    My mother had a set of blue and white Cornishware, for eight. There were plates, mugs, cereal bowls, and she also had a teapot, cream and sugar, pepper and salt and I believe a few serving bowls. One day I was visiting and there was a whole new china set. I asked what had happened to the Cornishware and she said she gave it to a charity thrift shop and purchased something more modern. I almost wept, saying, "Why didn't you give it to me, if you were getting rid of it?" She thought I would find it too old fashioned. I would have loved to have had the Cornishware and of course, I now realize the monetary value to it.

    T.G Green & Co Ltd in Church Gresley, South Derbyshire were the original manufactures of blue striped Cornish ware 1864-2007 . Production of Cornish ware started in the early 1920s at the time known as E-blue .it employed in its hat day up to 1000 people .
    I am from a nearby village in South Derbyshire and remember TG green and it’s closure . I understood production was shipped abroad, it is great to see production of an old English brand coming back to England.

    Kirsten and Jeorg, I loved this video. I’m relatively new to your channel. I stumbled across it back in August when your video about your dream cottage, the Georgian gate house at the entrance to Wolterton Hall, was suggested. Intrigued, I decided to watch it and I’m so glad I did. It was delightful. I immediately subscribed to your channel, hit the notification bell (as one does) and I’ve been following your adventures at home, in the kitchen and out and about, ever since. Of course, I had to go back to the very beginning and catch up. I cannot express just how much I enjoy everything you do. Your videos fill me with such pleasure and inspiration and I enjoy the way you interact with each other and with us, your viewers. I had made a solemn promise to myself not to watch any of your Christmas videos until sometime in December. However, I recently succumbed to temptation and I’m so happy I did. A few days ago, I watched an older video in which you were decorating your Christmas tree and you put a wicker skirt at the base. I loved it and searched online and, I’m happy to say, I bought one today! It’s a good thing my resolve was weak and I broke that promise to myself. I want to thank you, with all my heart, for everything you do, and I look forward to your next video. Take care and bye for now🙂💕

    Thank you that was lovely and quite emotional for me to look into my grandad's life and work environment as he worked as head kiln stacker at T.G. Greens all his life from leaving school until his retirement at 65. They asked him to go back, so he went back until 75. He must have fired as it was called back then so much of this. My Memory as a child was of our house being full of Cornishware. I remember a big flour jar and one for loose tea and sugar. I did not see the salt and pepper pots as a mini lighthouse shape similar to the vases? I think they had a little lip overhang at the top and a slightly curved top. I only remember Yellow and blue, are the other colours a later development?
    My grandad passed when I was three [1971] so I can hardly remember him. I have two scarfs of his which I wear and cherish, which apparently he always wore and a trilby according to my parents.
    If anyone has or sees the little blackbirds with upstretched necks and open mouths in black with yellow beaks from Greens pottery they were for putting in pies to let out the steam through the pie crust, so the crust did not go soggy and collapse. Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. A big pie. These used to sit on the shelves in our pantry. Having A cuppa, Yorkshire of course.

      @paulwoodward6555 Před 7 měsíci

      @@KirstenJoerg I had a visit from my parents today now in their seventies and played them this post. It obviously brought back long forgotten memory`s particularly for my father, I think he was holding back a tear. He said he only went once with my grandad to his place of work to watch him and see what he did. He remembers him going up very tall step ladders carrying sanitary ware up on his shoulders into the top of the kiln as they were tall bottle kilns back then. He also said a lot of the women on the street worked there as the painters as they had smaller and generally a steadier hand. They have now gone home to rummage through old ornament boxes as they believe they still have some of it tucked away and forgotten about. He says he can remember the green colour being there from back then.

    Received my first shipment of Cornishware today in the 🇺🇸. I have been wanting to buy it for awhile so I was so happy to see it arrive today. I went on CZcams after unboxing my pottery and wanted to learn more about the process and the company. Your video was the first that came up. This is such a professional tour and recording. It looks like something they could have up on their website. Rebecca did a wonderful job with the tour and you all did a great job of filming and editing. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

    I loved this tour thank you so much! I love the little green Christmas decoration and might have to splurge on one this year. I have been thrifting here in British Columbia, Canada for over 45 years. Very seldom do I come across Cornishware...but about 5 years ago I found a gold and white original Cornishware 1 pint Dreadnought Jug for $6!!! It is a treasure for me indeed. 🤗 God bless...hellooooo Joerg where ever you are. 😁

      @@KirstenJoerg Finally got a chance to watch. My husband and I are on our honeymoon in Seychelles and there is barely any WiFi (I guess that’s a good thing.. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣). What a terrific tour of the pottery studio. You’ve inspired me to start a wee Cornishware collection. I, too, love crockery and find it very hard to resist! Thanks for another wonderfully relaxing, educational and entertaining video. Cheers!

    Dear Kirsten and Jörg, this was again an amazing and interesting video! Thank you so much! Love everything china and pottery ❤ again we look so much alike, Kirsten, I love all the pottery too and don’t have much space ( already have three kabinets full of pottery) and I have a magazine which I read every month, called Landleven, it is Dutch of course, but it is about countrylife, as I live in the country in a small castle. I love my cup of coffee in the morning, and in the afternoon a cup of tea.
    Love from the Netherlands ❤

    I am a pottery painter, and I have a small kiln at my home here in West Devon. I used to go around to WIs (Women's Institute) and have taken a children's party, where the customers paint the bisc (items that have been in the kiln for firing once) then I hand glaze them, and fire them in my kiln, which takes about 24 hours - 12 hours to fire, and 12 hours to cool down - then they are ready to be taken away. Rebecca was very clear and easy to listen to, and also showed us that she does it herself, with the dipping in paint process. I was married to Nicholas chandler, who now lives in Saville, Spain, and is re married, who is a fantastic furniture designer maker. Things that are hand made are so precious I feel. Thank you for this video Kirsten, so beautifully filmed by Joerg, and so well edited, as always, such a professional job. xxx
