How to Watch YouTube in Your Car with Android Auto (and AAAD)

- Vehicles today have screens large enough to enjoy entertainment on. Yet few automakers successfully unlock that experience. AAAD, also known as Android Auto Apps Downloader, can help you use that built-in touch screen real estate in your car for more than just the basics.
Before we show you how to enable apps that might play video, let you browse the web, or do other things that you shouldn't be doing while driving, it's important to know that there is some modification required to your Android smartphone. If you're comfortable with doing things like installing unsigned apps outside of the Google Play Store, then please enjoy this cool way to enable some enhanced features that can make that wait at the charging station, shopping mall, or camping trip just a little more entertaining. And of course, please do not drive distracted.
Once you've installed AAAD, you should be able to install apps like CarStream, Fermata, Screen2Auto and other neat apps. The apps sit right inside the native Android Auto experience on your head unit, allowing you quick and easy access. There is no rooting involved, so the process is fairly noninvasive and can be reversed fairly easily. All you need is an Android smartphone with the latest updates and a vehicle that supports Android Auto.
The version we've shown is the free version. However, if you absolutely love what you've seen, you can support the developer by purchasing a pro version that unlocks even more options to enhance your in-vehicle entertainment and app experience. The download link to the app is below.

Thanks for this video. I had forgotten about AAAD and have a Niro EV, so when I saw you had a Soul EV I figured it was about time that I did this. The only "issue" I encountered was my AA version was 6.5 so all I had to do was download the APK for 6.6 and it works perfectly. Thanks again đ

Good video, however assuming that an open source application is inherently safer is a mistake. It has the potential to be, because you can audit the source (manually and/or by using tools) and then build your own binary from source or use a trusted distribution that signs their packages. This can make it less likely that nothing sneaks into the package, but open source alone is not a panacea. I've got too many concerns about installing an application not reviewed in Play Store or other app stores that can put apps onto my infotainment system. hmmm
if anyone sees this, whatever you do, don't pay for premium aaad. Had my card cloned through it and had ÂŁ300+ PlayStation network payments taken in relation to the aaad card payment
Did you report this to Github? The software is open source so I am sure someone would have spotted any malicious code. You can't pay for it through Google? I am guessing there are two ways to pay? What you are saying would mean someone involved with this app or at the very least connected to it or doing business with it is doing something shady. Is this what you think? You're positive the source of the charges was through this? I don't doubt what you are saying. Thanks for the heads up. Would you say the app maybe isn't safe then?
My antivirus scanned it. I double checked with anther one. So the app itself seems fine at least.

I was about to skip this video and give it a thumbs down cause I thought it was gonna be one of those other videos where they say it works but say that u need to download some apps to get the code but no other type of apps to download to get it to work so thanks it's worked perfect....
The app was properly shown to me on android auto with an older version however recently when I connected my phone to the car its ask me to update the android auto app, after upgrading to the latest version now fermata auto and other apps are not shown on the screen of car infotainment. tried to downgrade the android auto version but when tried to connect it to the car after downgrading, it again asked to update the latest version and it was not allowed to do anything further before I update it. Please tell me some solution for the same

It does NOT work anymore.. I got the Pro version and unfortunately it doesn't work in my car (2022 Lexus NX 350h)

This works! But there is an issue!! Rolling back an earlier version of android can cause your phone to be COMPROMISED security wise. So do becareful if your not real good at tech stuff PEOPLE who know things can detect and intrude without your knowledge on your phone!

@Adrian Adonis You are technically correct. Things can be done to eliminate most of the intrusive behaviors. That does take a bit of skill though and adb commands on the side.

@Greasy Cheese There are those who have the ability to detect vulnerabilities in cell phones, it's not really hard to accomplish either. If you are rooted for sure, it's easier to intrude. It can and has been done even to this day.
