The league black balled him. He changed the culture in the NBA. He took the ass whoopin for everyone to do what they do now
Allen Iverson was blamed for the "thug" persona in the NBA, especially after the "Malice at the Palace"
real rap 💯
He was trash for a long time.
Went to Denver killed their team.
They traded him.for Billups
Made the con finals
And current players know this, too. They pay homage to him.
@Ruciana Pollard Well the thug immature attitude needed to go. Sadly the NBA is unwatchable now.n
The disrespect that he received in Detroit was criminal! Traded the man to Denver he averaged 27
Didnt do shit come playoff time. No ring as well
He wasn't what he used to be at that point. It was reality, not disrespect. He was living off past accolades.

Real Ninjas need to give this man Allen Iverson his props!! Allen never wore a 👗 👚 dress, skirt or skinny Jean's.... Allen rocked the real deal hip hop culture clothing & he rocked the braids and didn't take no sh*t..... Allen Iverson you a real one and we'll missed in this fake ass kissing NBA.....
At least he got a chance to play with another Hall of Fame in Carmelo Anthony and become a championship team. He was literally carrying the whole 76ers team.
He should have never stayed there, the owner & Management were uneducated in getting players to compete for a championship !

His first & only love was football. So the man wasn't afraid of contact. In fact, no matter how big or how many his opponents he was going to try & hit them before they hit him. The man was a hitter in football. Basketball players were soft to him. This is even his own words.

They didn't look at how hard he played, or his balling I.Q. ! He didn't miss games to rest his pinky finger or sore knee. He played for himself, his teammates, and the fans. I was in a Burger restaurant, after a 76ers game one night. I ordered 2 big burgers and a large onion rings ! A.I. came in bought himself some food, and payed for mine. Saved me $19. dollars that night. I have good memories of A I. 👍

I'm from The D and it seemed like AI was given a raw deal coming to Detroit. I believe he came a few yrs too late due to the fact that the Pistons were on the decline andand the league was moving towards a young Lebron at that point, along with being more offensive. There was a game that I saw pure cohesiveness and that was vs The Lakers at the Forum. They ran LA off the floor. Iverson, Sheed and everybody was in total sync that night and it was a beauty. I believe with Chauncey gone that team was totally different and Iverson could of scored more easier with that te than ever before with a Sheed, Rip, McDyess and a plus from Tayshaun. No way that squad shouldn't of met up with Mia or Clev I'm the ECF that year.
I’m from Detroit too. Did you say they played Lakers at the Forum? Lol… but nah, he should’ve been able to wear 3. Ben was not playing there and even if his jersey would be retired, Iverson should’ve been able to wear 3 as well. Retired jerseys can be worn, so why not pending retired jerseys?! Practice? Practice? We're talking about practice. That was my favorite AI.
Thought about that after hearing him say come of the bench a million times
Says it all he was “all” star and no leader.
I remember how he got to Detroit...but it made sense why they benched him.
At the time, the Pistons thought Stuckey was going to be the next D.Wade, which is why they were cool sending an aging Billups away. This was of course a bad decision. First off Stuckey had no range, and also was no D.Wade. Secondly, having Stuckey, Hamilton and Iverson all on the same team, with no ball distributor pretty much destroyed their offense.
Also AI's injuries piled up and he missed a lot of time during that year in Detroit. The following season he ended up in Memphis, but wanted to start ahead of O.J. Mayo or Conley, which, in both cases was insane. So he had issues, only played 3 games, and then they ended up sending him back to the Sixers. At that point, you could simply watch the games, and tell he just didn't have it anymore.
He went to play in Turkey for one year, didn't look good and by that point it was a wrap. In a sense, this was all inevitable: the dude average 40+ minutes/game for his entire career, and was notorious for playing while hurt and injured. These are things that a lot of analytical guys take for granted nowadays, because they think so much about efficiency that they don't get it's heart, passion and competitiveness that puts people in the seats and gets the respect of one's peers, which is why A.I. was so respected by fans and his peers.
As a Detroit fan they did Iverson dirty. I felt like the team was at a shock when Billups got traded for him. The chemistry was gone. As an Iverson fan I was happy to have him but it just didn’t work out. Thankful for my Piston’s Iverson jersey and the fact he was a part of the Pistons franchise.
Robert Orry has seven (7) championship rings and he came off the bench, team is about attitude.

It's not arrogance when it's facts. So he went from being mismanaged in Detroit to being stuck with George Karl in Denver. In Detroit they had talent mismanaged. In Denver, he had a petty, mediocre coach who couldn't win the big game if someone gave him a cheat code. Apparently someone really wanted him to fail. Salute to your heart and ability Allen.
Imagine if he had the mj or kobe work ethic. AI and Shaq, DESPITE being all time greats, are some of the biggest what ifs in NBA history. Shaq legit could have been the GOAT.
@Julian Jackson Shaq had talent but got tired of discipline. A.I was pure heart, soul and ability. Detroit screwed him over and George Karl didn't know what to do with real talent. Especially when he went from being a subpar player to a subpar coach. Notice, Denver was never a real threat under him because of him.
@AudricMorrison: When Iverson was in Philly, he carried the load. They were a defensive minded team but grossly limited. Iverson really didn't have the weapons and it showed when the Sixers played the Lakers. His sheer will and ability got them that far. Detroit just flat out lied to him and it showed. Denver was where his career went to die. Put Shaq with the Sixers and Iverson gets his ring. Put Iverson with a better coach in Denver and he might have picked up a second ring before his career ended.

Just because you have been an all star, a champion or a franchise player, if your game is not up there, you might not be good enough to start. A coach can either respect your past achievements or do what’s best for the team.
There’s no way rookie Mike Conley was better than him at all or overrated Rodney Stuckey they gave up so much for him and turned out to be shit
Not A.I. tho... Detroit let him go n he went to Denver and averaged 27ppg...so....try agn 🤦🏾♂️
@@tayjones8303, you try again. You can average 27 points a game and still have a negative impact. No matter how many points you score, if your game is not helping a team win games, you are not useful to the team. You can’t treat a team sport like an individual sport. At the end, a coach has to determine what your individual performance is contributing or costing the team.
@@tayjones8303 HE WAS ON DENVER FIRST
@@manisthemeasure2205 DETROIT COACH WAS TRASH THOUGH THAT'S WHY HE GOT FIRED
Welcome to America Allen
Asking the best player on the team to not start, is disrespectful.
I would walked or at least, throw the game & if his teammates were loyal & did it with him, good for them.
Now you got Podcasts like Players Choice slandering that mans name knowing how great Allen Iverson was.
They tried to play in that man face.🤦🏾♀️
He knew all his accolades without missing a beat.
But none of those accomplishments led his team to a championship victory.
Much like Russell Westbrook.
When Andre Iguodala agreed to "off the bench", he won his first Championship & Finals MVP.
Iguo and AI were also 2 COMPLETELY different caliber players as well. You're talking HOF'er vs regular starter.
