I took a photo of a sailboat in the ocean in the Caribbean and cropped it to make the picture look like I was close to the boat. I then had it blown up to a 30x20 poster size wall hanging and framed it. I receive so many compliments on the picture from pretty much everyone who comes to my house who hasn't seen it before. Well actually I have some friends that have seen it multiple times and still can't believe it came from my phone. It's still super sharp. It's not grainy and the colors are so true that it almost puts you in the ocean like you're actually there. Seriously my wall looks like a portal to paradise, unfortunately when you see your reflection in the frame you're actually reminded that you're not in paradise anymore and you have to work tomorrow and it's supposed to rain all day. But in a real nice frame, I bet I could get a couple hundred for it. Looks like art taken from a cell phone. I know the 1520 can't do that
2k19 October on a Note 10+ here. I loved my 1520. My favorite phone even over the Notes 5, 8,& now 10+. Sure they are great phones but the Windows operating system was awesome. They were stupid not to let app developers in the Microsoft store. Oh well RIP windows mobile!!!!😭

Lumia 1020 has the better camera and it has got 41MP but it has only in built memory of 32gb and you cannot use SD card and you cannot update it to windows 10. However, 1520 is huge and a decent phone if you like and if you can handle 6" phone you can go with it. It has expandable memory and can be upgraded to windows 10
I still have my 1520. Was my favorite phone. Also it was the first phablet. I remember people would see it & say that's too big. And ,I would never own something that big. Fast forward to 2019 & it's all that is made!!!👍🏻
Did you actually look at the pictures on a computer to determine the color accuracy? Can't use a display you already determined isn't accurate to judge photos.
I have both phones and the reviewer is right. In day light or nicely lit situations the colors are better on 1520 photos when compared to 1020 even when you look at the photos on computer. Also there is no yellow tint on photos that you see on 1020. He is also right about video that 1020 makes better video.
When you see this guy on screen. You always expect him to praise iPhone even if iPhone has nothing to do With the video. You just expect him to say some bias pro iPhone thing anyway.
Could have mentioned screen color management and profiles during this, christ...Same as when you are comparing the picture quality, you say that there is more saturation with the 1020- are you sure that also doesn't have to do with the display settings, seeing as they are both able to set color temperatures? FFS compare them both on the same monitor or something.
I tested the camera of the 1520 and it was really really good,, same software,, it would be hard to choose only on picture quality alone,, if you need a bigger screen, (phablet) go for it,, really amazing,, same build quality,, perhaps even cheaper on Amazon..

I can assure you as an owner of one, the 1520 DOES make use of the extra pixels and dimensions. It doesn't make as much use as it could, but saying that it "doesn't" is misinformation.
I wish that the 1520 and the 1020 had done the Dragonball Z Fusion Dance and got that still amazing camera on a processor that can handle stuff like macro photographs of flowers without lag and sometimes losing the picture altogether!
I have the 900 and I'm still completely satisfied with it. I just can't see being a "beta" tester (please exclude the reference to the goofy ad campaign) ever again given that this phone has shown me consistent battery life, durability and UI operation since day one. I'll definitely be sticking to Windows phone, and given the choice, the 1520 for sure. The screen will dwarf the 900's 4.3 inch screen hahaha.
When it comes to photography, nothing else comes close to lumia 1020 (well, the nokia 808...) To me is a natural option because i dont care about a bigger-than-my-pocket full hd screen or the quad core processors.

If Windows Phone would have come into the game earlier, they would have been King. They came into the game far too late when iOS and Android were already dominating. I like WP though, but I don't think it is the future king.
Monsieur Africain It doesn't matter , Windows Phone is the fastest growing OS. Forbes magazine wrote a article this week saying that if WP continues to grow at the same rate as they been growing, WP will replace iOS in just 3 years.

It's simple. The 1520 has thinner and bigger screen with higher resolution,but the Camera is 20 MegaPixel . But the 1020 has smaller screen and 41 MP camera,you've made a good comparisment and i would sey both phones are 50:50 .
the colorsaturation diffrences between the big one and the 1020 could be from the diffrences in the screens. (lcd vs amoled) for good comparison you should show the pics o one screen.. but thanks for the comparison, i enjoyed it! :D
i had the 920. died. and got the 950. problems and returned it. considered the 1020, but the audio record on the 1520 crushed the 1020. And was close to the 920, which is also outstanding. 1520, till I die
I like the bigger phablet design of the 1520 and newer internals but I like the 40mp on the 1020 better than the 20mp on the 1520. Interesting the older 1020 costs more than it's successor the 1520.
You forgot to mention that the speaker and mic on the 1020 are a bit better than on the 1520. We have both and we like the 1020 better. Specially with its grip photo case, that makes it look and feel like a camera. It's bulky but better.
Everything he says that "separates the experiences from the 1520 from the 1020" isn't legit. My 1020 came with the GDR3 update. It is able to do everything that he claims the 1520 can only do, and more (that camera)... and its not a mini tablet in your pocket..

1520 for sure. The Bigger canvas and screen is so much more fun. 1020's camera is also a con for it coz the picture sizes eat through your storage and the camera app is considerably slower. 1520 has all the latest(almost) specs and will run you better for 1 year more atleast.
while i like the camera in the 1020, the 1520 has a sd card slot . they both have the great carl ziess lens, as my 900 for wonderful pictures, the reason I'm even looking for another lumia. the 900 has been almost impossible to utilize the pictures as for some reason it will not sync with a computer, won't work at a photo lab ...after years of trying to solve the problem the only way i found was to upload every pic...alot ...to skydive then download to my iCloud. if it would have had an sd card available sure would have made things easier. i have heard others with brand new lumia phones have ran into the same issue. frustrating for we who want a lumia predominately for the camera. also, its got the newer 10 program and as phones get older they dont always have upgrade option. my 900 won't let me upgrade because it has to be done through a computer and it won't sync . surprised im even thinking of another? the 900 takes such dang great pics!

It's fallen on my face a lot lol. If you want one try to get a chance to hold it, dropping it when laying down isn't a big deal, i did that with my iphone as well. However make sure your hands are large enough to hold it standing without constantly changing grip, you don't wanna drop it over concrete, dropping it onto your face or bed wont hurt(the phone that is) but concrete isnt as merciful.
MA K 1520 because,every aspect is better in comparison other then the megapixel.better to go with 1520. or else,if you are choosing a phone which is comfortable,go with 930/830(for the huge price).or else choose 730 for a better price and new software with superb selfie cam as i did
The 1020 just looks terrible compared to it's larger brother. If only WP's supported Google now and CZcams features I'd consider them. The 1529 at least and why the hell didn't they place Gorilla glass 3 on the 1520? it's screen needs it being so large. Good review I'll be staying with my Note for the mean time .

I have black update on both and difference is still there. 1020 has yellow cast on the photos and greens are way over saturated.

but 1020 has poor battery . only 2000 so lumia 1520 better choice for moderate to heavy use :)
