You might have recognized the first woman who stood cheering and applauding was her grandmother, probably her biggest fan. Oh, that big long dramatic run was an echo of Britan May's brilliant guitar riff at that same point in the original. Genius!
I missed her grandma, think I'd only recognize her mom at this point. Yeah I heard about that guitar riff thingy before seeing it this time but forgot to notice it again. Such a cool idea though.

the difference with her riffs and runs is that hers are functional with her emotive style and interpretation, not for 'look what I can do'. And technically, they are so much more refined, exquisitely placed and embellished than others'.

Though Angelina is still young and is not promoted very much I really hope all the people listening to the "fastfood music" soon will learn to appreciate real, not autotuned, music like this. She is a breath of fresh air and will hopefully be allowed to develop in a healthy way. 😊

I don't think that you have to worry about being "allowed to develop". Angelina is in charge of her own destiny.... :-)
Autotune helps to create a result thats on key, so singing on key in the first place or correcting it with software is not really the big differentiator. It makes no real difference on Spotify.
What makes her appeal her to me so much is her voice and the connection she instantly creates. Though I like to listen to some of the maybe cheaper music in the charts, too. The world is not always a binary yes or no. And trust me when a software developer says that😎

Specially AJ has something I can't describe and she is a compete jukebox 😊 I don't know much about production other than I find a lot to be overproduced and the videos have the wrong fokus😏. To hide a lack of skill?
I don't think it's to hide the lack of skill in all cases. Almost all artists use autotune on their recordings but it's well done so the listener won't hear it. Then some use autotune to the extreme like Cher - Do You Believe In Life After Love for effect. When doing vocal takes it's about the feel of the take and if the feel is amazing and one note slides off it's a great tool to correct it with autotune so the whole take isn't spoiled. Then of course some terrible singers can be made to sound OK with autotune as well.

I agree with Sandy. Angelina doesn't need autotune and I hope it never touches that voice, leave it pure, she doesn't need anything else.
"The Show Must Go On" is another great vid, AJ with a backing track.

The real thing. No AutoTune, no special effects, no distracting dancing, props, or pyrotechnics. No overpowering instrumentation. Angelina is humble and a prodigy.
I love her videos relate to her sound and the lyrics, more movie than dancing that is a distraction. Every element in the video speaks to the song. I love she is creating a more holistic audio/visual experience.
I hope this makes sense. I gave it three tries to say the same thing. If you haven’t seen her Elvis 1968 tribute Suspicious Minds it is done in a way that underpins the song’s history but with Angelina’s voice.
That "happiness" is giving you chills, Sandy, and chills to Dany too, while it triggers blissful tears for me.

Angelina owns the rights to her own arrangement, so she's probably happy to see others covering it. In my opinion, most people who try to cover the whole BoRhap probably shouldn't. 😃😎😍
In my opinion those covers nicely highlight the difficulty level of the song. Even though is much shorter its still easy to wrack the hole cover.
Angie always makes it look easy, but thats a deception. She's just that good.
Great comments, Sandy! Yes, AJ is genuine in a way that comes across every single time. She happens to be so vocally talented that she can just be herself.
One thing i noticed about the runs. I too thought the first big run was a bit superfluous, but I understood it was for a singing competition. But then she hit that big note after singing "I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all!" There was a guitar riff at that point in the original song, and she replaced it with voice.

As you have already revealed that she is a jazz fan and as you may know one of Angelina's nicknames is the new Queen of Jazz it might be fun to have your wife pick another title from her list of jazz hits to react to together. Just a suggestion.

On the subject of runs...yes absolutely there are talent-show runs that are expected in America (and the UK and Australia and Asia I've noticed) and their is another kind. Angelina often uses small two and three note run embellishments to highlight specific areas of the song for an emotional or artistic effect that isn't "show-offy". I liken it to when David Gilmour for instance breaks from his usual form -beautiful sustains and entrancing melodies - to rip through a bunch of notes really fast to get to that one that really tells the story. Maybe to show he can as well, who knows what goes through the mind of a genius? But I think I am expressing my point..
So yeah! Keep it up, I'm pretty well locked in for the long ride, it's been a fun journey so far. ✌️😁

Y'all are fun! btw, that front row R-L are her Grandmother (first to stand and cheer btw LOL), her mom (blonde), her little sis and her uncle (not positive about him but others closer than am I have said so) - and agree with Sandy, 1) can't really nail AJ to a specific genre (although closest to jazz or blues) and 2) AJ does terrific honor to Freddie and Queen by obvious homage while making it her own - like saying I love your stuff so much that I want to take it to MY genre. When you do "Million Miles", there are three versions to choose from. There's a lyric video and a music video, both with the Stargate-produced music track. Its a wonderful track, but the the live studio black and white performance is stll probably the one you want to react to. Seeing her singing it is very powerful. She made it as a tribute to her grandfather that passed away a couple of years ago, but dedicated the song to anyone that has lost a loved one.
For "7'th Heaven", there is also a live studio performance.

You mention that it almost got painful. I saw a reaction to this song by a young lady who is a vocal coach. She was stopping the video every few seconds and explaining all the technical details about how Angelina was doing the different things she was doing. At some point, near the middle of the song, you could see her start trembling and for the last half she just sat there with tears running down her cheeks. After it was over, she composed herself and called the performance painfully good.
As far as her runs, when I first heard this, I thought she had really taken it to the limit and that any more would have been too much, but given the circumstances of trying to impress the judges in a very short time it was okay. I've always felt she crossed the line and did just a little too much in the final on "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

You got it Sandy. She refused a contract offer from Simon and probably she didn't win because of that. In the second song (Yellow Brick Road) there is a sentence: "I'm not a present for your friends to open..." in it... In style.

This is from an interview with her uncle Michael and Music Norway: AGT (America Got Talent) had always been interested in bringing Angelina to the show, but with their normal contract, artists are being locked into a label, management, and other things for many years. Astar says that it didn’t matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of question to give away that right.
“Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs, she is great for their TV show and Angelina will get the exposure she needs to breakthrough, because I knew, the talent is one of the kind like no other, I just needed her to be seen and was on a daily hunt for how to get the right spot for her in the USA.”

All I ask... Cover of Adele song.. Angelina expresses emotion in this song at the top of her game
Heal the World... Michael Jackson cover done this past week in honor of the virtual visit of the crown Prince of Norway to California. It was quite an honor and Angelina was the ambassador of peace. This may have been Angelina's finest hour With her outpouring of emotion.

I can say as an American that generally speaking, we are lazy, spoiled, and "entitled" people, and that along with being somewhat "brainwashed" has put our mainstream music in this vacuous box. As a person who worked in the American music business for over 60 years on many different levels in performing, recording, and all the practicing and preparation that goes with it, I don't like being critical of any musical artist who is trying to be "successful" in some way. I blame the industry and general cultural changes more than anything. Well, I'm rambling about a complex topic. I know you all understand all this more clearly than I do.
I agree with a lot of what you're saying about not being critical. If I am requested to reacto to something and while watching I dislike it, I don't post the video. In most performances/songs there is at least something to be appreciated. Sometimes not, unfortunately.
