since you can fly against it or power out of it. I wouldn't fly my old 80" Cub with a Saito 4 stroke nitro engine in anything other than a light breeze since it doesn't have very much power at all as that one is a vintage model.

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před 3 lety +1

      - Eflite Power 60 470kv brushless motor for this one. A few years ago I had another one which I put an RCGF 21cc twin gas engine on. Both work well but the brushless motor setup gives more power.

    Cost? Where purchase?

    • @michaelbackus7107
      @michaelbackus7107  Před 3 lety +1

      I believe this plane is still available from Horizon Hobby's website, its been out for about 3 years bow. Its about $350 for just the balsa model which is almost ready to fly- you just need to add electronics and either an electric motor setup or gasoline setup. One of my channels oldest videos has this same plane with a 21cc engine. A full setup is around $1,000 for this plane.

      @@rdekemper I would recommend the smaller foam planes to start with. The "bind and fly" models that are around 4 feet. They even have a "safe mode" or auto leveling mode. Easy to jump in to. Don't forget to get a good radio too.
