The three-time Formula 1 world champion driver, Max Verstappen, shared his point of view on the permanence of his teammate, Sergio 'Checo' Pérez, in the Austrian Red Bull team.
During the Canadian Grand Prix, Verstappen was questioned by the media about the renewal of Checo's contract until 2026. The Dutchman was very pleased with the agreement reached.
“It is great news that Checo has signed with the team until 2026 and I am happy to be able to continue the successful partnership we have created,” Verstappen said. He highlighted that since Perez's arrival in 2021, they have formed a successful duo in Formula 1, dominating the series with the last two constructors' championships and achieving a historic 1-2 in the drivers' world championship in 2023.
“We achieved a record-breaking season in 2023 and the team is very strong with him, so we hope to build on this success also in the next two years,” Verstappen added.
